Default Re: [EPL] Manchester United vs Stoke City

EARLY TEAM NEWS: UNITED V STOKE CITY

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed Antonio Valencia is fit to return from injury in Monday night’s Premier League match against Stoke City at Old Trafford.

The Ecuador international has not featured since suffering a hamstring injury during the 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on 17 December.

The stand-in captain trained all week during the warm-weather camp in Dubai and the manager revealed during his pre-match press conference that he is now “ready to play” against Stoke.

Jose also stated Anthony Martial is a doubt when asked if everyone is fit for the visit of the Potters. “Martial is not ready, but I hope he can play. Plus, the other ones that are unavailable.”

Earlier in the press conference, Mourinho admitted Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set to play against Stoke when asked about the Armenian’s future and reports that he may move away from Old Trafford.

“My approach to players is that every player has a price,” the boss said. “It doesn't matter who he is, it doesn't matter the level, the prestige, the status. I think every player has a price. I'm not the kind of blind manager. Blind in the sense of this player is untouchable, that this player we can never sell.

“I think every player has a price. So when the transfer window is open, it's also open for any club that is interested in our players, then it is up to us to make a decision: yes or no. It's up to us to decide what we think is the right price.

“But Mkhitaryan, he played the last match in the cup and probably will play the next one. So it's a little bit the same in relation to other players who are involved in this gossip of the transfer window. He is our player. He's a very good player. Saturday he is training, Sunday selected and Monday play.”

Manchester United v Stoke preview: Jose Mourinho's side look to steal a march on rivals as managerless Stoke head to Old Trafford

* Manchester United face Stoke in the league at Old Trafford on Monday evening
* Stoke sacked Welshman Mark Hughes after defeat to Coventry in the FA Cup
* United boss Mourinho will want to close the gap on rivals Manchester City
* The Reds spent some time warm-weather training at a base in Dubai this week

Manchester United take on managerless Stoke City at Old Trafford on Monday evening as the Red Devils look to capitalise on their rivals dropped points.

Defeats for Manchester City and Chelsea provides Jose Mourinho's side with a real opportunity at home against a Stoke side who sacked manager Mark Hughes following the FA Cup third round defeat to League One Coventry City.

Sportsmail's Chris Wheeler and Laurie Whitwell get the views from both camps ahead of the match...

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho

How was the break in Dubai last week?

'Very good. The facilities are better than at any football club in the world. Unbelievable conditions to work, nice weather and three days of training.

'So we are all happy and lucky to play Monday, which gives us this extra day.'

Stoke are without a manager. Were you surprised to see Mark Hughes sacked?

'They have a manager (Eddie Niedzwiecki). I think he is a guy with great qualities to do the job. He was always a loyal member of Mark Hughes’s staff, like Mark Bowen.

'They were always a strong group so Ed is just continuity. I don’t think for the players it’s a different situation.'

How is Zlatan Ibrahimovic?

'Zlatan is not totally happy with his condition. He has consulted other doctors for more opinions. The date for him to be back to training is the end of January.'

Any fears he won’t make it back?

'No. He knows he’s in the last part of his career but his dream and his desire, his fight was always to end his career at the highest level.'

Menang 3-0 dengan 2 gol keren dari Valencia dan Martial.
Semoga Pasukannya Mou terus mendulang kemenangan demi kemenangan, jangan liat City, masih jauh soalnya gap 12 poin.

Manchester United 3-0 Stoke - PLAYER RATINGS: Paul Pogba dominates proceedings while Kurt Zouma has night to forget at Old Trafford

* Manchester United ran out comfortable 3-0 winners against Stoke on Monday
* Antonio Valencia and Anthony Martial fired home two great strikes in first half
* Romelu Lukaku added a third in the 72nd minute to wrap up victory for United
* Jose Mourinho's side sit 12 points behind leaders Man City in Premier League

Manchester United enjoyed a comfortable day at the office on Monday as they ran out 3-0 winners against struggling Stoke.

Antonio Valencia and Anthony Martial netted in the first half for Jose Mourinho's side thanks to two emphatic strikes past Jack Butland.

Romelu Lukaku then got on the scoresheet, firing past Butland from close range to wrap up proceedings for United at Old Trafford.

Sportsmail's CHRIS WHEELER AND JONATHAN SPENCER provide the player ratings from Old Trafford...

Manchester United (4-1-4-1)

David de Gea - 6.5

The Spaniard enjoyed a relatively easy night in Manchester against a sluggish Stoke side that posed a limited threat. However, when called upon in the second half, he produced a fine save of Mame Biram Diouf.

Antonio Valencia - 7

Valencia returned to United's starting line-up in emphatic fashion after recovering from a hamstring injury. Scored a fine opening goal, cutting inside Josh Tymon on his weaker foot before firing home past Butland.

Valencia enjoyed a fine night on his return from injury, netting the first goal in brilliant fashion

Chris Smalling - 6

When put under pressure at Old Trafford by the Stoke forwards, the England international responded well to help Mourinho's side keep another clean sheet.

Phil Jones - 7

With his side 1-0 ahead, Jones made a brilliant goal-saving block to deny Stoke from equalising. He prevented Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting's shot from going into an open goal after a lapse in concentration from De Gea following a Darren Fletcher cross.

Luke Shaw - 6.5

Another solid performance from the left back as he looks to consolidate his position in Mourinho's starting XI. Not troubled too much down the left.

Nemanja Matic - 6.5

The Serbian midfielder seemed a tiny bit off the pace against Stoke as he returned to the pitch following a two-week break from Premier League action.

Juan Mata - 6

A tidy performance from the little Spaniard but will be annoyed he couldn't get on the scoresheet. The midfielder had a goal disallowed as well as striking just wide of the far post in the second half with a curling effort.

Paul Pogba - 8

Man of the Match for United. The France international dominated the game and ran the midfield. He produced two fine assists in the first half to take the game away from the visitors.

Anthony Martial - 7

An impressive display from the Frenchman, capped off by a fine first half strike. After receiving the ball from Pogba, the 22-year-old curled a brilliant first-time strike into the top corner, leaving Butland with no chance.

Romelu Lukaku - 7.5

After causing Stoke's defence problems throughout on Monday, he was finally rewarded with a goal in the 72nd minute, firing past Butland from close range to seal United's win.

Substitutes

Marouane Fellaini (for Lingard 80 mins), Marcus Rashford (for Martial 80 mins), Scott McTominay (for Mata 82 mins).
