Manchester United 'have clear path to sign Donny van de Beek' after Real Madrid backtrack on £49m summer move despite having personal terms sewn up for Ajax star

* Manchester United are favourites to sign Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek
* Real Madrid have reportedly hesitated over a summer move for the Dutchman
* Los Blancos had originally 'agreed a £49m move for Van de Beek earlier this year'
* However reports in Holland claim that the chances of a Madrid move are now 'nil'

Manchester United have become the favourites to sign Donny van de Beek this summer after Real Madrid 'backtracked' in their move to sign the Ajax star, according to reports in Holland.

The Dutchman had reportedly agreed personal terms with Real earlier this year ahead of a £45million (€50m) move.

However, with the Bernabeu undergoing a £500m renovation and the coronavirus pandemic hitting clubs financially, chances of Van de Beek moving to the Spanish capital are now 'nil'.

With a move to Real now reportedly dead in the water, United could be ready to take advantage and make a move for the midfielder.

Man United lead the race to sign Donny van de Beek after Real Madrid 'backtracked'. Zinedine Zidane was keen to bring the Dutch midfielder to Real and had engineered a move

Chief football correspondent of Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf Valentijn Driessen told Veronica Inside: 'I now hear that Real Madrid is backtracking. The chance that he will go to Real Madrid is nil.

'The transfer fee was fixed. He was allowed to go for €50million. In fact, everything was agreed. It was only about the medical examination.'

With his dream move now in tatters, Van de Beek could look elsewhere with Dutch legend and Ajax coach Ronald de Boer admitting that he'd 'understand' if he made the move to Old Trafford.

De Boer told FOX Sports last week: 'If Real Madrid again decide not to report themselves at Donny, then I can understand it if he decides to go to Manchester United instead.

'On the one hand, I understand that Real Madrid are hesitating a bit. Another club could think, "hey, an interesting player, maybe we can get him for a little less". For example Manchester United.'

While Real rated the 23-year-old at £45m, United could be ready to take advantage of the situation and offer the Dutch club £36m.

The midfielder came through the infamous Ajax academy to make his first-team debut in 2015 and has since made 175 appearances in all competitions for the Eredivisie giants.

Last season, Van de Beek was a key figure in the Ajax side that reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, scoring in the quarter-final second-leg win over Juventus and in both ties in the last-four defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 23-year-old is an Ajax fan through and through, after being taken by his father Andre to Amsterdam Arena for the first time at the age of five.

De Boer, whose brother Frank gave Van de Beek his first call-up to an Ajax first-team matchday squad five years ago, thinks the midfielder fits the profile for what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants in his Manchester United squad.

Manchester United looked into the Dutch midfielder last summer but no deal was made. Ajax coach Frank de Boer claims United could pounce if Real continue to hesitate over a move

The Ajax youth coach added: 'Solskjaer has indicated that he wants to go in a new direction and wants players who are humble, their heart is with the club, a team player.

'I think he is tired of the [Paul] Pogbas running around. He wants players like Donny van de Beek.'

It is not only French star Pogba that Van de Beek would have to compete with for a spot in Solskjaer's starting line-up, with Scott McTominay, Andreas Perreira, Nemanja Matic, Fred and Bruno Fernandes all looking to feature in the United midfield next season.

The Dutchman has scored eight goals in 23 league games for Ajax this season, adding two more in the Champions League.

Manchester United and Tottenham set to miss out on Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier, with Belgium international set to join Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer

* Thomas Meunier's contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of June
* Tottenham Hotspur had been long time admirers of the Belgium defender
* Manchester United and Chelsea had seen their interest grow in recent weeks
* But defender has reportedly agreed a four-year deal with Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund have reportedly won the race to land Thomas Meunier on a free transfer when his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the month.

Meunier has been a long term target for Tottenham Hotspur, with Manchester United and Chelsea having also shown interest in recent weeks.

But according to Bild the Belgium international is heading to Germany having penned a four-year deal with Dortmund.

PSG have already been declared champions of France this term after the season was declared finished during the coronavirus pandemic.

But by leaving Paris at the end of June, Meunier has elected against signing a short term deal at the Parc des Princes that would have enabled him to play for the French champions in the final stages of this term's Champions League.

After ironically knocking Dortmund out in the last-16 before the outbreak led to football's pause, PSG are in the quarter-finals of the competition which comes to a completion at the end of August.

Thomas Meunier has reportedly agreed to join Borussia Dortmund from Paris Saint-Germain. The Belgium defender had been a target for Premier League sides including Tottenham

The 28-year-old is one of the few experienced players who are set to depart PSG this summer with Edinson Cavani and Thiago Silva also looking likely to leave.

Meunier has enjoyed a four-year spell in France where he has won the league title three times in four years, playing 128 games for PSG in all competitions.

Dortmund play their final Bundesliga match of this season against Hoffenheim on Saturday.

Real Madrid ready to launch fresh pursuit of Manchester United star Paul Pogba after boss Zinedine Zidane was 'greatly annoyed' at failed attempt to land France midfielder last summer

* Real Madrid have been long term admirers of Manchester United's Paul Pogba
* Zinedine Zidane wants to sign the midfielder as a priority this summer
* Pogba has been enjoying his best United form paired with Bruno Fernandes

Real Madrid are reportedly lining up a summer move for Paul Pogba as part of their priority transfer business ahead of next season.

Pogba's future at Old Trafford before lockdown had looked uncertain due to his inconsistency and injuries that largely kept him out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans.

But he has thrived when paired with Bruno Fernandes this term and is now staring to show the from that convinced United to pay Juventus a then world record £89million fee for him back in 2016.

However, according to Get French Football News, the France World Cup winner has been a long term target for Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane who was 'greatly annoyed' by their failure to land him last summer.

Madrid have been tracking Rennes' Eduardo Camavinga, but the club are unlikely to make a big money move for the highly rated 17-year-old, especially with Pogba an outstanding target.

Madrid though may struggle to convince Pogba to leave Old Trafford now that the 27-year-old is starting to show his best form for the club.

Real Madrid are looking to revive hopes of signing Paul Pogba from Manchester United. Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane was 'greatly annoyed' over missing out on Pogba last summer. Pogba has thrived post-lockdown in a midfield partnership with Bruno Fernandes

According to former United defender Rio Ferdinand, Pogba has been allowed to thrive in midfield following the arrival of Fernandes in January.

'[Paul] Pogba has been a totally different player since the restart,' Ferdinand told BT Sport.

'The energy levels in his game, it's the Pogba United paid £89m for four years ago. A big factor is undoubtedly the man he is playing with in the centre of midfield - Bruno Fernandes.

'Pogba will not want to be shown up out there and that's perhaps the motivation he needed. Solskjaer will be absolutely loving what he's seeing from those two.

'Fernandes is just doing what comes naturally to him and it's been a huge boost to Pogba's form - it's freed him up to play as well.

'There's probably less pressure on him now because he knows that some of the burden of expectation is being shouldered by Fernandes.'

West Ham 'are interested in signing Manchester United duo Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard' with both falling out of favour at Old Trafford

* West Ham United are reportedly interested in Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard
* David Moyes wants to sign both of them but must avoid relegation in the league
* Jones is out of favour at Old Trafford behind Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof
* Lingard is also struggling for minutes with West Brom and Everton interested

Manchester United duo Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones could reportedly be on their way to West Ham to reunite with former Red Devils manager David Moyes.

The pair have fallen out of favour at Old Trafford and the Hammers boss has shown an interest in them both and will look to sign them, should they avoid relegation this season, according to the Independent.

West Ham have moved four points clear of the bottom three after picking up four points from their last two games, and so their pursuit of the two United players is becoming more feasible.

West Ham boss David Moyes is reportedly interested in Manchester duo should they stay up. Phil Jones (L) and Jesse Lingard have fallen out of favour at Old Trafford and could leave club. Moyes is especially keen on signing Jones as he looks to strengthen his defence this summer

If they avoid the drop, Moyes is expected to be given a lot of time and money in order to rebuild the squad at the London Stadium.

The Scot is drawing up a list of potential transfers and it is believed that the United pair are high up on his radar, having previously worked together when Moyes was in charge at Old Trafford.

Moyes is especially keen on Jones as he aims to strengthen his defence in the upcoming transfer window.

The centre back has struggled for minutes under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after falling down the pecking order behind Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

However, a potential chink in the armour could be the asking price for Jones - as he only signed a new four-year deal with United last year.

Lingard has also fallen out of favour at United with the new-look midfield of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay all being picked over him.

Both players are likely to exit the club in the next window with Solskjaer planning a big clear-out.

West Brom and Everton have also shown an interest in the England midfielder, who has failed to register a goal or assist in his last 20 Premier League appearances.

Manchester United 'will listen to offers for SIX players this summer', with Alexis Sanchez, Chris Smalling and Jesse Lingard among those who could be sold to finance deals for Jadon Sancho and two more stars

* The Red Devils are willing to part with a host of players to free up transfer funds
* Up to six players could be sold, including Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is plotting an overhaul and wants to sign Jadon Sancho
* He would also like to use the funds to sign a centre back as well as a new striker

Manchester United are prepared to cash in on up to six players this summer with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeking funds to sign a top star like Jadon Sancho, reports claim.

The Red Devils have enjoyed a mini revival in the league this calendar year but a dreadful start to the season has cost them as they battle to win a Champions League spot. The Norwegian boss will be keen to ensure he keeps the momentum going into next season to challenge for the title but is thought to be plotting an overhaul.

And the Telegraph report that he is willing to oversee a player exodus to bolster his transfer kitty and strengthen the areas to help the club reach the next level.

Phil Jones (left) and Chris Smalling (right) could be sold to raise funds for another defender

Alexis Sanchez (left) and Jesse Lingard (right) are also out of favour and could attract interest

Alexis Sanchez, Phil Jones, Jesse Lingard, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo and Diogo Dalot could all leave Old Trafford this summer if United receive a suitable offer, it adds, with Dortmund star Sancho pinpointed as the top target after generating those funds.

But Solskjaer is also keen on recruiting another top centre back, the report claims, with Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly heavily linked with a move to the club in recent weeks - and if possible he would like another centre forward to lift the burden on Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood.

The club spent £75million last summer as Harry Maguire, Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were brought in, but the coronavirus pandemic will make splashing the cash significantly harder this year - so United must offload as much dead wood as possible.

Marcos Rojo (left) and Diego Dalot (right) make up a host of stars that could be out of the door

Sancho has been touted for a big-money transfer to the red side of Manchester for some time now and would fill the current void on the right wing - but he will only be allowed to leave the Bundesliga side for a fee of around £100m.

Sanchez is coming back from a loan spell at Inter but could be difficult to shift due to his high salary, whereas Smalling and Rojo should find new clubs after enjoying spells away from United at Roma and Estudiantes respectively.

Phil Jones is currently out of favour and should have a host of suitors, including in Serie A after watching team-mate Smalling enjoy a successful season.

And Portuguese defender Dalot joined from Porto for around £20m in 2018 but has failed to emerge as the club's first choice right back.

Lingard has played two minutes in the Premier League since February - his future looks bleak

Meanwhile, Lingard has started just nine Premier League games this season and is reportedly interesting West Ham - who are also said to be keeping an eye on Jones.

Lingard's future at Old Trafford is growing increasingly doubtful with new signing Bruno Fernandes flourishing in midfield since his £68m move from Sporting Lisbon.

He has played just 63 minutes since the restart - and that came in the FA Cup against Norwich.

The last time he featured in a Premier League game was in early February against Wolves - and was only sent on for two minutes.

Manchester United have 'submitted an opening proposal' to French side Sochaux over 15-year-old wonderkid defender Willy Kambwala

* Manchester United have reportedly approached Sochaux with a £900,000 offer
* The France Under 16 star is thought to be interested in a move to Old Trafford
* However, he would not force through a transfer out of respect to his current side

Manchester United have reportedly upped their interest in the highly promising talent Willy Kambwala by making an opening bid.

The 15-year-old has caught the attention of the Red Devils as an emerging prospect from the France Under 16s, and is seen as one of the decade's next break out stars.

According to getfootballnewsfrance.com, United are ready to test his club Sochaux with an opening bid of €1million (£900,000).

However the French second tier outfit are set to reject the approach from the Red Devils, insisting they will only open talks over a transfer if they double their offer.

Although the centre-back is interested in a move to United, it is thought he will not force through a move to Old Trafford out of respect to the club that have brought him through their academy.

At just 15-years-old he is not yet eligible for a senior contract in England, and he still has two years to run on his current youth deal at Sochaux.

Manchester United are interested in signing 15-year-old France Under 16 star Willy Kambwala. The defender is thought to be interested in a move to Old Trafford from present side Sochaux

Meanwhile, United could face a shortfall of £25million from adidas this summer if they do not qualify for the Champions League.

United have a £75m-per-year deal with the kit supplier but will only be paid £50m by the company if they miss out once again at returning to Europe's top table.

Only goal difference is keeping them out of the top four in the Premier League heading into the final three games, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side still also hope to win the Europa League in August which would also guarantee a spot among Europe's elite.

Manchester United and Manchester City on alert after Antonio Conte DROPS defensive star Milan Skriniar with Inter Milan 'ready to sell him'

* Inter Milan could be prepared to allow centre-back Milan Skriniar to leave club

Inter Milan could be prepared to allow Manchester United and Manchester City target Milan Skriniar to leave the club, according to a report.

Both Premier League giants have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old centre-back as they look to bolster their defences this summer.

Inter boss Antonio Conte dropped Skriniar for the clash against Torino on Monday night - which they won 3-1 - and the Serie A outfit are ready to let him move on, putting United and City on alert, according to Football Italia.

The defender could be sold to either Manchester club for a fee in the region of more than £54million, according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.

Both City and United are looking for defensive reinforcements ahead of next season as they look to close the gap on champions Liverpool.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side's defensive issues were visible in their 2-2 draw with Southampton on Monday evening when they conceded a stoppage-time equaliser at Old Trafford.

City did not replace centre-half Vincent Kompany when he departed the club last summer, with Fernandinho having to fill in at the back for spells this season.

Skriniar, who played a 14-minute cameo role off the bench against Torino, made the move to the San Siro from Sampdoria for £30m in July 2017.

Meanwhile, Inter manager Conte has revealed he will quit if club chiefs are unhappy with him after he saw his side move back into second place in Serie A.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel marks Marcus Rashford as his 'top target' this summer... and super-rich club would 'be prepared' to offer Manchester United more than £100m

* Marcus Rashford has emerged as a top transfer target for Paris Saint-Germain
* Thomas Tuchel believes the striker is severely underrated in his home country
* Manchester United would be looking for a fee well in excess of £100million

Paris Saint-Germain are set to go all out in a bid to land Marcus Rashford this summer, and are reportedly willing to offer Manchester United well in excess of £100million to sign the England international.

Rashford has grown in stature both on and off the pitch this season, with the 22-year-old showing his leadership credentials by taking the UK government to task on social issues during the Covid-19 pandemic.

On the pitch, the striker was on the scoresheet again on Monday night, his 21st goal for United across all competitions this season, as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Southampton at Old Trafford.

And, according to the Independent, PSG boss Thomas Tuchel sees him as his top priority ahead of the new season.

The publication reports that the German head coach has been spending a lot of energy attempting to convince the hierarchy at the Parc des Princes that Rashford is worth the sizeable fee United will demand.

In his discussions, it is reported Tuchel is certain that those within the sport in England 'don't realise how good a player Rashford actually is'.

Despite the current global situation and a deflated market this summer, Old Trafford chiefs would likely be loath to consider any deal to take their academy graduate away from the club, and nothing but an offer well over £100m would be considered.

Rashford has been on the radar of Tuchel for some time, with reports emanating from France in February suggesting that the PSG head coach was already sounding out the possibility of a deal.

Seen in the same mould as Kylian Mbappe, it is possible that those in the French capital see Rashford as the perfect foil - or even long-term replacement - for the France World Cup winner, who has consistently been linked with a move to Real Madrid for the past few windows.

PSG are only all too aware of Rashford's maturity for his age, the striker taking on the responsibility of sealing Manchester United's Champions League last-16 progress at the expense of the French side last season when stepping up to take a last-minute penalty.
