Comm. Shield details confirmed

Manchester United's Community Shield fixture against Wigan Athletic at Wembley Stadium will kick-off at 14:00 BST on Sunday 11 August.

The Football Association confirmed the date and kick-off time today (Monday 10 June) for the season's traditional curtain-raiser between England's league champions and FA Cup winners.

The Community Shield will be David Moyes' first competitive game in charge of the Reds and United fans have received a ticket allocation of 35,000. Ticket prices are frozen at last season’s prices and are available at £45, £35, £25 and £20. Fans can apply now.

FA general secretary Alex Horne said: "You have to go all the way back to 1985 for the last time that Manchester United played in this fixture without Sir Alex Ferguson on the touchline so the eyes of the world will be on the Community Shield and Wembley when David Moyes leads them out in August.

“Wigan Athletic provided a fairytale ending to this season’s FA Cup Final, which was fitting in our 150th anniversary year, and it will be great to welcome them back to Wembley as they take on the double challenge of Europa League football and the Championship.

“The 2pm kick-off time has been agreed by all the relevant authorities and means that both sets of supporters can travel back to the north-west.”

Tour kick-offs confirmed



All kick-off times for Manchester United's 2013 Tour Presented By Aon have been confirmed.

The Reds will play five pre-season friendlies in four countries in July, as new manager David Moyes takes United to Thailand, Australia, Japan and Hong Kong.

United begin with a match in Bangkok on Saturday 13 July against a Singha All Star XI at the Rajamangala Stadium (20:00 local, 14:00 BST).

The squad will then fly to Sydney and, after an intensive training camp, play the A-League All-Stars at ANZ Stadium on Saturday 20 July (19:30 local, 10:30 BST).

Two games in Japan follow – against Yokohama Marinos on Tuesday 23 July at Nissan Stadium (19:20 local, 11:20 BST) and Cerezo Osaka on Friday 26 July at Osaka Nagai Stadium (19:00 local, 11:00 BST) – before the tour ends in Hong Kong with a fixture against Kitchee FC on Monday 29 July at Hong Kong Stadium (20:00 local, 13:00 BST).

Five pre-season matches have been confirmed for Manchester United’s Under-21s, setting up a busy summer for Warren Joyce’s Barclays Premier League champions.

The Reds will kick off against Waterford United in Ireland on Thursday 18 July before heading to Scotland two days later to face Ross County at the Globe Energy Stadium.

Nine days later, on Monday 29 July, Crewe Alexandra will host United under the floodlights before a trip to Skelmersdale United and the West Lancashire College Stadium on Tuesday 30 July.

Of course, all of this leads up to the much-anticipated Lancashire Senior Cup final against rivals and neighbours Manchester City on Tuesday 6 August, a match that will be held at The County Ground.
