Tough game. Spurs lebih dominan. Fellaini yg baru masuk kayaknya cedera lagi. Rashford batal masuk. Nggak ada perubahan taktik yg signifikan lagi setelah Sanchez ditarik posisinya di belakang Lukaku. United seperti kehilangan feel bermain bola. Apa karena faktor ada orang baru?

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR 2 MANCHESTER UNITED 0

Premier League | Wembley Stadium | Attendance: 81,978 | Scorers: Eriksen 1, Jones o.g. 28.

Manchester United’s run of eight games without defeat came to an end at Wembley Stadium in front of a record crowd for a Premier League game.

The Reds' impressive defensive record, which had the opposition shut out in six straight matches in all competitions, was ended by a Christian Eriksen strike and Phil Jones's own goal.

Spurs were ahead after just 11 seconds. A long ball forward found Deli Alli and as the England international tried to turn in the United area, the ball ricocheted off Chris Smalling and fell fortuitously into the path of Eriksen. The Dane made no mistake from close range to score the second fastest goal in Premier League history.

In a bid to restore parity, Alexis Sanchez carried the ball forward before picking out Paul Pogba. Being the Reds' most creative player in the Premier League this season, it was little surprise that Pogba was able to beat the Spurs defence with a neat through ball but it wouldn’t fall kindly enough for Jesse Lingard, therefore denying United an immediate equaliser.

Anthony Martial then looked to create a chance and after taking on Davidson Sanchez out wide, he was able to cut inside from the right to unleash a shot, but his effort lacked accuracy and sailed off target.

As they did from the kick-off, Spurs continued to look a threat on the attack. First, Harry Kane took aim for the first time in the match, although David De Gea got behind it to make a comfortable save. Heung-Min Son then looked ready to be played clean through on goal, but Smalling retreated well to intercept.

Tottenham's pressure in United's final third soon yielded a second goal. Eriksen produced a dangerous cross from the right flank and, in trying to steer it behind for a corner, Phil Jones could only direct the ball past a helpless De Gea.

Approaching the break, the Reds found it challenging to mount an attack as Spurs, high on confidence, pressed high up the field and restricted most of United’s possession to the visitors' own half.

The Reds had a fair shout for a penalty nine minutes into the second period when Alexis’s header hit the arm of Son, but referee Andre Marriner was unmoved.

Eriksen had his eye on a brace just after the hour mark and saw a dangerous strike from outside the box drop just wide of De Gea’s right-hand post.

As Jose Mourinho’s side searched for a way back into the match, both Juan Matta and Ander Herrera were introduced to bolster the attack, but Tottenham were content with their lead and began to sit in, making them increasingly difficult to break down.

Overall it was a frustrating evening for the Reds who now turn attentions to hosting Huddersfield Town at Old Trafford on Saturday.

YOUNG LOOKING FOR QUICK RESPONSE

Ashley Young insists Manchester United will do everything to bounce back from Wednesday’s defeat at Tottenham when returning to action this weekend.

The Reds fell to only a fourth defeat of the season in all competitions as Christian Eriksen’s early strike and an own goal from Phil Jones gave Spurs a 2-0 victory at Wembley Stadium.

Young, who played at left-back, reflected on a disappointing night for Jose Mourinho’s men but believes the only thing United can do is continue to work hard and return to winning ways against Huddersfield Town at Old Trafford on Saturday.

“Obviously we're disappointed to concede a goal so early on and to be 2-0 down at half-time is tough when you play a tough team like Tottenham,” the no.18 told MUTV.

“This was going to be a tough game. If we got the next goal, it would have been a different story. It wasn’t meant to be – there is a lot of disappointment in that dressing room but we have got another tough game this weekend.

"We’ve got to dust ourselves down, pick ourselves up and go again.”

MOURINHO EXPLAINS FELLAINI SUBSTITUTION

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed Marouane Fellaini was withdrawn soon after entering the field against Tottenham due to an ongoing knee problem.

The Belgian midfielder lasted only seven minutes after coming on with Juan Mata as part of a double change for Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba, during the second half of the disappointing 2-0 defeat at Wembley.

“I think I was unlucky with Fellaini as I wanted to change a little bit the dynamic of the team,” the boss told BT Sport. “After a couple of minutes, he was injured. It’s always the same thing. It is the lateral ligament. I don’t think it’s a big, big thing but he was immediately feeling something and telling us he couldn’t carry on.”

Fellaini must now be considered a doubt for Saturday's visit of Huddersfield Town to Old Trafford as the Reds look to get back on track by avenging the surprise defeat at the John Smith's Stadium earlier in the season.

The manager also suggested in his post-match press conference that it is the third time the midfielder has been hampered by the issue with his knee.

MOURINHO REACTS TO TOTTENHAM DEFEAT

Jose Mourinho reflected on a disappointing night after his Manchester United team were beaten by Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds lost 2-0 at Wembley Stadium as Christian Eriksen’s goal after 11 seconds and an own goal by Phil Jones gave Spurs the three points.

Read the key points from the boss in his post-match interviews with MUTV, BBC Sport and BT Sport…

RUES ‘RIDICULOUS’ GOALS
“It’s a performance that starts with a ridiculous goal. That goal after a few seconds has a big influence in the game because Tottenham can play the way they like to play. In the end, we played against a very good team. Both goals were ridiculous goals, also the second was unlucky. The first goal is an accumulation of mistakes in spite of the fact that everything happened so fast. My players have watched the Tottenham kick-off many, many times. They know the way they do it and they also know [Harry] Kane normally starts in a position in front of the line to win some metres. We didn’t control it, lost the second ball on the ground and it was a really, really bad goal.”

WE ALLOWED SPURS TO PLAY
“We reacted and had a good reaction for 10 or 15 minutes with a good approach to the box and crosses in the face of the goal. But I think the second goal, mentally, kills us and it gives Tottenham the possibility to play the way they like to play. We tried to not let them play that way but, at 2-0, it was in their hands. A team to win matches needs to score goals and also defend well - on this occasion we were very bad. Lukaku could score and make it 2-1 to bring the team into the game but, also, Tottenham could have scored more goals on the counter-attack.”

HEADING FOR HALF-TIME EARLY
“I was trying to prepare my communication to the team, a couple of minutes to prepare. So, when they arrive, I could say what I want to say. I think I was unlucky with [Marouane] Fellaini as I wanted to change a little bit the dynamic of the team. After a couple of minutes, he was injured.”

ALEXIS GAVE EVERYTHING
"He worked hard, but again the transformation the game had, the game was not for him. In the second half, I tried to give him a position where he could be closer to [Romelu] Lukaku but then he felt the need to drop too much to organise. But he gave everything, good effort and this is a good feeling for me to know that the player is available with that spirit."

INJURY FOR FELLAINI
“He came off because he had something in his knee. Unlucky for him and unlucky for me. He came on with enthusiasm, but he has an injury in his ligament. It’s always the same thing. It is the lateral ligament. I don’t think it’s a big, big thing but he was immediately feeling something and telling us he couldn’t carry on. No [Pogba wasn't injured], we just changed for Fellaini to try different qualities with different players."

WE KEEP FIGHTING
"We lost. I always told that when the leader [in the table] is with a certain distance, I've been there a few times, you are calm, you're relaxed, you don't feel the pressure. You know that your opponents sooner or later are going to drop at least a couple of points and you're completely in control, so yes we played match after match. Yes, the Premier League finishes for us at Old Trafford in the last match against Watford in May but we knew that the distance to the leader was already considerable, even before this match. Now we have us, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal - we will be there fighting for the positions."

Paul Pogba caused Manchester United defenders 'all sorts of problems' in Tottenham defeat, says Danny Murphy

* Danny Murphy criticises midfielder Paul Pogba for lack of defensive discipline
* The Manchester United star caused his team-mates problems against Tottenham
* Murphy says defending is not in Pogba's 'nature' after his latest performance

Paul Pogba caused his Manchester United team-mates 'all sorts of problems' during their 2-0 defeat by Tottenham because of his inability to maintain defensive discipline, claims Danny Murphy.

Few players wearing a red shirt came out of the game with their heads held high, but Pogba was singled out by Murphy after allegedly wandering out of position and leaving the United defence exposed.

While the former Tottenham, Fulham and Charlton star believes Pogba is one of the game's great attacking midfielders, he does not feel he has the mindset to play in the role Jose Mourinho has handed him.

Murphy told Match of the Day: 'Pogba is one of the best attacking midfielders in the world, but defensively he is reactive rather than proactive.

'[Phil] Jones and [Chris] Smalling kept getting dragged out because Pogba kept vacating that space next to [Nemanja] Matic, and it just caused United all sorts of problems.

'Pogba has been great for United and I prefer him in a more attacking role. In terms of his defensive discipline, it’s not really in his nature.'

The France international was hauled off by Mourinho shortly after the hour mark and appeared to have words with his record signing before finally taking his place on the bench.

He has managed just 14 Premier League appearances this season after struggling with injury but has still contributed three goals and nine assists.

Manchester United remain in second place following Chelsea's 3-0 reverse against Bournemouth but are now just five points clear of fifth place.
