Phewww!! Gol sangat berkelas dari James Wilson. Berhasil rebut bola dari lawan kemudian solo run tinggalkan 3 pemain Burney sebelum shoot & berbuah gol. Speed & powernya makin hari makin oke. Bentar lagi kayanya siap debut di tim utama. Kredit juga untuk Joel Perreira, si kiper jangkung terbang- terbang gitu bikin penyelamatan gemilang!

FT: Burnley U18 0 vs MUFC U18 2.

Gol kedua dari James Wilson, what a great run! Gak mau kalah dari Tom Lawrence rupanya!

U18s: Wolves 1 United 2

Manchester United’s Under-18s recorded a fine 2-1 win over Wolves on Saturday thanks to goals from Andreas Pereira and James Wilson at the Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground.

The victory puts Paul McGuinness’ side back on track in the Barclays U18 Premier League following a run of three consecutive defeats and provides a much-welcomed confidence boost ahead of Thursday’s pivotal FA Youth Cup fourth round tie with Leicester City.

The match started at a competitive pace and the Reds took the lead after just 14 minutes when Pereira rounded the Wanderers goalkeeper to finish with aplomb, despite the efforts of a nearby defender who unsuccessfully tried to clear the ball off the line.

Moments later, United were awarded a penalty but the chance to double the advantage was missed by Wilson, whose straight-laced penalty was well-saved by the home glovesman. Disappointingly, the youngster also blazed the rebound over the crossbar.

Wolves stepped up a gear after the break, though it was the Reds who were more clinical in front of goal and Wilson soon made amends for his spot-kick woes by outmuscling a defender, dribbling past the keeper and skilfully slotting home.

With the clock ticking on, Pereira then hit the post before the Wolves netted a fine riposte on the counter attack, prompting a slightly frantic finale in which the gallant hosts tried to salvage a point. Thankfully, United held on to record an excellent win.

Lagi-lagi Pereira ama Wilson yg nyekor

Reds face FA Youth Cup test

Manchester United are on back on the FA Youth Cup trail on Thursday with a fourth-round clash at Leicester City's King Power Stadium, live on MUTV.

The Reds will strive to repeat the Barclays Under-18 Premier League win against the Foxes in September, when Ashley Fletcher and Demetri Mitchell scored in a 2-1 triumph. The victors will travel to Huddersfield Town in the fifth round of the prestigious Youth Cup, which United last won in 2011.

Top goalscorer Fletcher has been sidelined by injury since the success at Burnley in the previous round but James Wilson, Saidy Janko and Andreas Pereira could all feature again, despite being involved with the Under-21s this term, as they all played in the weekend win at Wolves. Meanwhile Sean Goss will hope for a return to the line-up after coming off the bench during the 2-1 victory in the Black Country.

Ex-Reds manager Wilf McGuinness discussed his son Paul's role in developing youth talent at the Aon Training Complex during a recent interview with ManUtd.com. The former Busby Babe told us, "I am really proud of Paul's achievements as the Under-18s coach. There is a certain way in which United play and boys need to be taught that at a young age. I am really pleased to see my son guiding them in the right direction."

When asked if he still offers tips and guidance to the Under-18s coach, Wilf replied: "Paul knows his own mind now. When he was younger, I used to give him plenty of advice although I’m not sure he ever listened to me! He’s overseeing a really important stage in a young player’s career, ensuring that they get a taste of what life as United player is like. They have still got to work hard and be extremely self-disciplined and of course, you’ve got to have self-belief. I think Paul is doing a good job instilling those values into his players."

FAYC: Leicester 0 United 1 (AET)

Manchester United progressed past Leicester City in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup thanks to a deflected extra-time strike by Andreas Pereira.

The Reds were made to fight all the way by the Foxes at the King Power Stadium but eventually secured a visit to Huddersfield Town on a draining evening for the two sets of players.

Paul McGuinness' side were dealt a real blow when James Wilson twisted his ankle in training on Wednesday to join knee-injury victim Ashley Fletcher on the sidelines with Under-16 prospect Marcus Rashford instead pitched into a lone striker's role.

It was nip and tuck in the first half with the Reds enjoying spells of possession but rarely troubling the well-organised City backline. Macauley King was booked inside five minutes for a late tackle on Ben Barber but the hosts did not need to resort to aggressive tactics to keep United at bay.

Josh Harrop and skipper Andreas Pereira produced tame efforts before Joel Castro Pereira produced saves to thwart Kyle Bailey and Brandon Fox, with the latter a genuinely top-class stop after a right-footed screamer appeared destined for the net.

Callum Evans' inviting cross deserved a finish but it perhaps said much that the closest Red to it was fellow full-back Barber while Harrop spurned the clearest opening of the half, riding a foul challenge inside the box, but firing well off target. Andreas Pereira had a deflected attempt wide soon afterwards as Leicester were more accurate with their shooting with Matty Miles' snap-shot well held by Joel Castro Pereira.

Although United started the second period in attacking mode, Liam Sharpe was still not extended as he watched a speculative long-ranger by Nicholas Ioannou loop wide. Furthermore, the East Midlanders remained a threat during their sporadic moves forward with Fox belting a shot into the side-netting and then almost pouncing after a lightning run by Bailey.

Rashford went off with cramp after giving his all to hand Demetri Mitchell a chance to impress and provide a cutting edge. With four minutes left of normal time, Andreas Pereira arrowed a trademark free-kick towards goal that forced a fingertip save out of Sharpe and the home keeper then kept out Mitchell at his near post after a spellbinding piece of skill by the substitute.

Joel Castro Pereira made another outstanding stop from Daniel Rowe but was grateful for a Mitchell clearance when he missed the resulting corner and, after Matthew Willock and Andreas Pereira cleared the bar with attempts, another save by the United No1 sparked the attack that led to the goal.

Andreas Pereira collected a Harrop pass and saw his shot from the edge of the 'D' loop off Sam Jones and over the stranded Sharpe to finally break the deadlock with 101 minutes on the clock. Ioannou and Ryan McConnell continued to defend in resilient fashion at the heart of the defence and the solitary goal proved sufficient in the end with Evans also putting in a great shift during the additional 30 minutes.

United: J.Pereira; Evans, McConnell, Ioannou (Borthwick-Jackson 117), Barber; Janko, Goss, Willock, A.Pereira, Harrop (Riley 113); Rashford (Mitchell 80). Subs not used: Henderson, Thompson.

U18s: United 1 N'castle 2

Manchester United Under-18s slipped to a first loss of 2014 as Newcastle United scored a goal in each half at a storm-hit Aon Training Complex.

Paul McGuinness' side drew level through Joe Riley early in the second period, only for the visitors to reclaim the lead and then defend it solidly for the final 22 minutes of the match.

Newcastle, wearing a Brazil-style away kit, arguably mastered the difficult conditions better than their hosts, producing some flowing football at times to put Paul McGuinness' boys on the back foot. Both of their strikes, in the 36th and 68th minutes, were created on the left flank by winger Rolando Aarons. For the first one, he cut inside and fired across Reds keeper Dean Henderson himself; for the second goal, he pulled the ball back for striker Adam Armstrong to plant home the winner.

Riley's equaliser, meanwhile, was a close-range conversion after the Magpies failed to clear their lines in the 54th minute.

Seemingly all kinds of weather, from sunshine to hail, were experienced at the Aon Training Complex. At one stage, the presence of lightning prompted the referee in the Under-16s match on an adjacent pitch to take the teams off as a precaution.

United: Henderson, Evans (Redmond, 73), Thompson, McConnell, Borthwick-Jackson, Goss, Riley, Willock, Rashford (McTomnay, 81), Harrop, Mitchell. Subs unused: Ioannou, J Pereira, Barber, Croskery.

Manchester United Under-18s were beaten 2-1 by Bolton Wanderers in driving rain on Tuesday afternoon.

Paul McGuinness' side were under pressure in the first half with Joel Castro Pereira making a fine fingertip save to thwart the dangerous William Abbotts. Jamie Thomas drilled a free-kick wide and it was no great shock when lanky striker Abbotts teed up Elliott Newby for the opener.

United struggled to carve out too many openings but one superb move led to Matthew Willock forcing a save out of Harry Campbell, while Ruairi Croskery and Josh Harrop managed off-target attempts.

Ro-Shaun Williams came off the bench for the second half for his debut at this level, alongside Marcus Rashford, who started the FA Youth Cup tie at Leicester City. The visitors looked slicker in attack after the break, with captain Ryan McConnell and Willock sending in long-range efforts.

Sean Goss levelled the scores with a venomous drive, when the ball broke to him outside the box, and was unlucky to clip the bar soon afterwards with another decent strike.

It proved a pivotal moment as, moments later, Thomas, who had already forced a stop out of Pereira, supplied a clinical finish to regain the lead for the Trotters.

With the conditions worsening, most of the noteworthy efforts in the closing stages came from the hosts, with Rashford firing over a rare shot for the Reds. Ben Barber made one goal-saving block inside the six-yard box as Bolton comfortably held out for the three points, with defender McConnell thrown up front for the final couple of minutes.

United: J. Pereira; Evans (Williams 46), McConnell, Ioannou, Barber; Harrop, Goss, Willock, Redmond, McTominay (Riley 68); Croskery (Rashford 46). Sub not used: Dorrington.

Reds fix Youth Cup date

Quote:
FA Youth Cup fifth round

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN

MANCHESTER UNITED

Admission: £5 adults, £3 concessions.

Manchester United's FA Youth Cup tie at Huddersfield Town will take place on Friday 14 February.

The Reds' reward for defeating Leicester City after extra-time in the fourth round is a third consecutive match on the road against a Championship club.

United have not faced Huddersfield in senior competition since March 1972 and the Reds have never played at the John Smith's Stadium, formerly named the Alfred McAlpine and Galpharm Stadium.

Ex-Oldham striker Frankie Bunn is in charge of the Terriers' Academy team with former Red Mark Robins managing the first team. The Yorkshiremen won 4-2 at West Brom in the previous round and have posted a fine record in their division, the Professional Development League Two.

If the score is level at the end of 90 minutes, an additional half an hour of extra time will be played, plus penalties if required. The scheduled fixture at Everton on Saturday 15 February has now been postponed with a new date to be confirmed.
