Default Re: Andai Ronaldo kembali ke Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo is too busy polishing his individual prizes to think about the team... Manchester United should forget about him and go for Neymar

* Manchester United should think hard about a bid for Cristiano Ronaldo
* The Portuguese is not a team player and is only concerned for himself
* This was once again evident as Real Madrid were thrashed by Barcelona
* Manager Rafa Benitez will be fall guy due to Ronaldo's latest histrionics
* United would be better off pursuing Barca's incredible Neymar

The most surreal transfer story of last weekend is the one that linked two players to Manchester United – Cristiano Ronaldo and Saido Berahino.

Merely the two names in the same sentence commanded a quadruple take. When I finished laughing, I thought about the possibility of the Portugal legend returning to Old Trafford.

It’s impossible to say it’s a bad move. But it’s an expensive one that everyone at United should think very carefully about. They’d be better off resuming their pursuit of the incredible Neymar.

El Clasico was a fantastic example of why Ronaldo will always be in Messi’s shadow, and why Rafa Benitez will struggle to be a success at the Bernabeu.

As an individual Ronaldo is wonderful. But a truly brilliant footballer knows how to apply his skills to benefit the team.

When Madrid are losing Ronaldo is quick to blame team-mates, snarling and scowling at every misplaced pass. When he scores the winning goal, he doesn’t want anyone else in the picture as he celebrates the moment. Everybody look at Ronaldo.

I watched my nephew play football on Sunday morning, his team won 6-0, and the first three goals were all followed by a Ronaldo-based celebration.

One kid on his own, arms thrashing down by his side, chest out, and some sort of beastly noise emerging from the voicebox, no team-mates involved. It’s all about Ronaldo.

He wants to be a one-man team. Messi wants to be in a winning team.

Cristiano Ronaldo is on the verge of leaving Real Madrid - but potential suitors should think twice

This weekend, Barcelona had the game won before they even introduced Messi. It’s true, there are times when you are irresistibly drawn towards the glamour and quality of Ronaldo. Of course he’s one of the best the world has ever seen.

But one title and one Champions League win in his time at Madrid must frustrate him – if he really is on Messi’s level he knows he needs more medals to prove it.

Right now, not only is Messi ahead of him, others are bypassing him too. And Ronaldo should be angry about it.

While Barcelona signed true superstars with extreme talent like Luis Suarez and Neymar, Madrid signed Gareth Bale and Isco - terrific players who stood out with previous teams, but not at the stellar level needed for Real Madrid to dominate as Barca have done.

Ronaldo is a confusing contradiction: his ego dictated he had to be the star man so Madrid have been severely restricted in terms of who they could sign. Yet he wants to win everything every season.

The two do not mix. Subsequently he’s left frustrated – clearly the star at a great club. But one that is underachieving.

The fall guy will be Rafa Benitez. This man is interested in managing a team, not pandering to the ego of the individual. Look at how he was with John Terry at Chelsea. Rafa’s talents are as ill-suited to Madrid as they were at Stamford Bridge.

Benitez is underrated, certainly by many in England: look at what he did at Liverpool – one season and boom! Champions League. Incredible. Sure he lost his way, but his record there was special, as it was at Valencia before that.

Real Madrid’s incredible success at the turn of the century – three times champions of Europe between 1998 and 2003 – was down to some great players, but they played for the team. It was a time when Steve McManaman could win man of the match as easily as Zinedine Zidane.

Look at the 2000 final in Paris when Real beat Valencia 3-0 – McManaman was absolutely world class in central midfield that night.

Right now Real Madrid are all about Cristiano Ronaldo, and whoever is lurking in his massive shadow will always be on the periphery.

Bale started to show signs of greatness in his first season – the Copa del Rey and the Champions League final. But then the comparisons with Ronaldo went into overdrive, and Bale sunk back into the shadows where the Portuguese superstar wanted him to stay.

This weekend Messi wasn’t fit and didn’t start, Madrid could have gone top of La Liga and they had home advantage. But the stunningly brilliant Neymar and Suarez laughed in Ronaldo’s face and humiliated Madrid on their own turf.

Those white hankies should have been for Ronaldo as much as Benitez.

Yes, three times World Player of the Year, and yes he broke Raul’s scoring record at Real; but he’s been too busy polishing all his individual gongs to realise the team must always come first.

Manchester United Transfer News: Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo Rodriguez Rumours

The relationship between Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and Cristiano Ronaldo could yet force the Portugal icon into the arms of Manchester United, after reports suggested Los Blancos do not believe Paris Saint-Germain want the player but "hope" the Red Devils do.

Rob Draper of the Daily Mail reported the two Bernabeu alpha males' relationship is still in question and Madrid executives have discussed the possibility of selling Ronaldo soon as Gareth Bale emerges from his illustrious team-mate's shadow.

Draper explained:

Quote:
In fact, the dynamic between Bale and Ronaldo has been one of the central stories of the club in recent times.

Perez was infuriated by the fact that Ronaldo dominated the club and their relationship was at such a low ebb that executives discussed selling him this summer, though they believe Paris Saint-Germain will not buy him. They hope Manchester United might.
United are currently in dire straits after losing at Old Trafford to Southampton, providing yet another weak team performance with no bite or substance. The club are quickly dropping out of the picture for a top-four finish in the Premier League as Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City maintain their form.

Ronaldo would provide United with a quick fix for their beleaguered attack, but it is highly questionable whether he would be motivated to link up with manager Louis van Gaal, whose tactics have baffled fans and experts alike.

However, Ronaldo would surely be tempted to join a fresh revolution at the Theatre of Dreams if Jose Mourinho arrives in the north-west, as reported by Paul Hetherington and Harry Pratt of the Daily Star Sunday.

The United board need to make a swift decision regarding the managerial future of LvG if they want to grab Ronaldo's signature and commitment, but they could opt for Ryan Giggs over the self-proclaimed Special One, per Hetherington and Pratt.

The arrival of Mourinho would immediate change the toxic mood among fans at United and would also open the door for a big-money move for their former winger. Ronaldo will have little interest joining a team that does not qualify for the Champions League, but a three-year project with Mourinho to recapture lost glories at Old Trafford could appeal to his ego.

In other news, United could be set to move swiftly before the end of the January transfer window for Wolfsburg full-back Ricardo Rodriguez.

Mike McGrath of the Sun reported Van Gaal has sent scouts to watch the £20 million-rated Switzerland ace, with Real Madrid also interested in his talents. Rodriguez has a £27 million release clause in his contract, and United's recent injury crisis has left them bereft of full-backs.

The 23-year-old has started 18 matches in the Bundesliga and Champions League this term, according to WhoScored.com, and would immediately inject quality into United's defensive unit.

Van Gaal is at the lowest ebb of his United tenure, and the defeat to Southampton has left him scratching his head as to what to do next.

His failure now mirrors the collapsed stint of David Moyes, the man he replaced, at the helm, with the team unable to respond to the coach's tactics or philosophy.

United have many issues at present, but if a swift managerial change is made—bringing in Mourinho or promoting Giggs—the next course of action will be to buy a superstar player.

Ronaldo fits the profile of the kind of entity the team needs at present, and if he is willing to move in the summer, United should break the bank to bring the player back to England.

Real Madrid Transfer News: Cristiano Ronaldo Exit Predicted Amid United Rumours

Former Portugal international Paulo Futre believes Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Real Madrid for Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain this summer, as the star forward seeks one final massive payday.

The 30-year-old has so far pledged his allegiance to Los Blancos at every turn, but that hasn't stopped transfer rumours from swirling.

Real's poor fortunes under former manager Rafa Benitez didn't help matters, and while things have looked better under new boss Zinedine Zidane, Futre still thinks a summer move is likely for Ronaldo, per Goal's Stefan Coerts:

Quote:
It has been disheartening times for him. He has not been getting the affection he needs, although things are slightly better now following the arrival of Zinedine Zidane.

The big question is whether he will stay with Madrid or leave for PSG or Manchester United and I believe he will leave. I think a lot of things will have to change in order to convince him to stay.

It is the last opportunity for him and Jorge Mendes to negotiate a big contract somewhere in Europe.

I think Madrid will have to either win a major title like the Champions League or La Liga, or risk losing Cristiano at the end of the season.
Ronaldo is enjoying another prolific season for Real, having scored 16 goals in 21 La Liga starts, per WhoScored.com. However, the 2015-16 campaign has been far from perfect for the three-time Ballon d'Or winner.

Per El Espanol (h/t Goal), he has been banned from taking regular trips to Morocco, as his recent performances haven't been up to par. Jesus Balseiro of Madrid-based AS recently reported his conversion percentage sits at a lowly 11 percent, well below the numbers other top La Liga forwards are putting up.

There have also been a number of incidents on the pitch, most recently against Real Betis, but somehow, the veteran keeps getting away with lashing out at opponents, per Sport's Rik Sharma.

He remains one of the most gifted footballers on the planet and Real's most vital contributor, but Ronaldo hasn't looked himself in 2015-16, and a move may be what both parties need.

Los Blancos have won just one La Liga title and one UEFA Champions League since the Portuguese star joined the club in 2009, far too little for a club as ambitious as Real.

And with Barcelona looking like an unstoppable machine, president Florentino Perez should consider rebuilding the squad, which would start with getting rid of some of the veterans.

That includes Ronaldo, who would likely fetch a massive transfer fee that could go a long way toward a rebuild. PSG and Manchester United are frequently mentioned as potential destinations, and both have the cash to make a move for Ronaldo.

The links with the latter are obvious, as Ronaldo is still massively popular at Old Trafford after becoming a global superstar with United. Meanwhile, he has already made several comments that seemed to indicate he was open to a move to the French capital, to the annoyance of Real Madrid, per Sport's Alejandro Alcazar.

All talk of a transfer will likely have to wait until Zidane has had a chance to outline his plans for the future, however. Ronaldo didn't look himself during the few months of Benitez's tenure and still appears to be struggling, but it's possible he could rediscover his best form and love of the club in the coming months.

Should he finally win a second La Liga title or Champions League trophy with Los Blancos, he may be less tempted to leave the club during the summer―and Perez would surely be less inclined to cash in on his biggest asset.

Real Madrid Transfer News: Cristiano Ronaldo Price Named Amid United Rumours

Real Madrid will reportedly demand £48 million for Cristiano Ronaldo if they sell him this summer.

That's according to Sky Sports' Guillem Balague, who reported the Portuguese and Los Blancos "have been, in different ways, looking for a way out this summer" but Real are having difficulty finding suitors who can meet their asking price and Ronaldo's £16 to £20 million net salary.

Per Sport, one club interested in Ronaldo are Manchester United, who could look to bring him back to Old Trafford. Another is Paris Saint-Germain, whom Sport reported might have "switched attention to Neymar," but Balague believes they will have a much easier time prising Ronaldo away from Madrid than Neymar from Barcelona.

Sport's Lluis Mascaro further described Les Parisiens as "the team most interested in Ronaldo" as they seek a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and believes Balague's report to be "convincing," with the Portuguese not considered one of Florentino Perez's own signings and his "time in the capital has been full of bitterness."

PSG are reportedly more than willing to surpass Real's demands in order to make sure they land him, with Spanish outlet OK Diario (h/t Joe Short of the Express) reporting they have set aside £112 million to fend off United.

It seems as though Ronaldo will be plying his trade away from the Bernabeu next season despite scoring a phenomenal number of goals once again.

The superstar has often been below his best this season, racking up such a high tally of goals thanks in part to outstanding individual performances against the likes of Malmo and Espanyol rather than contributing week-in, week-out, but he could still be an excellent player for United once again or PSG.

The Red Devils have been poor up front for much of the season, but the injection of a player with Ronaldo's stature and killer finish would seriously reinvigorate their attack.

As for PSG, they're set to lose Ibrahimovic in the summer, and Ronaldo is one of relatively few players who could replace his goalscoring ability.

Both are realistic destinations for him, as his past with United and relationship with the Old Trafford faithful would likely work in their favour, while PSG can virtually offer guaranteed silverware—something he hasn't won nearly enough of with Real.

The latter might just be enough to swing it in the Ligue 1 side's favour, but a return to United wouldn't be too surprising.

Cristiano Ronaldo is happy at Real Madrid and will not be returning to former club Manchester United insists player's mother

* Cristiano Ronaldo is happy at Real Madrid and wants to finish career there
* His mother Dolores Aveiro was speaking at the launch of her biography
* Ronaldo spent six years at Manchester United winning Champions League
* The Portuguese moved to Spain in 2009 and is now the club's top-scorer

Cristiano Ronaldo is happy at Real Madrid and wants to finish his career with the club, according to his mother.

Rumours had been rife during the first-half of the season, that the Portuguese superstar was on his way out of the Bernabeu and his frosty relationship with then manager Rafa Benitez - who was subsequently replaced by Zinedine Zidane in January, hardly helped to defuse the situation.

Former side Manchester United - where Ronaldo spent six trophy-laden years, winning eight major honours and French champions PSG have both been linked with a move for the 31-year-old, who despite missing the midweek Champions League draw with Manchester City, remains content in Madrid, his mother Dolores Aveiro insisted at the launch of her new biography.

Cristiano Ronaldo is happy at Real Madrid and wants to finish his career with the club insists his mother

'Cristiano is happy here, he would like to finish his career at Real Madrid,' she said.

A five-goal haul in a 6–0 win over Espanyol took his tally in La Liga to 230 in 203 games, helping him to surpass the club's previous record-holder, Raúl and 11 goals in the group stage of Europe's elite club competition, point to another fine season for the forward, who has 47 goals thus far.

Given his rare absence at the Etihad, the question was put as to whether the player should sometimes agree to be rested or substituted occasionally, but this suggestion was quickly rebuffed by the 63-year-old, who says he has inherited her 'strong' character.'

'Ronaldo is a person who always wants more. He is like his mother. He has a strong personality, he is very proud and he always demands more. This is his worst defect.'

Cristiano Ronaldo: I think I will retire at Real Madrid... the club would be smart to extend my contract

* Cristiano Ronaldo has pledged his future to Spanish giants Real Madrid
* The Portuguese forward says he will likely end his career in the capital
* Ronaldo says Real Madrid would be smart to extend his contact

Cristiano Ronaldo appears to have ended any hopes of returning to Manchester United by declaring his wish to retire a Real Madrid player.

United tried and failed to lure Ronaldo back to the club that signed him aged 17 from Sporting Lisbon in 2003 and the Portuguese has regularly been linked with a return.

Ronaldo played under Jose Mourinho for three years in the Spanish capital but there appears little chance of the pair linking up again at Old Trafford. PSG have also shown an interest.

Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed he wants to retire at Real Madrid

But the 31-year-old has declared that he wants to retire at Real Madrid, telling the club they would be wise to extend his current deal.

'It's obvious I want to stay here. I think I am going to retire at Real Madrid,' Ronaldo told La Sexta's Jugones show.

'Renewal after the Champions League final? Let's see. Real Madrid would be smart if they extend my contract.

'I am happy at Real Madrid. I can see no club better than this one.'

Real Madrid had looked ready to offload the Portugal star but, as reported by Sportsmail last month, the Spanish giants are set to offer Ronaldo a new four-year deal worth £16.5million per season.

Ronaldo has two years remaining on his current deal and is aiming to add a third Champions League winner's medal – and second in three years with Real – to his trophy cabinet.

Zinedine Zidane's side face local rivals Atletico Madrid at the San Siro on Saturday night looking to win the 11th European Cup of their illustrious history.

Ronaldo's participation in the final had been thrown into doubt after he limped out of Tuesday's training session after contesting a ball with reserve goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

But Madrid's talisman played down an injury concerns: 'I had a little scare... but in a couple of days I will be fine,' Ronaldo said. 'I've had a little problem, but having been the most used player this season that is normal.

'I think it's the season where I've played the most minutes, and taking out this problem from training I am at my best.'
