ga cuma United kayaknya yg dipusingkan masalah rotasi.pasti Spurs jg bakal gitu...

United fringe players to face Spurs
-teamtalk.com-

Manchester United will field a similar team to the one that lost to Besiktas last week when they host Tottenham in the Carling Cup on Tuesday.

Teenage duo Federico Macheda and Danny Welbeck may start up front, although Michael Owen's experience could also be used as the holders try to defend their crown.

Rafael Da Silva could be included at right-back to give veteran Gary Neville a rest after two games in four days, while Ben Foster is expected to replace Tomasz Kuszczak in goal.

United (from): Foster, Kuszczak, Amos, Neville, De Laet, Brown, Vidic, Jonny Evans, Corry Evans, Evra, Rafael, Obertan, Valencia, Gibson, Anderson, Fletcher, Carrick, Nani, Park, Tosic, Berbatov, Rooney, Owen, King, James, Macheda, Welbeck.

Ferguson to recall youngsters for League Cup
-sportsillustrated.cnn.com-

LONDON (AP) -Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is set to recall a half dozen of his young players to face Tottenham in this week's League Cup quarterfinals, just a week after they slumped to an embarrassing loss in Europe.

United hosts Spurs in one of Tuesday's two matches in what is a rerun of last year's final, which Ferguson's team won in a shootout following a 0-0 draw.

Having started his strongest side on Saturday to help keep the club within five points of Premier League leader Chelsea, Ferguson will give Danny Welbeck, Federico Macheda, Rafael da Silva and Gabriel Obertan another chance to prove themselves worthy of a lengthy career with United.

They missed their last opportunity, losing 1-0 to Besiktas to surrender the club's eight-year unbeaten home record in the Champions League.

"It will be the same players that played on Wednesday,'' Ferguson said. "Their future is well marked out, I think.

"Of course, they will grow from that experience. I was confident of playing them and they had every right to play.''

Those four players are all between 18 and 20 years old, with 21-year-old Anderson and 22-year-old Darron Gibson also set to return against Spurs.

Ferguson said the sextet's development compared favorably with that of David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville, who helped United to the 1995-96 title in their first seasons as first-team regulars. They were all 20 at the start of that season.

Ferguson said his youngsters just need the experience of games against the likes of Tottenham, which is third in the Premier League and has reached the League Cup final each of the past two seasons.

"We're not talking about ability here; we're talking about experience,'' Ferguson said. "That's why we have to play them. Games are the one thing we have to give them.

"We can't just give them that old head that helps you deal with situations like on Wednesday in the final third of the field.''

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has to decide whether to stick with his strongest side, which beat Wigan 9-1 and then drew 1-1 at Aston Villa in its past two matches, or shuffle the lineup and jeopardize his chances of a shock win.

Luka Modric and Ledley King are still recuperating from injury, so Redknapp may tinker with rather than completely overhaul his team.

Man Utd v Tottenham
Carling Cup quarter-final
Venue: Old Trafford Date: Tuesday, 1 December 2009 Kick-off: 2000 GMT
Coverage: BBC Sport website, BBC Radio 5 live, BBC local radio & highlights on The League Cup Show

TEAM NEWS

Teenage strikers Federico Macheda and Danny Welbeck are in contention to start up front for United, but Michael Owen may get the nod.

Rafael Da Silva could be included at right-back to give veteran Gary Neville a rest, while Ben Foster is expected to replace Tomasz Kuszczak in goal.

Tottenham defender Ledley King is still out with a hamstring problem.

Giovani Dos Santos could feature after recently returning to training following an ankle injury.

MATCH PREVIEW

Tottenham, beaten on penalties by United in last year's final, are looking to reach the last four of the League Cup for a record-equalling 12th time.

Spurs have not won at Old Trafford since a Gary Lineker goal gave them a victory there nearly 20 years ago, and now face a United side that has not lost in this competition since being humbled by Coventry in 2007.

The north Londoners are third in the Premier League, and manager Harry Redknapp declared after Saturday's 1-1 draw at Aston Villa that his team are good enough to seriously challenge for a top-four finish.

Their performance at the weekend underlined how far they have progressed this season, and a win against United would further boost their growing reputation.

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

• These clubs have met 170 times. Manchester United have won 79 of those matches and Tottenham 46, with 45 drawn.

• United have not lost in 20 league and cup matches against Spurs. They have won 15 and drawn five since Tottenham's 3-1 home win in the Premier League in May 2001.

Manchester United

• Holders United are aiming to win this competition for the fourth time.

• All of their previous three League Cup triumphs have been under current boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

• The last goal United conceded in this competition was against Derby County in the second leg of last season's semi-finals.

Tottenham

• Tottenham have suffered just one defeat in regular play in their last 15 League Cup ties.

• They won this tournament in 1971, 1973, 1999 and 2008, and have been runners-up on three occasions.

• Leading Spurs to last season's final is the best Harry Redknapp has achieved in the League Cup as a manager.

• Peter Crouch is the joint leading scorer in this season's Carling Cup with four goals, including a hat-trick against Preston.

Tottenham out for revenge in Carling Cup clash with Manchester United
-telegraph.co.uk-

Harry Redknapp will make changes as Tottenham seek revenge at Old Trafford in Tuesday night’s Carling Cup quarter-final.

Redknapp is still without Jonathan Woodgate, Ledley King and Luka Modric and is expected to recall Alan Hutton, Gareth Bale and Robbie Keane.

Spurs lost 4-1 to United on penalties in last season’s Carling Cup final, following 120 goalless minutes, and with Sir Alex Ferguson also expected to make wholesale changes, Spurs will be keen to progress to the last four.

“Ledley will not be fit,” said Redknapp. “We want to make sure he’s alright, Woody’s had an injection in his groin and Luka was moving much, much better in training.

“We are looking forward to going to Old Trafford. I can change a few players around, players who have trained hard and showed a good attitude around the club.

“There’s a whole group who have been with me and the chance to make a few changes and see what we can do is there.

“We want to get to Wembley if we can, it’s a great day out. But it’s a tough week and gives me the chance to look at one or two players.”

Ferguson serves another touchline ban for his comments about referee Alan Wiley, but Redknapp does not believe it will make a difference.

“I don’t think it will affect the team,” added Redknapp. “All the shouting and the screaming in the world makes no difference. Him being on the touchline won’t make a difference. It didn’t make a difference at Portsmouth on Saturday.”

Match Pack: Tottenham

There will be no repeat of last year’s Carling Cup final as Sir Alex’s young team face Harry Redknapp’s high-flying Spurs in the quarter-finals…

Form guide: Tottenham will be travelling to Old Trafford with high hopes. They are unbeaten in three games, including a 9-1 mauling of Wigan a little over a week ago, and lie in third place in the Premier League table. Perhaps, after many years of false dawns, Spurs may finally be making a serious challenge for the top four. United are back on track in the league, but Sir Alex is likely to field a similar young side to the one that lost out to Besiktas last week, with sections of the media believing the Reds have a point to prove after a below-par Champions League performance.

Ins and outs: Redknapp will be missing three key players on Tuesday, but they are all long-term injuries with no fresh worries from the weekend. Ledley King is out with a hamstring problem, Luka Modric continues to nurse a fibula injury sustained in August, and Carlo Cudicini will be out for the foreseeable future after fracturing both wrists in a motorcycle accident. For the Reds, John O’Shea and Jonny Evans are again both doubts, while Rio Ferdinand continues to suffer from a back injury. It is still too early for Owen Hargreaves, who is making good progress in his recovery from a knee operation. Sir Alex is likely to opt for youth, as has been his wont in the Carling Cup.

Star man: Jermain Defoe is scoring goals left, right and centre, and is a good bet to be on the plane to South Africa in the summer. He hit five in the demolition of Wigan and is the Premier League's joint top scorer with Didier Drogba.

Manager: Redknapp has worked his usual magic and propelled Spurs up the table. They were bottom when he took over last season but was able to lead them to a top-half finish. This year Spurs topped the table early on and, despite a couple of wobbles against the top sides (Liverpool aside), are right in the hunt for a Champions League place. Former Portsmouth, Southampton and West Ham boss Redknapp continues to impress.

Referee: Mark Clattenburg is the man in charge of Tuesday’s game. The Tyne and Wear official was in charge for United’s win over Bolton in October, but Tottenham have experienced contrasting fortunes as he refereed their 3-0 defeat to Arsenal. He was suspended for much of last season, and last refereed a game between Tuesday's opponents in 2008, when Carlos Tevez's last-gasp header earned a point for United at White Hart Lane.

Rivals watch: Two other ties that may interest the Reds take place on Wednesday. Arsene Wenger's Arsenal kids travel to Eastlands hoping to avoid a repeat of their 4-2 league defeat to Man City earlier this season, whilst Blackburn host league leaders Chelsea. Portsmouth kick off against Aston Villa shortly before United.
