Re: [EPL] Blackpool vs Man Utd
Premier League - Match facts: Blackpool v Manchester United
Thu, 02 Dec 04:16:00 2010 | Uk.Eurosport.Yahoo.com Facts and figures ahead of Blackpool's Premier League clash with Manchester United at Bloomfield Road. The last time Blackpool and Manchester United were both in the top flight the two encounters ended 1-1. United are unbeaten in their last 12 Premier League away games, but have drawn six of the last seven. Blackpool haven’t kept a Premier League clean sheet at home, but only Blackburn have stopped them from scoring twice at Bloomfield Road. Nani leads the league in terms of goal assists with eight to his name so far. Manchester United have scored nine headed goals, more than any other team in the top flight. 88% of the goals Manchester United have conceded have been netted after the break, the highest percentage in the Premier League. Manchester United have scored with one in five of their goal attempts, the best ratio in the Premier League. Blackpool have allowed their opponents more shots on target against them than any other team, 102. Manchester United have allowed fewer shots on target against them than any other side, 50. Only West Ham have shipped more headed goals (nine) than Blackpool (seven) in the Premier League this season.

Re: [EPL] Blackpool vs Man Utd
02/12/2010 14:00 - ManUtd.com, Mark Froggatt
Match Pack: Blackpool Staying top is the target as United visit Bloomfield Road for the first time since 1974… Form guide Despite being early tips for relegation, Blackpool have been holding their own in the Barclays Premier League thus far, picking up 19 points from 15 games - the same tally as Liverpool and fellow promoted sides Newcastle and West Brom. Ian Holloway’s side are currently enjoying a three-match unbeaten run and have not lost at Bloomfield Road since 17 October when Man City won there 3-2. Meanwhile the Reds are top for the first time this season, after Dimitar Berbatov’s five-goal haul inspired United to a 7-1 thrashing of Blackburn Rovers. However, delight turned to disappointment on Tuesday night as a 4-0 defeat at West Ham sent the Reds out of the Carling Cup and ended a 29-game unbeaten run in all competitions. Ins and outs Ian Holloway is set to name a similar side to that which earned a 2-2 draw at high-flying Bolton Wanderers last weekend. Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Kingston will continue to deputise for the injured Matt Gilks, who is recovering from a broken kneecap whilst Marlon Harewood is unavailable with a hamstring strain. Some of United's big guns are set to return after being rested for the midweek Carling Cup exit. For example, Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand are expected to start, as well as Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov, who will hope to continue the fine form shown against Blackburn. Ryan Giggs could retain his place after recovering from a hamstring injury. Star man Club captain Charlie Adam has been integral to Blackpool’s success since signing on at Bloomfield Road from Rangers in 2009. The Scottish international scored 18 goals from midfield to lead the Seasiders into the Championship play-off final last season, where his 13th minute goal inspired Ian Holloway’s men to a 3-2 victory over Cardiff City and promotion to the top flight. This season, Adam has been a stand-out performer, scoring three times from the left wing and prompting speculation about a move to Everton, Wigan or Blackburn in January. Manager Ian Holloway is one of football’s great characters and a fans' favourite up and down the land, particularly in Blackpool, where the former Bristol Rovers player-manager transformed the Tangerines from Championship strugglers to Premier League contenders after his first season in charge. This season, Holloway has defied the critics who claimed his side lacked the quality needed to compete in the top flight by guiding the Seasiders into a mid-table berth. Referee Experienced official Peter Walton - a top-flight referee since 2003 - takes charge of his second United game for this season. We last saw him at Fulham in August when the Reds were held 2-2. Rivals watch Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are all at home on Saturday, against Fulham, Everton and Bolton respectively.
