Re: Michael Carrick
Re: Michael Carrick
Carrick warning over thrashing
-thesun.co.uk- MICHAEL CARRICK believes Manchester United's demolition of Wigan is a warning the champions are getting back to their best. Alex Ferguson's men moved within two points and two goals of leaders Chelsea with the 5-0 Old Trafford thrashing. And Carrick, who hit the second, feels United are hitting form at just the right time. He said: "Two points difference is not the end of world for us. We're pretty comfortable with where we are. "We are experienced enough to be patient. "We know with the run-in, and everyone fit and playing consistently, we've a chance. The team has changed a lot in recent weeks but it's about getting through it and picking up as many points as possible. "We played some terrific football against Wigan and looked like the team we know we can be." Carrick admits United have not been quite on top of their game so far this season but insists performances like that against the Latics will only help. He added: "Hopefully, this sort of game can get us back to our top form. At home we haven't really hit our best. "But we want to improve and now is the time to do it." |

Michael Carrick expects Manchester United to improve

Photograph: Richard Sellers/Sportsphoto Michael Carrick is expecting far more convincing displays from Manchester United during the second half of the season. "We have not hit top form all season, especially at home," said Carrick. "We have just been doing enough to get through. We know we are better than that and now is the time to do it. "It is a busy time until the end of the season. We need to get a run going and start playing some good football. "We are in a good position in the league, we have the FA Cup coming up, we are through to the Champions League last 16 and reached the Carling Cup semi-finals. We have done as much as we can so far. Now is the time to really drive on and achieve things again. That is why we are here." Carrick is also relishing Manchester United's FA Cup tie with Leeds this weekend. "Experiencing those types of feisty atmospheres are why you play football," he said. "Rivalries like that add extra spice. It is great for the fans and good for the players. "No matter where you play, or whether the atmosphere is for or against you, it is a great feeling to play. Leeds are bringing a lot of fans and we are looking forward to it. It should be a cracking game." guardian |

Re: Michael Carrick
Carrick: Winning the league is always the priority
-strettyender.com- Despite starting the new year with a defeat, Michael Carrick admits the priories of the club haven’t changed. The Premier League is always the number one priority, followed closely by the Champions League and then the domestic cups. The midfielder wants to win as much silverware as possible in 2010 and make it four titles in a row. “Our first aim in 2010 is to win the league again,” says Carrick. “It’s always been the first thing we’ve set out to do and to win four in a row would be amazing,” he told manutd.com. “Then there’s the Champions League. Given how tough it is to be successful, our record over the last few years has been very good. We also want to do well in the Carling Cup. We want to get our hands on as much as possible.” Michael Carrick is a traditionally slow starter in the league and admits it’s this part of the season that he enjoys most because of the importance of each game. “It gets earlier each year! This season has been strange with some odd results. But it’s a vital time, the manager has stressed that to us, although most of us have been here before. “We know how important it is. It’s always three more vital points or the next round of a cup, so every game becomes more important.” |

Re: Michael Carrick
Michael Carrick insists: One cup defeat has not ended Manchester United's season
-dailymail.co.uk- When life was better: Wayne Rooney celebrates scoring against Wigan with Michael Carrick Michael Carrick knows Manchester United need to hit the winning trail again once they manage to re-start their campaign. After successive wins against Hull and Wigan immediately after Christmas, 2010 looked set to start on a positive note for Sir Alex Ferguson's team. Instead, it all went wrong on Sunday when they were bundled out of the FA Cup by League One Leeds United at Old Trafford. The postponement of tonight's Carling Cup semi-final with Manchester City at Eastlands has prevented the Red Devils giving the new year a belated kick start. Providing the snow relents, Ferguson and his men will travel to Birmingham on Saturday to face Alex McLeish's in-form Blues. And midfielder Carrick knows victory is essential. 'This season has been strange with some odd results,' said the England star. 'But it is a vital time. The manager has stressed that to us. 'Although most of us have been here before he has told us how every game becomes more important.' The extra recovery time should mean Nemanja Vidic is available for the trip to St Andrew's after he tweaked a nerve in his leg during the warm-up for Sunday's defeat and opted to pull out. That move only fuelled speculation about Vidic's future, even though the defender has always publicly stated his desire to remain at United. Confident: Manchester United's Michael Carrick isn't panicking despite his side's winless start to the decade Real Madrid are the latest club to be linked with the Serbian, with the suggestion that the Spanish giants might want to do a deal this month, even though Vidic would be ineligible for the Champions League. However, Vidic's agent Paolo Fabbri has tried to play down such talk. 'I am quite surprised by all these rumours, the situation is under control and is not unusual,' said Fabbri. 'As far as I know the player is not negotiating with any other club. Regarding the mood of the player, I think it is standard. I have not spoken to him since the last defeat, but as far as I know there is no problem.' |

Re: Michael Carrick
Michael Carrick shocked by red card
-espnstar.com- Michael Carrick admits he was 'shocked' to be sent off at the end of Manchester United's 3-2 win over AC Milan. The midfielder was shown a second yellow card in stoppage-time after flicking the ball away following Patrice Evra's foul on Alexandre Pato. Sir Alex Ferguson had few complaints with the decision and stated that Portuguese referee Olegario Benquerenca had little option but to dismiss Carrick. However, following a first red card of his professional career, Carrick feels he was harshly treated by the decision, which rules the England international out of the second leg of the UEFA Champions League last-16 tie in three weeks' time. "It was very soft to be honest," Carrick told Sky Sports News. "It rolled at me and I flicked it into Pat's path as he's ran past me. "It wasn't as if there was a player from their team trying to get it and it didn't slow the game down in any way. "I was just shocked really, to be honest." Asked if he spoke to the referee about the incident, Carrick replied: "What can you say really? "He said it was for kicking the ball away, but I don't believe I kicked the ball away to be honest. "I didn't slow the game down in any way, I was just surprised more than anything." ================================================== ======= kira2 bisa di appeal gak yah red cardnya?? |
