Michael Carrick has hailed the energy and enthusiasm that David Moyes has brought to the club since taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson.

Carrick caught up with ManUtd.com on arrival in Sydney (with the Opera House making a spectacular backdrop) and revealed how much the players are enjoying working under the new manager as they continue preparations for the new season.

"The tour has been really good so far and there is a great atmosphere around the place," the midfielder told us. "The manager has brought that in. He's enthusiastic and energetic and intense with his work, and that's rubbed off on everyone. Training has been good and there is a huge focus and a good feel around the place.

"The manager is hands-on in training. He's a lot different to Sir Alex in that sense – he tended to take a step back and let the coaches deal with things, whereas David likes to be right in the thick of it and that's good. It creates an intensity and everyone has responded to that."

Benar kata Carrick, jiwa antusiasme Moyes benar- benar besar. Nampak di foto latihan Moyes rela menemani Youngster team (Fabio, Zaha, Januzaj, Cleverley, Welbeck, Keane) untuk lari bersama coach Gary Walker.

Setidaknya untuk strategy bangun tim kita tau kalau Moyes memang tertarik & konsentrasi bangun tim dengan pemain muda dari akademi maupun yang sudah ada diskuad utama saat ini. Mudah- mudahan kata- katanya di beberapa konfrensi pers gak mubazir.

Moyes Targetkan Seperempat Gelar Fergie di United

TEMPO.CO, Sydney - David Moyes sadar diri kalau dia sulit menyamai pendahulunya di Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson. Moyes yang juga dari Skotlandia itu--sama dengan Ferguson--mengaku sudah cukup senang kalau bisa memenangkan seperempat gelar yang dimenangkan Ferguson bersama United.

Dua puluh enam tahun melatih United, Ferguson meraup 38 piala bergengsi. Tak ayal Moyes menganggap Ferguson sebagai manajer sepak bola terbaik yang pernah ada.

"Ini musim pertama saya sebagai manajer United dan aku meneruskan pekerjaan, mungkin seorang manajer sepakbola terbaik yang pernah hidup," kata Moyes kepada The Sun, Senin, 15 Juli 2013. "Jika saya bahkan bisa memenangkan seperempat dari apa yang ia (Ferguson) menangi, maka saya akan melakukannya dengan sangat baik (tugas sebagai penerus Ferguson)."

Untuk memenuhi mimpi 9-10 gelar bergengsi, Moyes mengaku pertama-tama sudah mengatur cara kerjanya, termasuk mengenal semua orang di Old Trafford. Moyes merasa beruntung semua orang di Manchester membuat segalanya terasa mudah.

"Para pemain, terutama, sudah hebat melakukannya dan kami akan menambahkan satu atau dua pemain lagi untuk bergabung dengan kami, yang mungkin telah pergi dengan tim nasional selama musim panas dan akan kembali bulan depan," ujar Moyes.

Penyerang andalan United Robin van Persie terpaksa melewatkan uji coba ketika The Red Devils kalah dari Singha All-Stars pekan lalu. Moyes juga berharap bisa mendatangkan beberapa pemain top untuk membantu upayanya mempertahankan gelar Liga seperti Cesc Fabregas yang dilaporkan sudah ditawar resmi oleh United.

First win pleases Moyes

David Moyes was a happy man after Manchester United recorded the first win of his managerial reign by beating the Foxtel A-League All Stars 5-1 in Sydney.

After a lethargic display in last weekend’s pre-season opener in Bangkok, United looked slick at the ANZ Stadium, comfortably overcoming the hosts in front of 83,000 fans.

"It was a special night to get my first victory as Manchester United manager," he told a press conference. "It was a good performance. We could maybe have got a few more goals – we hit the post and had one or two other chances as well.

"The opposition put on a good show, especially in the first half, when they caused us one or two problems. Once we got the goals we got the chance to control the game a little.

"It was a good game for us. We stepped up and I thought we looked a bit fitter tonight, a bit more ready, and the temperature possibly helped us a bit more than in Thailand."

Jesse Lingard and Danny Welbeck scored two apiece before, in his first pre-season action, Robin van Persie netted a fifth, and Moyes had praise for them all.

"To get Robin back on and started was good but I think it was impressive that Danny scored a couple of goals – he might have got four or five on another night," Moyes said.

"The keeper saved one from him with his feet in the first half and he was a bit unlucky. He made a couple of great runs.

"Jesse played well and I was hoping he would get a hat-trick because I think for a young boy to do that for Manchester United is a big thing.

"But his performance was very good – he set Robin up for his goal as well with a nice weighted pass. And not only did he play well, he worked hard and showed maturity."

Moyes revealed on Friday that he’d had a one-to-one with Welbeck, who he clearly rates very highly.

The boss said: "I told him that if he continued to work as hard as he has done, he’d get the rewards. I think he showed a little bit of versatility in everything he did tonight."

Wilfried Zaha made his first start in a United shirt and was again promising on the right wing, with Moyes adding: "I thought Zaha made a contribution and was unlucky not to score. We also got the chance to see Michael Keane in the second half."

Moyes, who revealed he had no further updates on his bid to sign Cesc Fabregas, was asked by a Scottish journalist if he was looking forward to mind games with new Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

"Your accent sounds like mine and if you’re in Glasgow then you enjoy those sorts of things, so bring it on!" he joked.

United move on to Japan on Sunday for the next leg of Tour 2013 presented by Aon and Moyes will leave Australia with happy memories.

"To get 83,000 fans here tonight is incredible and I thank all of them for coming," he said. Everybody is saying that the amount of support this club has worldwide has been shown again by coming here to Sydney."
