Glazers Haramkan Hijau Kuning di Old Trafford



VIVAnews - Penggemar setia Manchester United menyuarakan kekecewaannya kepada pemilik, Keluarga Glazer, dengan menggunakan warna kuning dan hijau di tubuh mereka. Dalam bentuk pakaian maupun scarf, warna itu menggantikan merah sebagai lambang kebesaran Setan Merah.

Kesal dengan perlakukan itu, keluarga Glazer kini dilaporkan telah melarang fans memasuki Old Trafford menggunakan warna kuning-hijau itu. Seperti dilaporkan The Daily Mail, Selasa 4 Mei 2010, Asosiasi Pendukung Independen

Manchester United (IMUSA) menyatakan kalau ada beberapa penonton yang dicegah masuk Old Trafford karena menggunakan warna tersebut. Kejadian ini berlangsung ketika tim cadangan MU bertemu Aston Villa.

"Banyak penonton yang dicegah untuk melihat kemenangan mereka (tim MU muda). Penonton dihentikan CES (tim keamanan yang disewa MU) karena dukungan mereka kepada protes (melawan Glazer) di beberapa acara sebelumnya," demikian pernyataan IMUSA.

"Kami juga diberi tahu kalau ada intel polisi yang bergabung dengan intimidasi ini," tambahnya.

Anggota keamanan CES yang melakukan 'peringatan verbal' diduga tidak menggunakan lencana yang biasa digunakan. IMUSA pun melancarkan 'kekhawatiran' atas tekanan yang diberikan oleh aparat bayaran itu.

Keluarga Glazer dianggap sebagai biang kekacauan manajemen MU. Klan pengusaha asal Amerika Serikat ini bahkan menjual markas latihan Setan Merah dan tidak menutup kemungkinan untuk melepas Old Trafford.

Atas hal ini, para penggemar berat MU yang tergabung dalam Red Knights menyatakan siap membeli saham MU dari tangan Glazer. (one)

Manchester United's security staff have been accused of denying supporters entry to Monday's reserve league final at Old Trafford because they believed the fans were about to engage in a green and gold protest.

United's reserves celebrate their Premier Reserve League Play-Off success against Aston Villa

But United have played down the incident, saying the initial decision was taken because the size of the banners being carried contravened ground regulations.

"As a result of meetings between the club and IMUSA, banners are allowed at Old Trafford that conform to our regulations,'' said a United spokesman. "Fans are free to protest providing it is in a peaceful way.''

Green and gold scarves have become a visual reminder of the opposition to the Glazer family's ownership of the Red Devils at United matches since January.

Supporters groups opposed to the Glazer regime estimate that "99%" of fans are against the owners, who they hope will accept an offer for the club from the Red Knights group which is due to be launched at some point in June.

Both Sir Alex Ferguson and United chief executive David Gill have backed the rights of fans to protest, even if they do not agree with the sentiments.

Only this weekend, Gill addressed the issue in the Manchester United Disabled Supporters Association magazine Rollin' Reds.

He said: "I have asked the players and they say they are not distracted, but if your question is 'would I prefer all red and white instead of gold and green when you have a full stadium and you are playing host to famous opposition', of course I would.

"If the question is 'would I prefer not to look out of my office and see the scarves they are selling on the street', of course I'd prefer that. But as Alex has said, people have a right to protest.

"Nobody is going to stop that, and in the ground itself we are not going to stop that."

United's security experts CES were accused of ignoring that stance by the Independent Manchester United Supporters Association.

"The reserves played Aston Villa in front of a crowd of about 4,000 but many fans were prevented from seeing their victory as large groups of CES (who were again not showing their badges) stopped people in their twos and threes from gaining entry because of their supposed involvement in protests on other occasions," a statement from IMUSA said.

"We are also told that the local police intelligence officer joined in with this intimidation, giving people 'verbal warnings' for having engaged in legitimate peaceful protests at other matches. This same officer told whoever cared to listen that 'he didn't need a reason' when asked why he was evicting a small number of young teenagers from the ground.

"IMUSA remains deeply concerned about the moral and legal implications surrounding this heavy handed approach to the suppression of legitimate protest."

United won their Premier Reserve League Play-Off match against Aston Villa on penalties to clinch the title, with goalkeeper Ben Foster among the scorers in the shoot-out.

Pemain MU Dilarang Dukung Kampanye Anti-Glazer

Manchester - Gerakan anti keluarga Glazer di kalangan suporter Manchester United terus bergulir deras. Pihak klub sampai melarang para pemain untuk memperlihatkan dukungan kepada gerakan itu.

Musim ini, gerakan anti Glazer diwujudkan dengan cara mengenakan atribut berwarna hijau-emas, warna MU di abad 19. Itu adalah cara para pendukung untuk mengusir Glazer yang dianggap telah merusak MU.

Minggu (9/5/2010) nanti, MU akan memainkan laga terakhirnya musim ini dengan menjamu Stoke City di Old Trafford. Suporter anti Glazer sudah bertekad untuk membanjiri stadion dengan atribut hijau-emas lagi.

Melihat gelagat tersebut, MU kemudian melarang para pemainnya untuk memungut atribut apapun yang berwarna hijau-emas di lapangan.

"Perintah itu datang dari atas yang memerintahkan para pemain hanya boleh memungut scarf, topi dan bendera berwarna merah dan putih saja," bisik seorang sumber di dalam MU kepada The Sun.

MU sepertinya tidak mau kecologan seperti insiden David Beckham. Maret lalu, Beckham yang bertandang ke Old Trafford bersama AC Milan memungut syal hijau-emas yang bisa diterjemahkan sebagai dukungan kepada gerakan anti Glazer.

"Insiden Beckham cukup memalukan buat klub dan mereka tidak mau kali ini Wayne Rooney atau Ryan Giggs terlihat memakai (atribut) hijau-emas," tandas sang sumber.

A mass anti-Glazer protest took place at Old Trafford ahead of this afternoon's Barclays Premier League meeting between Manchester United and Stoke.

With feelings running high on the final day of the season, hundreds of supporters congregated outside the directors' box and chanted venomous anti-Glazer songs before being moved on by police.

Avram Glazer, the co-chairman of Manchester United, had been due to attend this afternoon's game but never made the journey due to flying restrictions imposed because of the on-going ash cloud disruption.

The demonstration is the start of an escalation in the anti-Glazer campaign, aimed at driving the Americans out of Old Trafford.

The Glazers have never been welcomed by a minority of supporters, but those feelings have grown markedly this season as the full scale of the debts incurred in their controversial takeover have become clear.

A successful bond issue earlier this year highlighted the potential for the sale of both Old Trafford and the club's state-of-the-art Carrington training complex should the Glazers hit problems with the repayments.

Sir Alex Ferguson signs a Manchester United protest scarf



Sir Alex Ferguson has been caught on camera autographing a green-and-gold Manchester United protest scarf.

On the day the players had been warned to steer clear of the dissident supporters' anti-Glazer campaign, a mobile phone video clip appeared on a United fan website last night clearly showing the manager taking the scarf from a fan and signing it.

The green-and-gold scarves have become a highly visible sign of supporter rebellion against the club's American owners, the Glazer family, who are being blamed for saddling Old Trafford with debts exceeding £700million.

Yesterday, United made it clear to their players not to pick up any green-and-gold scarves thrown by fans in their direction during the end-of-season lap of honour after today's game against Stoke.

Ferguson has publicly been neutral towards the movement. With the Red Knights - the group of wealthy businessmen who want to oust the Glazers - poised to launch a £1.2billion bid for the club, the influential Manchester United Supporters Trust are planning a protest today.

Manchester - Pekan terakhir dari Premier League musim ini dijadikan ajang berdemonstrasi oleh sekelompok pendukung Manchester United. Yang disuarakan masih sama: meminta keluarga Glazer melepas kepemilikan The Red Devils.

Musim ini, gerakan anti Glazer diwujudkan dengan cara mengenakan atribut berwarna hijau-emas, warna MU di abad 19. Itu adalah cara para pendukung untuk mengusir Glazer yang dianggap telah merusak MU.

Protes tersebut berlanjut sebelum laga melawan Stoke City, Minggu (9/5/2010) malam WIB. MU menang 4-0 dalam laga tersebut, namun gagal mempertahankan mahkota juara Liga Inggris. Bisa jadi, kegagalan ini membuat protes semakin kencang.

Protes yang berlangsung di depan MU Megastore--masih berada di wilayah Old Trafford--dikabarkan ESPN Star sempat berlangsung ricuh. Satu bom asap dilepaskan dan ada satu orang yang cedera.

Untuk menghentikannya, para anggota Red Knights--yang terdiri dari sekelompok jutawan pendukung MU--berniat untuk terus melancarkan penawaran mereka pekan ini. Sejauh ini usaha mereka untuk membeli 'Setan Merah' belum membuahkan hasil lantaran keluarga Glazer keukeuh untuk tak menjual MU.

Entah sampai kapan protes ini akan berlangsung. Yang jelas, warna hijau-emas di Old Trafford kini semakin ramai.

Red Knights won't be bullied into paying high price for Manchester United as unrest grows



The Red Knights group of investors have said they will not overpay for Manchester United as the voices of discontent from the fans grow ever more threatening.

Huge demonstrations took place at Old Trafford on Sunday as opposition to the Glazer ownership was ratcheted up another notch.

With smoke bombs being released outside the Megastore and a 10-minute protest outside the directors' entrance, fans opposed to United's controversial American owners appeared to be signalling an escalation in their battle to seize control.

The move appeared to be directly linked to the knowledge that the Red Knights group will be lodging a bid for the club, which is expected to be put before the Glazer family prior to the World Cup.

However, the constant stance from the Glazer camp has been that they are not interested in doing a deal.

It was reported last week the family have already turned down a £1.5billion offer from a Far East consortium, which in itself was interpreted as an attempt to drive up the price.

But the Red Knights group, led by wealthy investment banker Jim O'Neill have now signalled they will not overpay in order to ensure United do not find themselves in an even more difficult financial position that they are at present.

'The Red Knights are continuing to seek to assemble a consortium to acquire Manchester United,' said a statement released on behalf of the group this morning.

'Our primary goals remain to facilitate a return of ownership of the club to its supporters and the community; and to restore the financial health of the club.

'The response continues to be encouraging but the process to achieve it is understandably complex and is taking time.

'We have had productive conversations with potential investors in recent weeks which have reinforced our belief that it is wrong to offer above fair value, particularly given the urgent need for the club to reduce debt; and that fair value is likely to be reducing over time given the headwinds facing the game of football.

'Accordingly we will continue to build support in a measured way and will give a further update in due course.'

It has been suggested the Red Knights do not want to offer more than £1billion, although it is hard to see how such a bid would prove attractive.

Sources close to the Glazer camp continue to claim the vast debts incurred by the club are not impacting on Sir Alex Ferguson's ability to do business in the transfer market.

They also insist that a number of recent sponsorship deals indicate the business community have no problem dealing with the Glazer family.

However, the Manchester United Supporters Trust has warned that if the Glazers turn the Red Knights offer down, they will immediately call for a boycott of season tickets and club merchandise in order to wreck the family's financial blueprint.
