Manchester United outcast Sergio Romero is 'training alone as he hopes for January move' after £100,000-a-week fourth choice goalkeeper's Inter Miami switch fell through last month

* Sergio Romero is training alone as he looks to leave Manchester United
* The goalkeeper is hoping to secure a move away in the January transfer window
* Romero saw a move to Inter Miami break down because of his high wages

Sergio Romero is training alone at Manchester United as he hopes to secure a move away from the club in January.

Romero has fallen out of favour at United and wasn't included in the club's Premier League and Champions League squads.

As reported by The Sun, Romero has returned to training at United but is working away from the main group as he isn't in manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans.

Romero's £100,000-a-week wages could prove to be a barrier to a potential move away.

The 33-year-old had hoped to join Everton but that move failed to materialise, with his wife Eliana Guercio subsequently criticising United on social media.

A move to Inter Miami was also seen as a possibility for Romero but that deal didn't happen because of his high wages.

Romero, who has been at United since 2015, sees his contract expire at the end of June next year.

Having previously been United's second-choice goalkeeper, he is now behind David de Gea, Dean Henderson and Lee Grant.

Man United's wantaway keeper Sergio Romero 'says his goodbyes ahead of possible Boca Juniors move' along with team-mate Marcos Rojo - and their exits will save club £150,000-a-week as Solskjaer continues to use January window to shift dead weight

* Sergio Romero has fallen down the pecking order at Man United and set to leave
* He has already bid farewell to staff with a move to Boca Juniors on the horizon
* Romero, who's deal expires this summer, joins Marcos Rojo through exit doors
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to offload fringe players during the January window

Sergio Romero has reportedly bid farewell to staff at Manchester United as he edges closer to securing a move to Boca Juniors.

The Argentinian, who is out of contract this summer, has fallen down the pecking order at United and is expected to leave the club in this month's transfer window.

Romero, 33, has not trained with United since the turn of the year while local reports in Buenos Aires have claimed he is training in the Argentinian capital ahead of a likely move to Boca Juniors.

United have given Romero permission to train in Argentina but he will be expected back at Carrington if he is unable to arrange a permanent transfer away.

The Manchester Evenings News claim the goalkeeper, who had been omitted from United's Premier League and Champions League squads, has already said his goodbyes to members of staff at Carrington as he prepares to end his six-year association with the club.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to streamline his squad this month and Romero is set to be joined out the exit doors by compatriot Marcos Rojo - which would save the club a combined £150,000-a-week from their departures.

Rojo is reported to have already agreed a two-year deal with Boca but the Argentinian side are unwilling to pay a transfer fee, meaning he'll have to come to an agreement with United to tear up his contract.

His fellow international team-mate Romero is in a similar situation as it is not clear if Boca will be paying a fee to sign the keeper, who has been calling to have his contract terminated since October after being denied a move on deadline day back in the summer.

Romero has not played for the club since United's Europa League quarter-final win over Copenhagen on August 10 with Dean Henderson replacing him as second choice behind David de Gea in goal.

Solskjaer is hoping to offload several more fringe players in January, including Brandon Williams, Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard in a bid to bring the club's wage bill down.

'You deserve to be treated well in your new challenge': David de Gea sends message to Sergio Romero as his Man United exit is confirmed months after players were 'disappointed' over club's treatment of the keeper for pricing him out a move last summer

* David de Gea says Sergio Romero deserves to be treated well at his next club
* It has been confirmed Romero will leave Manchester United at the end of June
* United players were frustrated after Romero wasn't allowed to leave last year

David de Gea says fellow goalkeeper Sergio Romero deserves 'to be treated well' at his next club following his departure from Manchester United.

It was announced on Friday that Romero, who joined United in 2015, will be released when his contract expires at the end of this month.

Romero made 61 appearances for United but didn't play at all during his final season at the club.

De Gea wrote on Instagram: 'Good luck, Chiqui! I wish you success, my friend. You deserve to be treated well in your new challenge. Enjoy.'

Romero was left frustrated after United refused to let him secure a move away last year.

United refused to sell the shot-stopper for less than £10million, which meant that a move to Everton failed to materialise.

David de Gea (right) says Sergio Romero (left) deserves to be treated well at his new club. De Gea, whose own United future is uncertain, wishes Romero good luck in his new challenge. United players were frustrated after Romero was denied the opportunity to leave last year

It was reported by ESPN in October last year that a number of United players had expressed their frustration with the way in which Romero had been treated.

Romero was part of the United side that won the Europa League in 2017, but he made just seven Premier League appearances during his time at the club.

There remains uncertainty regarding de Gea's future at Old Trafford, with Dean Henderson looking to fully establish himself as United's first-choice goalkeeper.

The 34-year-old has been a free agent since leaving United in the summer and has held talks with a number of clubs in England and across Europe but has opted to sign for Venezia who are 17th in Serie A, just above the relegation places.

Romero twice saw moves to Everton fall through over the past year and held talks with the likes of La Liga sides Valencia and Granada plus the likes of Roma and Spezia but financial constraints played a part in those clubs looking to recruit from elsewhere.

The Argentina international had proved an able deputy for David de Gea at United but had grown frustrated with his lack of first team opportunities while the emergence of Dean Henderson also played a part in his departure.

Romero's wife had even expressed her frustration on social media when United blocked a move to Everton last year after changing their demands on a proposed loan.

Everton had offered to cover his £100,000 a week wages and pay a £2m loan fee but United then demanded a permanent £8m fee when he had one year left on contract.

Now he is ready to sign a deal until the end of the season with Venezia with the option of a further year if all goes well.

Sergio Romero opens up on his 'strange' final year at Man United - revealing he was sometimes forced to train ALONE after slipping behind David de Gea and Dean Henderson in the pecking order

* Goalkeeper Sergio Romero was released by Manchester United this summer
* The Argentine finally found a new club this week after his Old Trafford exit
* He revealed in the year before his departure he sometimes trained alone
* The 34-year-old has signed for Italian outfit Venezia, 17th in Serie A
* He joins Venezia on a free transfer and has signed until the end of the season

Sergio Romero has opened up on the struggles of training alone after it was made clear to him he had no future at Manchester United.

The goalkeeper joined United in 2015 but was released on a free this summer after six years at the club.

The Argentinian played second fiddle to David de Gea throughout his Old Trafford career, making just 62 appearances for the Red Devils.

The 34-year-old failed to make a single appearance last season as both De Gea and the emergence of Dean Henderson shoved him down the pecking order.

Romero has now admitted it was a difficult end to his time at United, particularly after he trained alone.

'It was a strange year for me, but I trained all year at Manchester United. Some days I was training by myself, because the squad was preparing for a game,' he said, via The Sun.

Sergio Romero has opened up on the struggles of his Manchester United exit this summer. David De Gea and Dean Henderson were ahead of Romero in the pecking order. The glovesman trained alone at Man United before the Red Devils released him this summer

'I feel good, I worked in Argentina too and want to prove I'm the same Sergio who was at Sampdoria and then Manchester.'

United eventually released Romero this summer and the shotstopper searched for a new team before finally finding one in Serie A strugglers Venezia earlier this week.

The Argentine has put pen to paper on a deal until the end of the season with the option of a further year if all goes well.

Venezia were promoted to the top-flight to much fanfare this summer but currently sit 17th.

But that hasn't deterred Romero who insists that he is looking forward to the 'family feel' the smaller club brings.

'I really like the (Venezia) team, there are a lot of young players and I feel young too,' he said.

'There's a solid club behind us, I think this squad has everything required to stay in Serie A.

'I felt a family atmosphere at Sampdoria and it's a similar sensation here at Venezia. Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, but I feel Venezia can do well.'

Venezia announced the move on Tuesday morning, with a club statement that read: 'Venezia FC is pleased to announce the signing of Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero, 34, on a free transfer.

Default Re: Sergio Romero

Sergio Romero 'is interested in a shock return to Manchester United' less than 12 months after being ditched from Old Trafford... with Erik ten Hag needing an able deputy for David de Gea as Dean Henderson prepares to exit

* Ex-Manchester United back-up goalkeeper Sergio Romero is 'open to a return'
* He left the club last year after losing his second-choice spot to Dean Henderson
* The Argentinian revealed that he was often forced to train alone at the club
* But a source close to Romero said that he 'would always come back' if he could
* The goalkeeper is a free agent once again after suffering relegation with Venezia

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero is interested in a return to Old Trafford less than one year after leaving the club, according to reports.

The Red Devils, who are keen to recruit a new back-up goalkeeper ahead of Dean Henderson's imminent loan move to Nottingham Forest this summer, let Romero exit on a free transfer last year and join Italian club side Venezia.

The Argentinian shot-stopper is a free agent once again following Venezia's relegation from Serie A, and it is believed he would be open to a Manchester United return.

A source close to the goalkeeper has admitted that Romero 'would always come back' to Old Trafford if an opportunity presented itself, according to Manchester Evening News.

The 35-year-old failed to make a single appearance during his final campaign with the Red Devils, having fallen down the pecking order to Henderson.

He even revealed last October that he was often forced to train alone at the club, having fallen out of favour with former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Sergio Romero is reportedly open to a return to Old Trafford less than one year after his exit. He claimed that he was forced to train alone whilst at Man United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Romero won an FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League (pictured) during his time at the club

But it is believed, despite his frosty exit, that Romero still holds a lot of love towards Man United and would happily return to act as second fiddle to David de Gea.

The goalkeeper played 61 times in six seasons at the club and featured predominantly in United's midweek fixtures, either in the Champions League or more frequently the Europa League.

His final appearance for the Red Devils came during the Europa League quarter-finals against FC Copenhagen in August 2020.

Setuju jika Romero kembali bergabung dengan United.
Selama membela United penampilannya juga tidak mengecewakan, hanya saja kurang mendapat kepercayaan untuk tampil sebagai starter di tim utama
