Salako: Zaha has everything.

Former Crystal Palace midfielder John Salako believes Manchester United's latest signing, Wilfried Zaha, could be the man to emulate Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sir Alex Ferguson wrapped up a £15m deal to bring Zaha to Old Trafford from Crystal Palace, but the England international will return to Palace on loan until the end of the season.

And Salako admits that Zaha could be the man to fill the void left by Ronaldo, stating his belief that Ferguson has so far failed to replace the Real Madrid forward.

"Manchester United never really replaced Cristiano Ronaldo and I really do think Wilfried Zaha's got that kind of ability," he told Goal.com.

"If he can match half of Ronaldo's dedication, drive, focus and desire to be the best player in the world, he'll have a chance.

"Certainly working under Sir Alex (Ferguson) in that environment at Man United, he couldn't go anywhere better. I just think he's going to be an absolute star there.

"The lad's got everything. He's strong, quick and got so much ability, but he needs to learn the game - at the moment he's still quite raw."

Zaha has impressed enough this season that he earned an England call-up with an appearance against Sweden in November, and Salako feels that Zaha needs to concentrate on putting all his effort into matches.

"He's not a kid, he's 20, he's played nearly 100 games so he's going to have to really mature now and take this on board because I think he's going to have to work hard," he said.

"It's going to be about his mentality and desire and really what he wants for himself because he's going to have every opportunity going into a club like Man United.

"The lads do get carried away. They think it's all about being at a big club and wearing the tracksuit and you've made it, but you haven't.

"A lot of these kids should perhaps stay at smaller clubs and build their careers, but I'm glad that Wilfried's dreams are finally coming true and Palace get a decent fee."

goal.com - Mantan pemain Crystal Palace Mark Bright menilai Wilfried Zaha akan sebagus Cristiano Ronaldo di Manchester United.

Seperti yang diketahui, Zaha sudah resmi menjadi miliki United pada Januari kemarin, namun ia langsung dipinjamkan ke Palace hingga akhir musim ini.

"Manchester United telah membeli potensi. Dia sangat mengagumkan dalam beberapa tahun terakhir dan dia semakin berkembang," ujar Bright kepada talkSPORT.

Today, Wilfried Zaha featured in Crystal Palace’s home match against Leeds United and gave the visiting fans something to kick up a fuss about.

During the first half Leeds fans were chanting and hurling abuse at Manchester United’s new signing in which Zaha simply game them the finger with a huge smile on his face.

This latest event has gone very well with all Manchester United fans….

Palace investigate claims Zaha was racially abused by Leeds fans before finger gesture

Crystal Palace are investigating claims that Wilfried Zaha was racially abused by Leeds fans.

The FA fined the England forward £3,000 and banned him for one game for making an obscene gesture towards away fans during the 2-2 draw at Selhurst Park on March 9.

But after talking to Zaha, club officials believe racial slurs may have provoked the 20-year-old. Palace have made numerous in-house enquiries to establish the level of abuse Zaha was subjected to.

Several of Zaha’s team-mates are understood to have heard racial slurs aimed at the forward, while Palace manager Ian Holloway is also aware of the accusations.

Palace defender Damien Delaney, who played in the ill-tempered match against Leeds, has claimed the talented youngster was racially abused.

When accused of hypocrisy for criticising the actions of Brighton fans during Palace’s 3-0 defeat on Sunday, given Zaha’s own obscene gesture, Delaney tweeted: ‘. . . he received some horrific abuse and some racial abuse for the whole first half.’

Zaha accepted the FA charge of improper conduct last week, but requested a personal hearing, which took place on Tuesday. Zaha hoped to avoid a suspension by explaining it was his first offence and that he apologised for the incident on Twitter.

The claim that he was racially abused may also have been used in mitigation on Tuesday.

Nevertheless, the FA disciplinary panel still saw fit to suspend Zaha.

He will miss the match against Birmingham City on Good Friday. He has also been warned by Manchester United, who signed him in January but loaned him back to Palace until the end of the season, that such reactions would not be tolerated at Old Trafford.

Zaha went on Twitter after pictures of the incident emerged, tweeting: ‘It was very unprofessional of me.’ Palace and Leeds both declined to comment.
