[2015/16] FA Cup
FA CUP FIRST ROUND DRAW: Salford City handed home tie with League Two Notts County and FC United of Manchester face League One Chesterfield
* Evo-Stik League Northern Premier side Salford City face Notts County * FC United of Manchester handed home tie against League One Chesterfield * Didcot Town, lowest ranked team left in competition, take on Exeter City Salford City will be dreaming of a giant-killing against Notts County when they make their bow in the first round of the FA Cup. The Evo-Stik League Northern Premier side are owned by Manchester United's 'Class of 92' - Gary and Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, who were all Wembley winners in their playing careers. And the 'famous five' will be preparing for another big cup day when Sky Bet League Two club Notts County visit Moor Lane on the weekend of November 6-9 for a tie which should attract the television cameras. Salford owner and former Manchester United defender Gary Neville tweeted his delight at home draw 'I'm delighted for everybody at the club for all the work that's been put in,' Salford's former United striker Danny Webber said after the draw on BBC Two. 'It was important we got a league club and it will be great for the lads to pit their wits against a league club to see where we stand. 'It's exciting for everybody at Salford.' Salford's neighbours FC United of Manchester also have an attractive tie, at home to 1997 semi-finalists Chesterfield, while Altrincham could enhance their giant-killing reputation against Barnsley of League One. Salford striker Danny Webber played for Watford and Sheffield United after leaving Manchester United Wigan, FA Cup winners in 2013, make the short trip to Bury while 2008 winners Portsmouth are at home to Macclesfield. Didcot, 15th in Division One South & West of the Evo-Stik Southern League and the lowest-ranked side left in the competition, will welcome Exeter, who were beaten by non-league Warrington at the same stage of the competition last season. AFC Fylde, of the Vanarama National League North, head to Millwall, Brackley Town host Newport and Aldershot welcome League One Bradford, who shocked Chelsea last season with a 4-2 fourth-round victory at Stamford Bridge. 'It's a tough draw but we'll be ready for it and give them the utmost respect,' said Bantams boss Phil Parkinson. Coventry, winners of the competition in 1987, will entertain their former landlords Northampton, while 1953 cup winners Blackpool visit Barnet and AFC Wimbledon will be at home to National League leaders Forest Green Rovers. Re: [2015/16] FA Cup
FA Cup second round draw: Salford City handed home tie against Hartlepool United
* Hartlepool United will travel to face Salford City in the FA Cup third round * Northwich Victoria, lowest ranked side yet, could face Northampton Town * Chesham United travel to Aldershot Town or Cup giant-killers Bradford * Second-round ties will be played across the weekend of December 4-7 Salford City will host League Two Hartlepool United in the FA Cup second round after the Class of 92-owned side were paired with Football League opposition again having beaten Notts County. The Northern Premier League Premier Division side - part-owned by former Manchester United stars Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt - are one win away from a potential glamour tie with their owners' former club. The lowest-ranked side left in the competition are eighth-tier Northwich Victoria, who will travel to Northampton if they emerge triumphant from their replay against Boreham Wood. Salford City celebrate taking their place in the second round after their victory over Notts County on Friday There are a total of 20 ties to be played in the second round which includes teams from as high as League One before the Championship and Premier League teams enter at the turn of the year. Stourbridge, of the seventh tier, have been drawn at home against National League side Eastleigh. Chesham, who compete at the same level as Stourbridge, have been rewarded for the upset they sprung in winning 1-0 at Bristol Rovers with a trip to either Aldershot or Bradford. Whitehawk, in the second round for the first time, will face Dagenham or Morecambe away. Their fellow sixth-tier sides Brackley and Maidenhead have also been given away ties pending replays. The former will play Barnet if they beat Newport, the latter Exeter if they beat Port Vale. Second-round ties will be played across the weekend of December 4-7, 2015. The seven remaining first-round replays are set for November 16-17. Quote:

Re: [2015/16] FA Cup
Hartlepool 2-0 Salford City (AET): Class of 92 have Cup dream dashed as League Two side book Derby tie
* Hartlepool needed two goals in extra-time to edge past non-League Salford * Scott Fenwick and Mikael Mandron were on target for the League Two outfit * Ronnie Moore's side face Derby County at home in the FA Cup third round How Salford City could have done with co-owner Paul Scholes on the end of the spurned chances that cost them a deserved place in the FA Cup third round. The live television cameras were here for an upset and, in the end, they got one – Hartlepool won. Seventh-tier Salford bossed their League Two hosts and should have set up a home tie with Derby County inside 90 minutes. Instead, Ronnie Moore’s side somehow resisted to force extra-time and progressed thanks to Scott Fenwick’s close-range header and an injury-time volley from Sunderland loanee Mikael Mandron. Fenwick was playing two divisions below Salford last year but the former civil engineer was the only positive for a Pools side who Moore admitted were ‘embarrassing’. Salford joint-manager Anthony Johnson, however, was far from ashamed of his team. ‘The players could not have put any more in - I’m absolutely devastated,’ he said. ‘We’re proud of what the boys have done. Over 180 minutes we were the better side. ‘We put in an unbelievable performance, as good as we’ve had here as managers.’ Fellow boss Bernard Morley added: ‘We’re gutted but at least we have learned that we can more than compete with a team three divisions above us. ‘It hurts so much for how well we played over the two games.’ Salford co-owner Gary Neville simply tweeted: ‘Amazing effort!!!’. Moore did not disagree with their assessment. ‘That was no good for my health. We were an embarrassment at times in the first half,’ he said. Salford City players applaud the travelling fans after their agonising extra-time defeat by Hartlepool ‘Salford did themselves proud, they will be gutted they didn’t win. We should be doing better than that, especially with it being on TV.’ Salford striker James Poole spent four years at Hartlepool but now works as a part-time scout for Manchester City, and it wasn’t difficult to identify him as their chief threat. The 25-year-old should have opened the scoring when goalkeeper Trevor Carson fumbled a low delivery. Poole, though, lifted over from just eight yards. He cleared the same crossbar moments later but it would have been unfair to pin any blame on the former City youth-team striker this time, his acrobatic volley from 20 yards having had Carson scrambling and worried. One observer remarked after 30 minutes that there was ‘nothing between the sides’. He was wrong. Salford were far superior – hungrier, quicker and stronger in every department. But there was no shortage of skill either and one intricate offensive – again with Poole at its centre – presented Lewis Hardcastle with a shooting chance on the fringe of the area, the Blackburn loanee slamming inches wide with Carson beaten. The Mill House terrace at Victoria Park can be an unforgiving lot – their mood was hardly aided by heavy rainfall – and the sight of striker Rakish Bingham firing one pass straight towards them rather than a team-mate triggered venomous jeers. Hartlepool needed the heroics of Carson to preserve parity and he pulled off an instinctive double save to deny Hardcastle and then Poole late on. That took the tie to an additional 30 minutes where Fenwick and Mandron stole victory. Salford had indeed been robbed. Quote:

Re: [2015/16] FA Cup
Potential plum ties await for Eastleigh and Wycombe
If non-League Eastleigh get past Bolton Wanderers in their Emirates FA Cup third round replay, their reward will be a fourth round visit from Leeds United. Eastleigh are the only non-League side left in the competition and they earned a 1-1 draw with Championship side Bolton on Saturday. And if they can complete the job on Tuesday 19 January they will host the 1972 Cup winners at Silverlake Stadium. Wycombe also earned a 1-1 draw on Saturday, against Aston Villa, and they will entertain Manchester City if they get past Remi Garde’s side in next week’s replay. Holders Arsenal have been drawn at home to Burnley while Northampton Town or MK Dons will host Chelsea. There is only one confirmed all-Premier League tie as Crystal Palace were paired with Stoke City. The draw was conducted by The One Show host Matt Baker and two-time FA Cup winner Ian Wright. The fourth round ties will take place over the weekend of Friday 29 January and the winning clubs will receive £90,000 from The FA prize fund. It was today confirmed that the third round tie between Newport County and Blackburn Rovers, due to be played on Saturday 9 January but postponed because of a waterlogged pitch, has now been re-arranged for Monday 18 January 2016, kick-off 7.15pm. The game will be broadcast live on S4C. Fourth Round draw West Bromwich Albion or Bristol City v Peterborough United Eastleigh or Bolton Wanderers v Leeds United Arsenal v Burnley Derby County v Manchester United Huddersfield Town or Reading v Walsall Exeter City or Liverpool v West Ham United Wycombe Wanderers or Aston Villa v Manchester City Shrewsbury Town v Sheffield Wednesday Nottingham Forest v Watford Carlisle United or Yeovil Town v Everton Crystal Palace v Stoke City Oxford United v Newport County or Blackburn Rovers Ipswich Town or Portsmouth v Bournemouth Colchester United v Tottenham Hotspur or Leicester City Bury or Bradford City v Hull City Northampton Town or MK Dons v Chelsea Read more at Code:
