Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League table with a convincing win over Manchester United.

City looked to be on easy street after David Silva's first half strike before Sergio Aguero doubled their lead soon after the break.

Anthony Martial hit back from the penalty spot after Ederson brought down substitute Romelu Lukaku.

DAVID DE GEA 5.5 – No chance with the first and third goals, but too easily beaten for the second for a keeper of his quality

ASHLEY YOUNG 6.5 – Coped well down with City’s threat and made a fantastic interception to deny Sane towards the end

CHRIS SMALLING 6 – Made some key clearances with his head and produced the tackle of the match on Fernandinho.


De Gea could have done better with Aguero's strike from a tight angle in the second half

VICTOR LINDELOF 5.5 – Allowed his opponent to get the wrong side of him for second game in a row when Aguero scored.

LUKE SHAW 6.5 – Lost Bernardo Silva in the build-up to the first goal, but got forward well to support the attack after that.

ANDER HERRERA 5 – His job is to break up the opponents’ play but got caught in possession on several occasions.

MAROUANE FELLAINI 5.5 – Replaced Pogba in midfield and always effective, but lacks the Frenchman’s creativity.


Fellaini was drafted in as a replacement for Pogba but didn't have the same sort of impact

NEMANJA MATIC 6 – Needed to be more inventive alongside Fellaini and Herrera but it’s not really his game

JESSE LINGARD 5 – United’s best moves came down the other flank as he struggled to get in the game. First player to be subbed.

MARCUS RASHFORD 5 – Once again struggled to justify his role leading the line. Isolated with little service.


Marcus Rashford struggled to make an impact in a game that passed his team-mates by

ANTHONY MARTIAL 6.5 – Not as effective as he’s been in recent games, but produced clinical finish from the penalty spot.
