Paul Pogba returns to France squad for UEFA Nations League fixtures against Portugal and Croatia while Arsenal target Houssem Aouar is also called up after both players tested positive for Covid-19 in September

* Paul Pogba has returned to the France squad after testing positive for Covid-19
* The midfielder was unavailable for the UEFA Nations League games last month
* Pogba has been back in action for Manchester United after recovering

Paul Pogba has been included in the France squad after missing last month's UEFA Nations League fixtures following a positive coronavirus test.

The Manchester United midfielder was unavailable for the matches against Croatia and Sweden in September but has been back in Premier League action after recovering from the virus.

France take on Ukraine in a friendly on Wednesday before further Nations League matches against Sweden and Croatia.

Pogba has had a mixed start to the season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side but was on target in the Carabao Cup victory over Brighton on Wednesday.

Arsenal target Houssem Aouar is also in the squad and is in line to receive his first senior camp for Les Bleus.

Aouar was called up to the last squad after Pogba's withdrawal but he too was forced to miss out after later testing positive for Covid-19.

The Lyon midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates but the two clubs have been unable to agree a fee.

However, the French side completed the signing of Lucas Paqueta from AC Milan which could pave the way for Aouar to join the Gunners before the window shuts.

Also returning to the France squad is Bayern Munich trio Benjamin Pavard, Kingsley Coman and Corentin Tolisso who were rested for the September fixtures following their involvement in the Champions League final.

Kylian Mbappe is also included after the forward withdrew from the squad following a positive coronavirus test after the 1-0 victory over Sweden in September.

Manchester United BLOCK Victor Lindelof from joining up with Sweden for their trip to Denmark due to strict Covid quarantine rules following the outbreak of a strain spread from minks

* Victor Lindelof is not being allowed to travel to Denmark with the Sweden squad
* UK has brought in strict quarantine rules for those travelling in from Denmark
* This comes after mutation of the virus spread from minks was found last week
* Lindelof, and four other UK-based Sweden players, will join team in Stockholm

Manchester United have blocked Victor Lindelof from travelling to Denmark with the Swedish national team amid strict quarantine rules imposed following a mutation of coronavirus being spread by minks.

The international break has begun following the weekend's Premier League fixtures, with top stars heading around the world to join up with their countries, but United have put a stop to Sweden defender Lindelof heading to Denmark.

The news, confirmed by the Swedish FA, comes after the UK imposed strict travel restrictions on Denmark amid a worrying outbreak of the virus in the north of the country.

Victor Lindelof is not being allowed to travel to Denmark with the Sweden national team. Lindelof will instead have to stay in England, and then meet up with his team in Stockholm

Denmark this week imposed strict measures after warning that a mutation of the virus - which is less sensitive to an attack from Covid-19 antibodies - had jumped from minks to humans and infected 12 people.

Coronavirus has spread from minks to humans in hundreds of cases - but this mutant strain is restricted to just 12 infections. Scientists fear this small number could the beginning of 'a new pandemic starting again, this time from Denmark'.

Lindelof - and four other Sweden internationals based in England and Scotland - will instead have to stay in England for the coming days, before travelling to Stockholm to meet up with their team-mates after the Denmark game.

In a statement, the Swedish FA said: 'Sweden's five national team players from England and Scotland will not be available in the international training match against Denmark due to quarantine rules. Instead, the players will join the national team gathering in Stockholm after the match against Denmark.

The news comes as the UK imposes strict quarantine rules on Denmark after a Covid outbreak

'The five players affected are Robin Olsen, Emil Krafth, Filip Helander, Victor Lindelof and Ken Sema. Due to the United Kingdom's quarantine rules against Denmark, the quintet will not be released by their clubs to take part in the international match against Denmark.

'If the players need to be quarantined for more than five days after the national team gathering, there is no requirement for the clubs to release the players. In this case, our players will not be released for the match against Denmark.

'However, the clubs release the players for the other two matches, against Croatia and France, says national team manager Stefan Pettersson. Substitutes will be called in for the international match against Denmark.'

A quarantine exemption has been allowed for elite sportspeople, but that will not be in place for those travelling to Denmark.

Therefore, despite Sweden also being taken off the UK's travel corridor exemption list, Lindelof and his team-mates will not need to quarantine on their return to the UK.

Worryingly, though, Sweden - as well as Spain, the USA, Italy and Holland - have also reported Covid cases in minks, according to the World Health Organisation.

Denmark has already ordered a cull of its 17million mink.

This has led to immediate concerns for Liverpool's game away at Danish side FC Midtjylland in the Champions League, too.

It is understood that Jurgen Klopp's side would be offered no exemption from quarantine rules should they have to travel for their game in Denmark.

According to the Liverpool Echo, this could have ramifications for Jurgen Klopp's side, with the Reds' trip to Herning now being rethought.

The outbreak in Denmark has already caused question marks over the upcoming friendly between England and Iceland.

With Iceland due to face Denmark just three days before heading to Wembley for their November 18 Nations League clash, the FA are set to hold urgent talks with the FA to find out whether the match can go ahead.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ready to stop Bruno Fernandes playing for Portugal this month after Manchester United boss follows Jurgen Klopp's lead by voicing his concern at players travelling to countries on the 'red list' for international duty

* People returning from countries on the 'red list' have to quarantine for 10 days
* FIFA have relaxed their rules on players being released due to Covid restrictions
* Solskjaer is ready to stop Fernandes going on international duty this month
* The Portuguese midfielder could therefore miss three World Cup qualifiers

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted he is ready to block Bruno Fernandes from going on international duty with Portugal next month.

Portugal is one of the countries on the 'red list,' requiring anyone returning from one of them to the UK to quarantine in a government approved hotel for 10 days.

With there being no exemption for elite athletes, FIFA have relaxed their rules on players being released and allowed clubs to stop them travelling.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to block Bruno Fernandes from going on international duty. The Portugal midfielder could miss three World Cup qualifiers later this month if he is stopped. Manchester United boss has voiced his concern at players travelling to countries on 'red list'

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp declared on Wednesday that he intends to take up that option with any of his players at risk of having to isolate on their return including Bruno's Portugal team-mate Diogo Jota.

Solskjaer said: 'We've not sat down and made a proper call on that one but it doesn't make sense if you lose your player for 10 days isolation.

'We're the ones paying the players and from what I understand that's the rule, FIFA have given the rules that they don't have to be released so I would think that's going to be a hard call to make to let them go and play in red list countries.

'I want Bruno ready against Brighton and hopefully that we're through in Europe and against Tottenham after that break.'

Mason Greenwood gets first England recall since he was sent home for sneaking a beauty queen into team hotel in Iceland, as Manchester United forward is called up for Under 21s with PSV youngster Noni Madueke

* Aidy Boothroyd has named his squad for the group stages of the Under-21 Euros
* Full internationals Mason Greenwood and Callum Hudson-Odoi are included

Mason Greenwood is back in the England fold after receiving a call up for this month's Under-21 European Championship.

The Manchester United forward and Phil Foden were both sent home from senior duty in September for an indiscretion at the team's hotel in Iceland.

Foden was recalled for the November internationals, while Greenwood remained at United. But the 19-year-old will be with Aidy Boothroyd's Young Lions for their Euro group stage campaign in Slovenia this month.

England, knocked out at the first hurdle two years ago, face Switzerland, Portugal and Croatia in Group D.

'We treat every player as an individual and we think very carefully when and where we pick them. Clearly in Mason's situation, it was right that he wasn't right to play for his country and to stay where he was,' said Boothroyd.

'That period of time has done him the world of good. That's a positive thing.

'We felt as an organisation that Mason is going to be a key player in the future and we wanted to get him into this tournament, get some games into him and know what it's like to be at a tournament.

'He is an outstanding player. He's got some great experiences already with his club, playing in the Champions League and the Europa League. He's getting plenty of opportunities but we felt it was the right thing for him to come with us.'

Greenwood is joined by PSV Eindhoven winger Noni Madueke, who has scored seven goals in 18 Eredivisie matches this season.

Madueke – also eligible to play for Nigeria - left Tottenham Hotspur for PSV three years ago and has flourished in the first team this term.

Mason Greenwood has returned to the England fold for the first time since the Iceland episode. Greenwood and Phil Foden were disciplined for bringing girls into England's Covid bubble

The 19-year-old is the surprise inclusion of a squad that welcomes Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe for the first time. Smith Rowe's performances for Mikel Arteta's side over recent months have pushed him higher up the pecking order.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, Eddie Nketiah, Curtis Jones and Dwight McNeil make for a talented crop of attacking players, with in-form Tom Davies set to sit in midfield. Tottenham's Japhet Tanganga is looking for an Under 21 debut, with right back Tariq Lamptey missing out through injury.

'I am excited by this group - not just in their ability but also their togetherness and team spirit - and know they will do everything they can to make the country proud,' Boothroyd said.

'I am grateful to Gareth for his support with what we are trying to achieve, and also to the clubs for recognising the importance of these finals.

'We want to win every time we play and will do all we can to reach the knockout stage – but this is also a crucial opportunity for providing valuable experience on and off the pitch that will help the players, their clubs and England in future.'

Boothroyd's side are looking to become the first England team to lift the trophy in 37 years. They have only progressed from the group stage three times in the last eight tournaments.

'History tells us that this competition is about as competitive as it gets and we know we will have to be at our best,' Boothroyd added. 'Because we are in the middle of the domestic season, everyone will have to hit the ground running as soon as they come together but we are ready for the challenge. We can't wait to get started.'

Mason Greenwood ruled OUT of England squad for Under-21 European Championship group stage with injury as Norwich's Todd Cantwell is called up to replace him for trip to Slovenia

* Mason Greenwood was back in the England fold for the first time since he was sent home for sneaking a beauty queen into the team hotel in Iceland
* Manchester United star has now pulled out of the Under 21s through injury
* Todd Cantwell will replace him for the group stages of the U21 Euros in Slovenia
* Greenwood will instead head back to United to continue his recovery from injury

Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood will not travel with England's Under 21s to the European Championship this afternoon after pulling out of the squad with injury.

Greenwood was initially included in Aidy Boothroyd's squad for the upcoming group stages of the tournament in Slovenia, but has now been ruled out with injury and will instead head back to Manchester to continue his recovery.

Greenwood was back in the Under-21 squad for the first time since he was sent home from the senior squad for sneaking a beauty queen into the team hotel in Iceland.

He and Phil Foden were the players involved in that incident, and while the Man City midfielder was included in the November internationals, Greenwood was once again left out.

Norwich City striker Todd Cantwell has been called up in Greenwood's place for the U21 Euros group stages, and has joined up with the rest of the squad for the journey to the tournament.

Due to Covid-19, the competition is taking place in two parts, with the group stages from March 24 to 31, and the knockout stage from May 31 to June 6.

England, knocked out at the first hurdle two years ago, face Switzerland, Portugal and Croatia in Group D.

Mason Greenwood was back in the England fold for the first time since the Iceland episode. Greenwood's wait to pull on an England jersey again goes on after he was ruled out with injury. Norwich City star Todd Cantwell has instead been called up to play for Aidy Boothroyd's side

Speaking about Greenwood's initial call-up last week, manager Boothroyd said: 'We treat every player as an individual and we think very carefully when and where we pick them. Clearly in Mason's situation, it was right that he wasn't right to play for his country and to stay where he was.

'That period of time has done him the world of good. That's a positive thing.

'He is an outstanding player. He's got some great experiences already with his club, playing in the Champions League and the Europa League. He's getting plenty of opportunities but we felt it was the right thing for him to come with us.'

That, of course, is now no longer the case as his wait to pull on the England shirt once again goes on.

Elsewhere in the squad, PSV Eindhoven winger Noni Madueke, who has scored seven goals in 18 Eredivisie matches this season, has earned a first call-up.

Madueke – also eligible to play for Nigeria - left Tottenham Hotspur for PSV three years ago and has flourished in the first team this term.
