Manchester United defender Phil Jones is left out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Europa League squad to travel to Germany as he stays home to recover from knee injury

* Phil Jones won't be involved in the Europa League's conclusion due to injury
* Jones will stay in England as he continues his recovery from a knee problem
* United are planning to offer goalkeeper Dean Henderson another new contract

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has been left out of this week’s Europa League tournament squad to work on a knee injury.

Jones was named in United’s 30-man squad for the Europa finals, but will now stay at home to continue an individual fitness programme. The 28-year-old England international hasn’t played since January.

‘Jonah has had a difficult season with niggles. He has had troubles with his knees,’ said United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Phil Jones has been left out of Manchester United's travelling squad for the Europa League. Solskjaer confirmed Jones, who is recovering from a knee problem, won't travel to Cologne

The rest of the United players fly to Cologne on Sunday for the completion of this season’s Europa League. They face FC Copenhagen in the quarter-finals on Monday.

Meanwhile, United plan to offer keeper Dean Henderson a new contract for the second time in just over a year.

Henderson, 23, has excelled on loan at Sheffield United but is understood to be frustrated about his prospects as second choice to David de Gea.

Eric Bailly sidelined for three to four weeks with muscle injury in blow to Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of tough run of games against Chelsea, RB Leipzig and Arsenal

* Defender Eric Bailly will be ruled out until the international break in November
* Bailly is set to miss a tough run of games in the Premier League and Europe
* He didn't make the trip to France for Tuesday night's victory over PSG
* Solskjaer fielded Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw and Axel Tuanzebe in Paris

Eric Bailly will be sidelined for the next three to four weeks with a muscle injury in a blow to Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Ivorian centre-back didn't make the trip to France for United's 2-1 Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night, having been an unused substitute in Saturday's 4-1 win at Newcastle United.

Speaking after the win over PSG, Solskjaer confirmed he doesn't expect Bailly to feature again before next month's international break.

It means Bailly will miss upcoming fixtures against Chelsea, RB Leipzig, Arsenal, Istanbul Basaksehir and Everton in a packed schedule of Premier League and Champions League games.

It is just the latest injury setback for the 26-year-old, who has been sidelined for more than 300 days with knee and ankle problems since signing for United from Villarreal in 2016.

Captain and fellow central defender Harry Maguire also didn't make the trip to Paris but is expected to return for the Chelsea game at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

Solskjaer went with three central defenders at the Parc des Princes with Victor Lindelof and Axel Tuanzebe paired with Luke Shaw.

Eric Bailly will be sidelined for three to four weeks with a muscle injury in a blow to Man United. The Ivorian defender has made four appearances, including three starts, for United this season. The news comes as a blow to United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of testing fixtures. Bailly's one Premier League start this season came in the 6-1 thrashing by Tottenham Hotspur

United produced a fine performance to win their Champions League opener 2-1 with goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.

Bailly has played four times for United so far this season. He made a substitute appearance in the final stages of the opening-weekend defeat by Crystal Palace before starting the two Carabao Cup games against Luton Town and Brighton in September.

With Lindelof struggling, Bailly replaced him to partner Maguire for the 6-1 defeat by Tottenham on October 4.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms TRIPLE injury blow in Manchester United's win at Everton as Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof limp off the Goodison Park pitch on Saturday

* Manchester United beat Everton 3-1 on Saturday after three games without a win
* Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani scored for the Red Devils
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Rashford, Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof have injuries
* There is also concern for goalkeeper David De Gea who has a groin problem

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed Manchester United suffered three injury setbacks involving Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof during their 3-1 win at Everton.

The Red Devils came from behind at Goodison Park on Saturday lunchtime thanks to first-half goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford after Bernard had put the Toffees in front early on.

Edinson Cavani netted his first goal for the club in the 95th minute to seal the points but Solskjaer has revealed there is bitter news to come from their first victory in three matches in all competitions, including some concern for David De Gea.

Solskjaer confirmed Marcus Rashford also picked up a shoulder issue after a foul by Bernard

When asked if there were any injuries at Everton, Solskjaer told MUTV: 'Yes. Victor's back, Marcus's shoulder, Luke Shaw's hamstring. That's three I can remember from the top of my head.

'I hope everyone else is okay. David didn't play [in midweek] but he had a groin problem before the game.'

Both Lindelof and Rashford lasted the full 90 minutes in Merseyside on Saturday, but Shaw had to be withdrawn by Solskjaer after 67 minutes for Axel Tuanzebe due to the hamstring problem.

Luke Shaw was forced off the 3-1 win at Everton in the second-half due to a hamstring problem

In his post-match interview with BT Sport, Solskjaer slammed the 'football authorities' for the lack of rest time given to the club following their Champions League game in midweek.

United were beaten 2-1 by Istanbul Basaksehir on Wednesday night and did not get back home until four o'clock in the morning on Thursday. Solskjaer was furious that his side were forced to play at Everton just over 48 hours after their return.

'Our boys were set up to fail today with the scheduling,' he raged. 'How can you expect players to perform with the 12.30 kick off time? It's an absolute joke.

Solskjaer (above) was furious his side were given little rest after their Champions League game. The Everton game came 48 hours after Man United landed back after their loss in Turkey

'Of course we tried to move this game. What sense was there playing Saturday lunchtime when we could play Sunday because of the international break afterwards.

'I pushed my club to really fight on this one to give us half a chance. But it was just quashed and we were told "No, it's been selected".'

The Manchester United boss, who is under intense pressure at Old Trafford after a slow start to the Premier League season, pointed as the large amount of injuries felt by the clubs since the start of the campaign in September.

Solskjaer added: 'There have been too many serious injuries in the Premier League this season that can be from physical or mental fatigue.

'We want this product to be the best in the world. We don't want it to harm any player. These are difficult times for everyone, not just football, and we need to look after everyone.

'Use common sense, and sort out the schedule. This is such a serious issue, that we don't look after these players. They are not robots, they are human beings.'

Luke Shaw's injury leaves Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeing red after he vented his anger at the congested fixture list, with Manchester United defender facing a month out

* Man United are furious after Luke Shaw was ruled out for a month with injury
* United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has vented his frustration over the schedule
* He felt his side were forced to play too soon after their Champions League clash
* United played Everton on Saturday after arriving home on Thursday morning
* Shaw will now be sidelined along with both Marcus Rashford and Victor Lindelof

Manchester United are furious after Luke Shaw was ruled out for a month with the hamstring injury he suffered at Everton last weekend.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer vented his frustration over the fixture schedule after United were given a lunchtime kick-off at Goodison Park on Saturday having only arrived back from a Champions League game in Istanbul in the early hours of Thursday morning.

And Solskjaer's anger was compounded when United confirmed that Shaw will be sidelined for four weeks after he was injured along with Marcus Rashford and Victor Lindelof in the 3-1 win.

The 25-year-old defender, who has started every Premier League and Champions League match for United this season, is now set to miss games against West Brom, Southampton and West Ham, as well as all three remaining Group H fixtures against Istanbul Basaksehir, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has vented his frustration over the schedule. The United boss is furious after Luke Shaw has been ruled out for a month with injury

Solskjaer revealed at the weekend that United tried unsuccessfully to move the Everton game to ease the burden on his team.

'How can you expect players to perform to the best of their ability when you send them out at 12.30pm? Absolute joke,' he said.

'A month ago we tried to move this game. What sense is there for us to play on a Saturday when we could play on the Sunday and there is an international break afterwards?

United's Marcus Rashford and Victor Lindelof have also been sidelined due to injuries

'I can't say enough how hard these times are for everyone, not just footballers, and we want to see football with quality.

'Our players were set up to fail today with the schedule. I pushed my club to really fight the kick-off time on this one to give us at least half a chance, but it was quashed.'

New signing Alex Telles, who has been in quarantine following a positive Covid test, will be available to replace Shaw at left back after the international break and United can also call on Brandon Williams.

Rashford sustained a shoulder injury, but should be fit to play for England when the Nations League resumes this weekend. Lindelof also aggravated a back problem.

Manchester United facing nervous wait over Alex Telles as they say he HASN'T necessarily contracted Covid again despite testing positive for a second time - with Luke Shaw already out injured

* Manchester United will assess Alex Telles upon his return to England this week
* Reports in Brazil suggest the new signing has tested positive for Covid-19 again
* However, United say he has not necessarily contracted the virus a second time
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in need of a fit left back after the injury of Luke Shaw

Manchester United will assess Alex Telles upon his return to England after reports in Brazil suggested the new signing has tested positive for coronavirus for a second time.

The 27-year-old was sidelined in October after contracting the virus shortly after his arrival from Porto, and missed four games as a result.

Telles' only appearance for the club came in the 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain last month in the Champions League.

Manchester United will assess Alex Telles once the full back returns to England from Brazil. Reports in Brazil suggest the 27-year-old has tested positive for coronavirus for a second time

And United have sought to clarify Telles' health status after reports in Brazil suggested the full back had tested positive for the disease while away on international duty.

The Red Devils have said in an official statement that Telles' positive test does not necessarily mean he has contracted the virus again, as the defender looks set to miss Brazil's clash with Uruguay on Tuesday night.

The club's medical staff are monitoring the situation closely, and will make an assessment of the 27-year-old when he returns to the Aon Training Complex later this week.

However United have said that Telles has not necessarily contracted the virus again. Ole Gunnar Solksjaer will hope Telles is available ahead of a busy run of fixtures after the break

Telles' absence would prove a blow to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, whose squad had been hit by injuries before the international break.

Left back Luke Shaw picked up a knock in the 3-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park, while Marcus Rashford appeared to hurt his back during the victory.

Solskjaer bemoaned the heavy fixture pile up and blasted football authorities for what he deemed as unfair scheduling, saying his side had been 'set up to fail' as a result.

United are missing Luke Shaw after the full back picked up a knock against Everton

'They set up the boys to fail,' the United boss said after the much-needed win. 'We have got Luke Shaw injured because we have played loads of games this season already, been to Turkey on Wednesday, got back at 4am on Thursday and we are playing a lunchtime kick-off on Saturday.

'It is an absolute shambles and I cannot praise the boys enough for the character they have shown. That is all I want to talk about. Those boys deserve better than being thrown out here to fail today. The authorities set us up to fail.'

United host West Bromwich Albion on Saturday before taking on Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League next Tuesday.

Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer given boost ahead of West Brom clash with left back Alex Telles available after testing negative for coronavirus

* Manchester United hope to have Alex Telles available for West Brom clash

* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be without injured Luke Shaw at left back at weekend

Manchester United hope to have Alex Telles available against West Brom this weekend after the Brazil defender was cleared to face Uruguay on Tuesday night following another Covid scare.

United's new £13.6million signing has missed the last five games since making his debut against Paris Saint-Germain a month ago after contracting coronavirus.

Reports in Brazil claimed that Telles had tested positive again, but he was allowed to rejoin the squad for Tuesday night's World Cup qualifier in Montevideo following a negative result.

Manchester United face more injury woe as striker Anthony Martial trains alone during France camp due to a back problem… and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer faces the prospect of being without Frenchman, Marcus Rashford AND Mason Greenwood for West Brom

* Manchester United may be forced to play West Brom without Anthony Martial
* He failed to take part in a French training session on Monday due to a back injury
* Martial could also be ruled out of France's Nations League game against Sweden
* Martial will undergo an individual session to assess whether he will be fit to play
* The result could see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer without three of his top players

Manchester United could be without Anthony Martial after the French striker picked up a back injury on international duty.

Martial failed to take part in France's team training session on Monday due to a back complaint and could miss the opportunity to face Sweden on Tuesday night.

It is believed Martial will undergo an individual session to assess whether he will be able to take part in the Group A3 fixture taking place at the Stade de France.

Martial started for Didier Deschamps' side in their 1-0 win over Portugal, but was substituted in the 78th minute.

Anthony Martial (above) failed to participate in a French training session due to a back injury

The news comes as a blow to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - who can't afford to lose another game after slipping to 14th in the league after seven fixtures.

Martial was due to return from international duty to feature in United's Premier League meeting with West Brom on Saturday.

However, Martial could be forced to join Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood on Solskjaer's ever-growing injury bench.

Rashford has been ruled out due to a shoulder injury that he sustained during United's vital 3-1 win over Everton earlier in the month.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may be forced to play west Brom without forward Martial. Rashford could be ruled out due to a shoulder injury, with Greenwood is said to be ill

Rashford was also forced to withdraw from Gareth Southgate’s England squad due to his injury, but he is said to be back to 50 per cent fitness.

Greenwood's participation in Saturday's fixture with West Brom is said to be touch and go due to illness. The youngster is said to be around 75 per cent fit for the game.

As a result, Solskjaer may have to rely on Edinson Cavani - who came off the bench to score the final goal in United's clash with Everton on November 7.

As for Didier Deschamp - he could be forced to field a weaker forward line than he would have anticipated for their fixture against Sweden.

Deschamps is yet to declare whether Kylian Mbappe will feature in Les Bleus' Nations League game with Sweden.

Mbappe was ruled out of their game against Portugal due to a thigh strain he suffered against Nantes on October 31.

Should both Martial and Mbappe be absent against Sweden, the responsibility could fall to Chelsea's Olivier Giroud.

Giroud has been the topic of many conversations over the past few weeks with Deschamps urging the country's second-highest goalscorer to seek a move if he wants to improve his chances of adding a possible Euro 2020 title to his 2018 World Cup crown.

The 34-year-old striker has made just one start under Frank Lampard this season, playing a total of just 33 minutes in the Premier League.

Paul Pogba closing in on return for Manchester United's Champions League clash against Istanbul Basaksehir but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fears Luke Shaw could be out for SIX weeks with hamstring injury

* Paul Pogba returned from international duty with France with an ankle issue
* He missed the win against West Brom on Saturday as a result of the problem
* But Pogba trained on Monday morning ahead of the Istanbul Basaksehir clash
* And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful of having him available for Tuesday night

Three weeks on from that debacle in Istanbul and Manchester United have a chance to ensure an embarrassing blip in Group H does not turn into something altogether more serious.

An excellent start brought about by wins over Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig fell apart at the Fatih Terim Stadium thanks to a 2-1 defeat by Basaksehir and the shambolic manner of the goals conceded.

Tuesday night’s game at Old Trafford gives United a chance to put that right and restore daylight between them and their group rivals. For Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, however, the damage may already have been done. The 10-point target set by the United manager might just have risen to 12.

Man United will make a late decision on Paul Pogba's fitness before facing Istanbul Basaksehir. Pogba missed Saturday's win over West Bromwich Albion with a slight ankle problem

Asked how important it is to win on Tuesday, Solskjaer replied: ‘The short answer is very. We know the compilation of the group and we started well with two wins.

‘Getting to 10 points as quickly as you can was the main point, but that defeat was a big blow. We need at least 10 points to go through definitely. Maybe it’s even likely that you have to have 12 points, so we’re going to go into this game trying to win it.

‘The level of concentration needs to be better. We know the two goals we conceded were on bad breakaways. The first goal was the worst goal to concede and the second a counter-attack.’

United will make a late decision on Paul Pogba’s fitness after he missed Saturday’s win over West Brom with an ankle problem, and Solskjaer revealed that Jesse Lingard is self-isolating and Luke Shaw could be out for another month with a hamstring injury.

Pogba - who had started United's previous two games on the bench - trained on Monday. And boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now hopeful he will be available against the Turkish side

Solskjaer also addressed Anthony Martial’s form, with United’s 23-goal top scorer last season netting just two this term, both in Europe, against Basaksehir and Leipzig.

Solskjaer urged Martial to raise his game, but admitted that a three-match ban for his red card against Tottenham and a loss of confidence have played their part.

‘Anthony made big strides last season, now it’s time again to make even bigger strides,’ said Solskjaer. ‘Every season is a challenge and you cannot rest on your laurels at United.

'There are demands on every position, and we want Anthony to kick on. He scored against Basaksehir last time, a good header, and we hope he’s going to continue to work hard to get back to his best again.’

Solskjaer gave Dean Henderson a Champions League debut in Turkey, but he is set to restore David de Gea in goal this evening.

Henderson’s only other appearances have come in the Carabao Cup, but Solskjaer dismissed concerns that lack of game time could become an issue for the England goalkeeper. ‘Dean wants to stay at United and play for United,’ he said. ‘He is training with one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and he has the potential to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

‘It’s a great competition between them. It’s not up to me to keep everyone happy.’

Manchester United hopeful Paul Pogba will not be on sidelines for long with his ankle injury - and are not ruling midfielder out of weekend's Premier League clash at Southampton

* Paul Pogba has missed Manchester United's last two games with ankle problem
* United have concerns Pogba suffered a flare-up of last season's ankle injury
* But United are not ruling 27-year-old out of the game vs Southampton on Sunday
* However, they will not rush him back so not to risk aggravating problem further

Manchester United are hopeful Paul Pogba will not be a long-term absentee despite concerns he has suffered a flare-up of last season's ankle injury.

Pogba has missed United's previous two matches with an ankle problem, and Sportsmail can reveal the France international's current injury is positioned on the same joint that caused him significant problems at various junctures last term.

The World Cup winner eventually underwent surgery in January to resolve the long-standing ailment - and United medical staff are being extra cautious with Pogba's current problem as a result.

Manchester United are hopeful that Paul Pogba will not be on the sidelines for long. United had been concerned that Pogba had suffered a flare-up of last season's ankle injury. United are not ruling the 27-year-old out of the game with Southampton on Sunday

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed on Monday that Pogba has suffered inflammation of the troublesome ankle, causing him to miss Tuesday's Champions League win over Istanbul Basaksehir.

United are not ruling out the 27-year-old for Sunday's clash against Southampton, but will not rush the midfielder back so not to risk aggravating the problem further.

But even if Pogba does not prove his fitness in time to replace the Saints, it is understood the former Juventus star is not facing a lengthy period on the sidelines.

Anthony Martial left at Manchester United's team hotel in Southampton by himself after French forward 'fell ill overnight', reveals manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

* Anthony Martial travelled to the south coast with the Manchester United squad
* But he was forced to stay by himself in the Southampton hotel due to illness
* Mason Greenwood started up front alongside Marcus Rashford in his place

Anthony Martial was ruled out of Manchester United's Sunday afternoon Premier League clash away at Southampton after falling ill.

The Manchester United forward travelled down to the south coast with the rest of the squad, but became ill overnight and was unable to play.

The Frenchman has not scored yet in the Premier League this season, only delivering one assist, although his general play has been strong.

Anthony Martial missed Manchester United's game with Southampton after falling ill overnight. Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was forced to leave Martial in the hotel in Southampton

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed the reason for his absence at St Mary's and also explained his starting line-up.

He told the United website: 'Anthony fell ill overnight so he's in the hotel by himself, poor lad. So that's the reason Ant isn't playing.

'Edinson (Cavani) played well in midweek but we felt Mason (Greenwood) needed a game as well to start with.

'Donny (van de Beek) is definitely ready. He's been good in training and he has been good in games he's played, in the Champions League. It's never been Premier League or Champions League. It's to give him time to settle into the group.'

Dutchman van de Beek made his first Premier League start of the season after featuring regularly in the Champions League, while Mason Greenwood made a rare start up front.

But while one summer signing in van de Beek started, it was another new arrival who stole the headlines as Cavani scored two and set up another to help United complete a brilliant comeback from two goals down to beat Southampton 3-2 at St Mary's.

Midfielders Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay also missed the match after picking up minor knocks in the week.
