Last edited by fredrian.seven; 24-02-2016 at 03:02 PM.. |

Re: Manchester United under Louis van Gaal
Manchester United players may be affected by the criticism aimed at me, admits under fire manager Louis van Gaal
* Louis van Gaal is under mounting pressure as Manchester United manager * United were knocked out of Champions League and have fallen out top four * Van Gaal was met with fresh criticism after defeat by minnows Midtjylland * Dutchman admits negativity towards him could be affecting his players Louis van Gaal admits that the personal criticism aimed at him this season may be having an adverse effect on his team. The Dutchman has come under fire as much for United’s performances as results after they have crashed out of the Champions League group stage and slipped out of the top-four in the Premier League. The season hit a new low last week when they were beaten 2-1 by Danish champions Midtjylland in the first leg of their Europa League tie, with fresh calls for United chief Ed Woodward to sack his manager. Louis van Gaal believes criticism aimed at him could be having a negative impact on his players Ahead of Thursday’s return leg, Van Gaal acknowledged that the barrage of criticism from supporters and the media may be affecting his players. He said: ‘I think maybe it can be an influence because there is a lot of criticism. ‘But they have to use their tools to ignore the criticism because that’s very important, not only the criticism of their manager but also of themselves. That is also a means to prepare yourself always properly. It should not be an influencing subject.’ Midfielder Juan Mata, who was criticised for failing to do more to stop Midtjylland’s winning goal last week, insisted that the players should be able to take the flak. The Spaniard said: ‘It’s something you have to handle playing for such a club. No-one knows better than myself how I played, and if we have done good or bad. I’m not really bothered about these things. I was very sad about the result and for the fans, and not because I’ve been criticised.’ Van Gaal has urged his players to block out the criticism as they attempt to overturn the deficit on Thursday Van Gaal understandably pointed to United’s chronic injury list as a reason for their troubles this season, with up to 17 players unavailable for selection on Thursday. David De Gea will once again miss out after injuring his knee in the warm-up in Denmark, and it remains to be seen if Jesse Lingard and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson can play after limping out of Monday’s FA Cup win at Shrewsbury. United hope that Chris Smalling can play after hurting his shoulder in a collision with an advertising hoarding in that game, but 17-year-old centre-back Regan Poole has been added to the squad just in case and could make his debut. At least there was some more optimistic news on Wednesday morning when both Antonio Valencia and Marcos Rojo returned to first-team training. Van Gaal said: ‘The circumstances are not so easy for the players because we have to change our line-up a lot of times and that’s not beneficial for team building. ‘We shall do everything to recover the players. It’s only the second day after the Shrewsbury game so we have to wait and see tomorrow because we want to start with our strongest team. ‘I was hoping for (De Gea to play) to play but he shall not be involved, that is already certain. Valencia is not available for selection, and neither Januzaj. They are close. Rojo can only come in for 20 minutes maybe. That is possible but dependable on the other injuries. He has already trained with the second team.’ Code:

Re: Manchester United under Louis van Gaal
Kalo title race udah susah ngejar Leicester n Spurs. |

Re: Manchester United under Louis van Gaal

Re: Manchester United under Louis van Gaal
Van Gaal: Small squad empowered youth
Louis van Gaal believes the emergence of talents like Marcus Rashford, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Guillermo Varela has vindicated his decision to downsize Manchester United's senior ranks. The manager spoke at Friday's press conference about the positive effects of younger players getting their opportunity in the first team and how this swayed his decision not to enter the winter transfer market. "In January we took the risk not to buy a left full-back. We needed one, but we said maybe Borthwick-Jackson and Varela could do the job. There was interest from Spanish clubs for Varela but we said no. “All the young players are hungry and a colleague of yours (another journalist) used the word 'desire' which is a very good word. They want to prove and show to the manager, to everybody, that they are the best. They always give spirit to the team and that’s why we decided not to invest in January. "The policy is to have a small selection so you can give youngsters a chance. Thanks to my policy and the club who approved it, Rashford is there and it's the same with Borthwick-Jackson and Varela.” Van Gaal admitted there are potential disadvantages to fielding too many young players too often but pointed out that the recent reliance on them has done little to harm United's chances of success this season. “It’s about consistency and youngsters are not consistent," he added. "Of course there are exceptions like Anthony Martial but that is a big exception. Most of the players cannot show that every week so it’s a big risk but we are still in three competitions and the team has more spirit. "We have a great momentum because we have discovered that a lot of young players can play at this level and the [senior] players who are now coming back have to compete with these youngsters. That's fantastic." When asked about the level of pressure the likes of Rashford would be subjected to at the business end of the season, van Gaal responded: “I don’t want to give pressure to the young players. It is fantastic what he [Rashford] has done already because he was one of the youngsters who have made a great contribution to the new spirit in our team. The others include Borthwick-Jackson and Varela, and also now Timothy Fosu-Mensah and James Weir. They give a lot of spirit. “Borthwick-Jackson, Rashford and Varela have done very well and it will be more difficult for the older players to come back. But when the older players reach their [true] level, then it will also be difficult for the youngsters to continue in the line-up.” HTML Code:

Re: Manchester United under Louis van Gaal
Van Gaal policy attracting more signings
Louis van Gaal says his policy of trusting youth in the Manchester United first team will result in more youngsters joining the club in the near future. The manager spoke openly about his policy of blooding so many Academy players after being informed of the traditions of the club when first discussing taking over as manager. "I had two maiden speeches with them, two conversations, first with Ed [Woodward] and later with the owners," said van Gaal. "They have said what the culture is of Manchester United and why they want me. One of the reasons was that. I used a lot of players also on the tour in America and on the tour last year. You need also the luck that youngsters are performing at that level. "It's not always the case and, when you see how many players I give the chance to show themselves, at the end only two are three players are finishing as a player of Manchester United. But, when you have me as the manager, you have a lot of chances. Also, a lot of players, because of that, are coming next season to Manchester United because they see that [I give them a chance]." When asked what the key is for young players developing into first-team stars, the boss replied: "They have to be open for their manager, their staff and, of course, open also for all the players who can guide them. I think we have a very good staff so it's very wise that they are open and doing the things we are asking. But it always starts with the player himself. It's not the manager. "I've said it today to a player again - it's not me, I'm doing always what I think I have to do but you put yourself in my attention and then I shall give you always a chance. Then, you have to grab it. It's like that. It starts with the player but the player has to be open for a lot of things - not only the tactical situation or technical situation but how he stands in human life, how he can put his career in that human life because that's also important." Reserves and Academy players turn out against the senior side in an 11 v 11 practice match when van Gaal mirrors the upcoming games before every fixture in training. "Ryan Giggs is the trainer-coach of the simulated opponent," he confirmed. "So we simulate the play of West Brom, for example. When youngsters are coming, they learn a lot because of that and they have to perform like West Brom, not like Marcus Rashford or who they are. Do you understand? And then I can see if they want to do it or not." HTML Code:
