Default Re: Predicting EPL 2018-19, 2019-2020 Champions, Top 4, Relegated

Norwich are RELEGATED from the Premier League with three games still to play as Chris Sutton labels them 'gutless' and Robbie Savage says they played like 'an U15 team'

* Norwich have had relegation to the Championship mathematically confirmed
* Defeat by West Ham inside an empty Carrow Road saw hope of survival ended
* Daniel Farke's side have not claimed a single point since football returned
* No team in top flight has netted fewer goals than Norwich (26) this season

Norwich saw relegation from the Premier League confirmed on Saturday lunchtime following their 4-0 defeat by West Ham.

Daniel Farke's side sit bottom of the table with 21 points from 35 games and have not picked up a single point since football returned under Project Restart.

Six straight defeats has seen them concede 15 goals and score just once in what has been a miserable campaign for the Norfolk club and they have now become the first team to be relegated from the Premier League five times.

Norwich's relegation back to the Championship was confirmed by defeat on Saturday

Daniel Farke's side have failed to pick up a single point since the season was restarted

The relegation sees Norwich overtake Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Crystal Palace in the unwanted books. They all have four relegations from the top-flight to their name.

Saturday's defeat leaves them with just nine points available to close a 13-point gap to Watford, who came from behind to beat Newcastle.

Farke and his side have mustered just five league wins all season, with the most recent of them arriving at home against Leicester in February.

That 1-0 victory at Carrow Road remains one of only two league victories for Norwich in 2020.

Norwich won promotion to the top flight last season by winning the Championship in style, ending their their three-year absence.

Quote:
MISERABLE PROJECT RESTART RETURN

Norwich 0-3 Southampton

Norwich 0-1 Everton

Arsenal 4-0 Norwich

Norwich 0-1 Brighton

Watford 2-1 Norwich

Norwich 0-4 West Ham
But limited spending in the transfer market has cost them dearly and despite beating Pep Guardiola's Manchester City earlier in the season, it has largely been a disappointing season for the Canaries.

No team has scored fewer than Norwich's 26 goals this term or shipped more than Norwich's 67 goals against.

Chris Sutton led the condemnation of his former club's limp surrender, tweeting: 'That was a gutless performance from Norwich City... the players should be embarrassed with that today.'

'It's been a poor season for Norwich, they're scored the fewest goals, 26,' BT Sport pundit Robbie Savage added.

'Where would they be without Teemu Pukki?

'They can't defend. It's not a good combination, you don't score, you can't defend, only one result - relegated, end of.'

In his analysis of the first-half on Saturday, in which Michail Antonio scored twice to give West Ham a 2-0 lead, Savage again took aim at the Canaries.

'If my Under 15's defended like Norwich, I'd be having a right go at them,' he said.

'Pathetic defending, no communication.'

Norwich haven't picked up a single point since the Premier League restarted last month

Following a 2-1 defeat by relegation rivals Watford on Tuesday, Farke refused to place the blame on his players as to their fate, but days later it was confirmed.

'Of course we are disappointed with the outcome but the lads tried everything which is possible for their individual quality level,' he said after the Watford loss.

'I'm a bit disappointed with a few mistakes or not using chances or not being effective enough, but I'm far away from blaming my players.

'I have to back them, they will develop and learn from this season.'

Captain Alexander Tettey looks dejected and was struggling for words after their 4-0 defeat

After their relegation was confirmed on Saturday, captain Alex Tettey was lost for words.

'It's very hard for me to talk. That was a tough game for us. We came out trying to be positive,' Tettey told BT Sport.

'For all four goals, we can't defend like that. Even teams that are struggling will punish you.

'That's what happened today we got punished for every mistake we made.

Youngster Aarons was visibly upset after the result confirmed Norwich's relegation

'It's very tough. I have been saying all season it's going to be tough. We go into games trying to be positive.

'It's always tough to get yourself going mentally and that's what's it been to be fair.

'As I have said before, it's not been a club that has well-established players worth £40-50million.

'When you are trying to compete in the Premier League it's always difficult. We have been in games, but we haven't had the character and the bodies to get enough points.

'It's been a tough journey. It's a young group and now we will take that experience with us.'

Solskjaer surrenders! Gloomy Ole writes off Manchester United's title hopes as his team drop crucial points against Everton after stoppage-time drama at Old Trafford

* Manchester United title hopes took a blow after the dramatic draw with Everton
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team were on course to draw level on points with City
* But Dominic Calvert-Lewin stuck deep in stoppage time for a share of the spoils
* Solskjaer effectively wrote off United's title credentials after the late equaliser

Harry Maguire checked with referee Jon Moss for confirmation that Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s last-second equaliser would stand, and there was indeed no more time left on the clock, before roaring an expletive into the cold night air. Manchester United kicked off again and Moss blew the final whistle.

Maguire’s sentiment will have been shared by everyone associated with United. This was a painful draw that felt like a defeat.

But was it a fatal blow to United’s hopes of winning the Premier League? Not yet. Curtains for a club that has fought so many title battles to the last? Hardly.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wrote off Manchester United's title chances after their draw with Everton. United have an attack to match any in the league and were good going forward against Everton

So it was odd to hear Ole Gunnar Solskjaer effectively write off his team’s chances shortly afterwards.

The United manager has been trying to manage expectations around Old Trafford for the last few weeks and that is perhaps understandable. But this was altogether more downbeat.

‘We’re not talking about winning titles,’ said Solskjaer. ‘We’ve come a long way this team and we shouldn’t have been considered as title contenders.’

Why not? Manchester City are the clear favourites but United are their closest challengers in this strangest of seasons that has opened up so many possibilities.

We are only in February and no one wins the title now, as Solskjaer has said. If United had held on for another few seconds, they would have gone joint top with City having played two more games.

The manager has been in charge for more than two years and named a match-day squad against Everton that cost nearly £600million. If United aren’t title contenders by now then perhaps they ought to be.

They are clearly making progress under Solskjaer and if there is still the slightest hope of challenging for the title a little earlier than he expected, why not take it? There are no guarantees City will be any weaker next season and Liverpool certainly won’t be.

Harry Maguire was left appealing in vain after Dominic Calvert-Lewin's dramatic late equaliser. United were on course to draw level with City before Calvert-Lewin saw them drop two points

Roy Keane has already suggested his old club are ‘frightened’ of mounting a title challenge, and Sportsmail pundit Jamie Redknapp also thinks United should have more conviction.

‘You’re not going to have a better chance,’ said Redknapp. ‘This United team should be believing. This is the year anything’s possible. They’re not kids, are they? They’re full of experience. He should be telling this team: believe you can do it. City are by far and away the best team but they might have a blip still.’

United have an attack to match any in the Premier League and were excellent going forward on the 63rd anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster.

Marcus Rashford provided a wonderful cross for Edinson Cavani to open the scoring and Bruno Fernandes delivered an even better shot to make it 2-0.

But they were woeful in defence and Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodriguez struck twice in the space of four minutes after half-time. Scott McTominay headed United back in front but Calvert-Lewin equalised in the 95th minute.

It came a from a free-kick conceded by United substitute Axel Tuanzebe, who revealed he has been subjected to racist abuse for the second time in recent weeks.

David de Gea was criticised for making a weak attempt to block Calvert-Lewin having pushed the ball straight to Doucoure for Everton’s first.

Dean Henderson is likely to be in goal for Tuesday night’s FA Cup tie against West Ham and, not for the first time, Solskjaer was asked about De Gea’s position, answering: ‘Every player has to earn his place. We’re a squad with competition and that applies to every single one in the team.’

Everton face Tottenham in the cup at Goodison Park on Wednesday and Carlo Ancelotti was delighted with another excellent result away from home. ‘Wow! What a game, unbelievable! Fantastic emotion,’ said the Italian, who got a bear hug from his jubilant assistant Duncan Ferguson after the dramatic late equaliser.

Default Re: Predicting EPL 2018-19, 2019-2020 Champions, Top 4, Relegated

Gary Neville says the Premier League's top four spots are already SECURED - with Liverpool tipped to miss out behind Manchester United, Chelsea in third and Leicester fourth - as he slams the 'inconsistency' of struggling giants

* Manchester United and Leicester kept up their quest for Europe with big wins
* Chelsea slipped up at Leeds but remain in fourth and ahead of West Ham in fifth
* Gary Neville has now claimed the top four spots are already decided this season
* His tips would see Liverpool and Tottenham miss out on the Champions League

Gary Neville is adamant that the Premier League's top four spots are already secured this season due to the inconsistency of the teams below them.

With a rampant Manchester City running away with the title, a fierce battle for Europe has broken out - although champions Liverpool are adrift of the pace following their miserable campaign.

And Sky Sports pundit Neville has now tipped them to miss out entirely on securing Champions League football again through the league.

Manchester United and Leicester continued their fine form with crucial wins over West Ham and Sheffield United respectively at the weekend.

It is Chelsea who currently hold fourth spot and Neville is confident that, despite the closeness of teams around them, the complexion of the upper reaches is sorted.

He told the Gary Neville podcast: 'Leicester are the ones that I think you'd be most nervous about because they did blow up last season.

Gary Neville believes the top four spots in the Premier League are already secured this season. Manchester United have kept up their quest for second after edging to a win against West Ham

Leicester are one point behind in third and fully in the mix after their rout of Sheffield United

'They had a really difficult run-in. I don't see West Ham catching Leicester. The teams below that are so inconsistent and seem to be all over the place.

'I'm not sure which one of them is capable of putting a run together.

'They're capable of it, some of them, but I would think that Leicester this year would hang on and cement the fact that Brendan Rodgers has done a brilliant job two years on the bounce.

'Last year, they were so unlucky to miss out on the final day against Manchester United. This year, I think they'll get in the top four. I think it'll be Chelsea third and Leicester will be fourth.'

Neville's claim would mean that Liverpool miss out on the Champions League unless they win it. Jose Mourinho's Tottenham have also been tipped to miss out on the top four for next term

Neville's predictions have high-flying West Ham and Everton potentially playing in the Europa League next campaign - and Tottenham and Liverpool at risk of missing out altogether on Europe.

It may well be that two of the top-flight's notable strugglers this term are forced to win the Champions League and Europa League respectively in order to qualify again.

Liverpool eased into the quarter-finals of the premier knockout competition with a 4-0 aggregate triumph over RB Leipzig.

Tottenham, meanwhile, travel to Dinamo Zagreb this Thursday with a 2-0 advantage.

seapes-apesnya sepertinya United bisalah finish di 4 besar, masih bersaing dengan Leicester untuk posisi no 2-3. no 4-5 masih diperebutkan antara Chelsea, WHU, Liverpool, Everton & Spurs, bakal seru nih
