Sir Alex Ferguson has urged United fans to turn up in their thousands on Tuesday night for Gary Neville’s testimonial.

The Reds boss has announced he'll even juggle his team against Blackpool accordingly, to ensure some players are fresh to feature in Neville’s big game.

“Gary’s service to the club deserves a good representation from Manchester United, in terms of the players who appear,” the boss said. “He’s been a fantastic servant to the club and I hope he gets the crowd he deserves.”

Sir Alex is confident United fans will fill the stadium, especially given the news that United’s talented crop of the early 90s, including David Beckham, will reunite for the occasion.

“David Beckham’s coming and Nicky Butt and Phil Neville will also play. They’ll join in with Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Gary, so it will be a fantastic occasion to see them reunited.

“There’s no question those players created a magnificent spirit in the place when they first arrived in the team.”

Gary Neville's all-time best Manchester United XI



Gary Neville began life as a United senior as a bit part player in the so-called '94 Old Trafford Dream Team.

He became an integral part of the 'You'll never win anything with kids' double winners in 1996.

He was a virtual ever-present in the historic marathon Treble winning campaign of 1998-99.

With over 600 United matches on his record the former United captain has eight Premier League titles, three FA Cups, two League Cups, a Champions League trophy, and was twice a member of a Reds side that were crowned Champions of the World.

Next Tuesday he will be honoured with an Old Trafford testimonial against Juventus to mark his 18 years senior service.

He's been a club colleague of some of the world's best footballers and M.E.N Sport set him the daunting task of naming his United Dream Team.

After much agonising, mind changing and exasperating dilemmas he revealed his chosen XI to United reporter Stuart Mathieson.

GOALKEEPER

How do you separate two of the greatest ever goalkeepers?

I played in front of Peter Schmeichel and he had presence and fantastic ability. What a goalkeeper.

Over a shorter period for United Edwin Van der Sar's level of performance has been sensational. Just as Peter was the foundation for the 90s side Edwin has been the bedrock of the team since 2005.

Both have been equally outstanding and great goalkeepers to have behind you. A defender couldn't ask for more.

The only way I could split them is the fact that Peter did it at Old Trafford for longer. But it is a tough choice.

DEFENCE

I would put in Denis Irwin at right back. He was Mr Dependable. You really could rely on Denis game in, game out. He hardly put a foot wrong.

He played more as a left back for United obviously but I have found that place for him because I am including Patrice Evra at left back.

He has been a great performer and one of the best in the world. I remember it took him time to settle into the English game but outside of the Premier League you are not subjected to the same aerial battering you get here.

But now he is attacking balls in the air like he's a Third Division commanding central defender with no fear!

Nemanja Vidic and Jaap Stam would be my central defensive partnership. Vidic is the best I have seen and Jaap was huge for us in the years he was at United.

No,I have changed my mind! I am going to go for Vidic and Rio Ferdinand.

They are the best partnership I have seen in United shirts.

I played with Steve Bruce and Gary Pallister in my early days in the first team and they were unbelievable. But because of the European domination United have had since Vida and Rio have been together I think you have to have them shading it.

In Brucie and Pally's time United were only just finding their feet in the Champions League but Rio and Vida have shown they have been the best pairing on the biggest stage.

MIDFIELD

The Treble winning midfield quartet of David Beckham, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. That four is inseparable. Okay I know Keano and Scholesy were not in the 1999 final in Barcelona against Bayern but they were the recognised central pairing in the engine room all that season and for so many m,ore campaigns.

The four were poetry in motion with a bite you would not believe. That

midfield combination had everything. It had legs, tenacity, passing, dribbling, energy and defensive capabilities.

To play as a midfield four like that was formidable. They were all very intelligent players. All could pass and all could control and they were all dogs. They worked like dogs for the team.

To work their socks off like they did and still have so much quality to give on the skilful side was amazing. They had it all.

ATTACK

Cristiano Ronaldo has to be a cert up front. The goals he scored for United added to the fact he had so much ability to frighten players means he is a must.

For three years from around 2006 to 2009 Cristiano was the best player in the world and that is why he has to be in.

Rooney or Cantona as his partner? I would have to go with Wayne. Cantona is a Messiah at this club and how I haven't put him in the team I will never know!

But Ronaldo helped United get to two European Cups in three years and Wayne has helped us to get to three Champions League finals in four years. That cannot be dismissed.

They also won numerous League Championships in their time and you cannot ignore that.

There was also Ruud van Nistelrooy, Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole, Mark Hughes to consider as well.

Just because the others have retired or gone on from United you tend to think of them more fondly. But you have to respect what the current players have done.

What they have achieved is sensational. In 10 years' time and these lads are all retired I hope we are still looking at a United side who've got to three Champions League finals in four seasons.

This is a golden period in Manchester United's history, the best ever, and that needs acknowledging when selecting a Dream Team.
