Manchester United are 'set to make a MASSIVE £40m loss' on Aaron Wan-Bissaka just three years after signing him, as 'Crystal Palace eye £10m return'… while Red Devils 'line-up moves for Thomas Meunier and Sergino Dest'

* Manchester United will allow Aaron Wan-Bissaka rejoin Crystal Palace for £10m
* The Red Devils signed the 24-year-old right-back for £50m just three years ago
* He initially impressed but has struggled in recent times, losing his starting place
* United want to sign either Thomas Meunier or Sergino Dest as a replacement
* Erik ten Hag is still looking to strengthen in several areas including full-back

Manchester United are set to make a £40million loss on Aaron Wan-Bissaka as they line-up moves for Thomas Meunier and Sergino Dest, according to reports.

Erik ten Hag’s side are still looking to strengthen in several areas including full-back, with Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot facing criticism for their poor performances at right-back over the past year.

And just three years after they signed the former Crystal Palace youngster for £50million, United are prepared to sell Wan-Bissaka back to Selhurst Park for just £10million, according to The Telegraph.

The Palace academy graduate originally impressed at Old Trafford, but has failed to develop as hoped and has since lost his place in the United starting XI to Dalot, with his attacking play never quite matching his defensive abilities.

His former side are now interested in offering the 24-year-old an escape, but are only willing to pay £10million to do so.

Manchester United are set to make a £40m loss on Aaron Wan-Bissaka after just three years. Both Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot have been criticised for their performances at right-back. Crystal Palace are reportedly keen on signing the full-back for £10m after selling him for £50m

Ten Hag is looking to replace Wan-Bissaka with one of Borussia Dortmund right-back Meunier or Barcelona’s Sergino Dest.

Meunier, 30, has started both games for Dortmund in the Bundesliga so far, although he was substituted at half-time during last weekend’s 3-1 win over Freiburg.

The Belgian has previously played for Paris Saint-Germain, Club Brugge and Virton, while he has also won 56 caps for Belgium.

Dest meanwhile has made 72 appearances across two seasons at the Nou Camp after he joined Barcelona from Ajax for £23.5million.

However, he has often featured as a rotational option for the Catalan giants. Sergi Roberto and Ronald Araujo were preferred by Xavi at right-back during pre-season, while Dest was left out of their squad for Saturday's LaLiga opener against Rayo Vallecano.

The American previously played under Ten Hag in the Netherlands and this move follows the trend of the Dutchman signing players he has managed before or seen up close in the Eredivisie, where the new United manager has spent the majority of his managerial career.

Spanish publication Sport reported last week that Ten Hag is willing to send Dalot the other way to complete a deal for Dest. Barcelona have set a price tag of £17million for the USA international but United are hoping to strike a deal by offering the Portuguese full-back in exchange.

However, the Telegraph report that although United are yet to make an offer for Meunier, they are more likely to sign him than Dest due to the price tag Barcelona have placed on the 21-year-old.

West Ham 'interested in taking forgotten £50m Man United man Aaron Wan-Bissaka on loan', with the defender having only played FOUR minutes so far this season under new Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag

* West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka on loan
* A deal could be done in January as they prepare to offer an escape route
* The defender joined the Red Devils for £50million from Crystal Palace in 2019
* He has played just four minutes for United so far this season under Erik ten Hag

West Ham are interested in signing forgotten Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to a report.

The 24-year-old joined United for £50million in 2019 but has found opportunities extremely limited under new manager Erik ten Hag, playing just four minutes so far this season after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

According to Manchester Evening News, however, the London-based side are willing to offer Wan-Bissaka a way out of the Red Devils with a loan move for his services in January.

Wan-Bissaka was a regular in the United side under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but isn't fancied by ten Hag, with Diogo Dalot the first-choice right-back and natural left-back Tyrell Malacia chosen over him to deputise when needed.

West Ham are reportedly interested is signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka on loan in January. David Moyes' side are looking to improve things after a tough start to the new season

He started United's friendlies against Cadiz and Real Betis last week, but there has been no sign the Dutch manager is set to change his mind, with United seemingly keen to cash in if they can.

West Ham, meanwhile, are looking to strengthen after a difficult start to the season that sees them 16th in the Premier League table, just one point above the relegation places.

They have only conceded 17 goals in their 15 games so far, but haven't found anyone to nail down the right-back spot, with the likes of Vladimir Coufal, Ben Johnson and Thilo Kehrer all rotating.

Wan-Bissaka has struggled for game time at United, playing just four minutes this season. He started both of the Red Devils' friendlies last week but is way down the pecking order. New United boss Erik ten Hag has preferred Diogo Dalot and Tyrell Malacia to Wan-Bissaka

The introduction of Wan-Bissaka could allow Kehrer to slot into his perhaps preferred central position.

Though no indication has yet been made that a permanent deal could be on the table, United reportedly told Wan-Bissaka he was free to leave in the summer, and West Ham showed interest.

The Hammers are believed to have a close relationship with the defender's representatives Unique Sports Management, who also represent current West Ham players Maxwel Cornet, Michail Antonio and Aaron Cresswell.

'I genuinely forgot he played for Man United': Fans praise 'forgotten man' Aaron Wan-Bissaka and declare 'he's back' as the out-of-form defender assists United's opening goal against Burnley in his second appearance of the season

* Aaron Wan-Bissaka assisted United's opener against Burnley from Eriksen
* Fans took to social media to praise 'forgotten men' and applaud his pass for goal
* It was only the full-back's second appearance for Man United in this campaign
* United sealed the Carabao Cup victory with a Marcus Rashford goal to win 2-0

Fans have taken to social media to heap praise on Manchester United's 'forgotten man' Aaron Wan-Bissaka after his clever assist for United's opening goal in their Carabao Cup win over Burnley.

Wan-Bissaka was making only his second appearance of the season for Erik ten Hag's side, who were back in action for the first time since the season took a pause for the World Cup in Qatar.

The defender didn't take long to remind fans of the ability that they've failed to see in recent months, as he managed to get on the end of Bruno Fernandes' cross-field pass and spectacularly volley the ball across the face of the goal, and allow Christian Eriksen to tap the ball into the net from close range.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka volleyed the ball into the path of Christian Eriksen for United's opener

It was a timely reminder to the United boss and those watching, what the full-back can offer, and it sparked a flurry of activity on social media praising the former Crystal Palace star.

'Wan-Bissaka best right back in world football, never doubted it.' One account cheekily posted, while another just declared 'Wan-Bissaka is back!'

Another agreed by saying 'Get in Eriksen! Wan-Bissaka has to stay. England's best right back'. Adding a heart in eyes emoji for emphasis.

Fans went online to declare that Wan-Bissaka 'was back' and that he is still a top full-back. Some fans admitted that they had forgotten that Wan-Bissaka was still playing for the club. Others posted that the assist would have added some more millions to his price tag for January

Some weren't quite as gushing, with one fan stating 'Wan-Bissaka looking decent-ish. Hope he revives his career at United or elsewhere.'

Other tweeters were more vocal of the fact that they had forgotten that Wan-Bissaka was still at United this season. His only other appearance had came in a four-minute cameo during the 2-1 win over Liverpool in August, and his assist took some by surprise.

'Just realised Wan-Bissaka is playing, I genuinely forgot he played for United' one fan said. And another tweet followed that same sentiment by saying: 'Forgot Wan-Bissaka existed'.

One fan even thought the assist was part of a dream, tweeting; 'Wan-Bissaka assist in football match!! Please wake me.'

The 25-year-old signed for United in 2019 for a fee of around £45 million. He was a regular starter for the side in his first two seasons at the club, but saw his game time limit last year and has been out of favour since Ten Hag arrived at Old Trafford.

His lack of first team football has led to suggestions he could leave United in January, and West Ham have been linked with the defender. With a possible move in mind, some tweets suggested his price tag may have increased following his gift for Eriksen's goal.

'Aaron Wan-Bissaka price just shot up by £50m. That was some assist'. Stated one fan.

While United YouTuber Mark Goldbridge was more realistic on his price tag, saying: '1-0! What an assist by Wan-Bissaka! Price just went up by £10million.'

Watching the game for Sky Sports Gary Neville threw credit in Wan-Bissaka's direction and admitted he had huge expectations on his shoulder when he joined the club.

Neville said: 'He has been criticised, the price tag was big and his defensive work is pretty solid. On the ball there are massive expectations of what is required of the modern full back and it has been suggested he is not good enough on the ball, and I would probably go along with that. But that was absolutely brilliant what he did there.'

The Red Devils added a second in the second half through Marcus Rashford to finish off a comfortable night and book their place in the competition's quarter-finals.

Marcus Rashford heaps praise on 'massively important' Man United team-mate Aaron Wan-Bissaka as Erik ten Hag insists the right-back DOES has a future despite playing just four minutes in the Premier League this season

* Marcus Rashford has hailed Manchester United team-mate Aaron Wan-Bissaka
* The defender recorded an assist as United beat Burnley 2-0 on Wednesday night
* Wan-Bissaka has only played four minutes in the Premier League this campaign
* But boss Erik ten Hag insisted the 25-year-old does have a future at Old Trafford

Marcus Rashford has hailed Aaron Wan-Bissaka for his performance in Manchester United's League Cup win over Burnley.

The Red Devils beat the Championship side 2-0 at Old Trafford on Wednesday night to move into the quarter-finals of the competition, with the right-back providing a fine assist for Christian Eriksen to open the scoring.

And Rashford, who netted the second goal, told MUTV that his team-mate is a 'massively important player' - despite him only playing four minutes of Premier League football so far this season.

He said: 'Yeah, massively important player. We all know about his defensive qualities and, for me, he just needs confidence to be pushed to go forward because when he goes forward he can create goalscoring opportunities for us and today he had no right to get that ball but he got there anyway.

'It was a good ball across and it looks like a simple goal in the end but it's not, it's the movement and the timing from all three players. Christian arriving late into the box and getting a tap-in. It was a great goal and Azza played a massive part.'

After the game, United manager Erik ten Hag insisted the £50million signing from Crystal Palace does have a future at the club, amid widespread transfer interest in the 25-year-old from the likes of Wolves, West Ham and his former side.

He said: 'Aaron Wan-Bissaka, it's clear he has a future. He had some good years here at Man United, but from the start this season he had a lot of illnesses and injuries, so running behind.

'From the restart on he is fit and he could train with the team and you see him progressing, his fitness levels getting better, his performance levels getting better and I'm really happy today with his performance.

'He gave an assist – especially the way he gave the assist – about his movement in the right moment and timing, and of course a great pass by Bruno [Fernandes], but the assist is great. I'm happy with his performance. He did good.'

Erik ten Hag praises Aaron Wan-Bissaka for two impressive displays on his return to the Man United side after he played just FOUR MINUTES of football before the World Cup... as Diogo Dalot faces a fight to regain the right-back spot

* Diogo Dalot suffered a hamstring injury while playing for Portugal at World Cup
* That has allowed Aaron Wan-Bissaka another chance to impress at Man United
* £50m right-back performed well in wins over Burnley and Nottingham Forest
* United manager Erik ten Hag was happy with Wan-Bissaka's performances

Erik ten Hag has praised Aaron Wan-Bissaka for battling to revive his Manchester United career after a disrupted start to the season.

Wan-Bissaka only played four minutes in the first four months of the campaign due to a combination of illness and injury.

It gave Diogo Dalot the chance to cement his position as Ten Hag's first-choice right-back after impressing the new manager on the club's pre-season tour of Bangkok and Australia.

But Dalot picked up a hamstring injury playing for Portugal at the World Cup, and Wan-Bissaka has done well in United's first two games after the restart against Burnley in the Carabao Cup and Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has impressed on his return to the Manchester United team this week. United manager Erik ten Hag has been impressed by Wan-Bissaka as he seeks competition

United have scored five goals without reply with Wan-Bissaka setting up a goal for Christian Eriksen against Burnley and playing particularly well against Forest on Tuesday night in an unfamiliar defence that featured Luke Shaw at centre-back for the first time.

The 25-year-old's future at Old Trafford was in some doubt last summer amid suggestions the club would listen to offers for him, and there is ongoing speculation that he could return to Crystal Palace three-and-a-half years after leaving Selhurst Park for United in a £50million move.

But with Ten Hag working to a tight budget in January and prioritising a new striker, he is unlikely to look at new right-backs until next summer.

The United boss praised Wan-Bissaka for his return to form and fitness, saying: 'First you have to be on the pitch, and in the first half of the season he was either injured or ill so he didn't have a role in the squad.

Wan-Bissaka at full stretch as he crosses for Christian Eriksen to score in the win over Burnley. Diogo Dalot was United's first choice right-back but suffered an injury at the World Cup. The 23-year-old defender now faces a fight to re-gain his place in United's starting line-up

'So I think the break was good for him. He returned, he was in the training camp in Spain and could play some games in preparation of the restart, and now he's playing two games and he's doing really well so I'm happy with his performance.

'We need competition in the squad. He has to play games in the team and then he can develop, then he can grow.'

Dalot now faces a fight to re-gain his place in United's starting line-up after Wan-Bissaka's impressive displays.

'This is big boy stuff!': Roy Keane tells Aaron Wan-Bissaka to 'do your job' after the Man United defender was at fault for Arsenal's first goal, as Cesc Fabregas labels him 'naive'

* Manchester United were beaten 3-2 to league leaders Arsenal on Sunday
* It came after a headed goal from an unmarked Eddie Nektiah in the first half

Roy Keane has slammed Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka after he failed to pick up Eddie Nketiah for Arsenal's first goal.

The Arsenal striker nodded home a free header to level the game shortly after Marcus Rashford's opener at the Emirates, as Wan-Bissaka failed to properly mark him.

Both sides added another through Bukayo Saka and Lisandro Martinez respectively in an end-to-end clash at the top of the Premier League table, before another goal from Nketiah late-on gave Arsenal the three points.

Keane fumed at the fullback's poor defending at half time, as he told Sky Sports: 'It is just his lack of awareness, as if he can’t believe someone is coming around the back of him, he can see him.

'It is a lack of football intelligence, a lack of concentration, considering we praise him saying he is a good defender.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was at fault for Arsenal's first goal against Man United on Sunday. Roy Keane slammed the defender for his 'lack of football intelligence and concertation'. Eddie Nketiah scored a well-placed header after being poorly marked by Wan-Bissaka

'When I hear people saying I wasn’t aware of who was around me, you have to be aware. That’s your job. This is big boy stuff, these are big moments, do your job. Go and attack the ball.'

Cesc Fabregas was similarly scathing of the defender but also praised the attacking play from Arsenal. He added: 'It was fantastic, but there was naivety from United’s point of view. United need to push out, but they gave space.

'[Oleskandr] Zinchenko picked up the ball twice in space and what a ball from [Granit] Xhaka. We can talk about Wan-Bissaka, he is a bit lazy, not looking around. Nketiah smells it so well.'

The result moves Arsenal five points clear at the top of the league with a game in hand over City.
