Van de Beek Dianggap Tak Cukup Bagus untuk MU, Solskjaer Geram
Mohammad Resha Pratama - detikSport

Manajemen Setan Merah diminta bergerak cepat merekrut pemain top sebelum bursa transfer ditutup 5 Oktober.

Lucas Aditya - detikSport

Jakarta - Donny van de Beek tampil ciamik saat membantu Manchester United mengalahkan Brighton & Hove Albion. Pemain Belanda itu meruntuhkan benteng The Seagulls.

'He'll get his game time': Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Donny van de Beek WILL start in the coming weeks... with summer signing limited to just 59 minutes of Premier League action since his arrival

* Donny van de Beek came on with 14 minutes to go against Newcastle United
* The Man United midfielder played a part as United scored three times late on
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists van de Beek will get his chance to start soon

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted that summer signing Donny van de Beek will get his chance in the starting XI after he made another influential impact against Newcastle on Saturday night.

United struck three times late on against the Magpies to claim a 4-1 win at St James' Park, in a crucial result following a disappointing start to the season.

Van de Beek came off the bench with 14 minutes to go on Saturday to help United storm to victory, and an impressed Solskjaer admitted the former Ajax star will get his chance to start in the coming weeks after being reduced to just 59 minutes of Premier League action so far this season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that Donny van de Beek will get his chance in the starting XI

'He'll get his game time. He's been fantastic in the group,' Solskjaer told reporters after the win against Newcastle.

'I think you see today and in training, he's so neat and tidy, I don't think he lost the ball once.

'It's about finding the balance in the team. We've won 4-1 today and you're asking why I didn't start one of the players. He'll have a very good impact on the team.'

£40million man Van De Beek made a promising start to his United career, scoring on his debut in an opening-day defeat against Crystal Palace, but is yet to establish himself as a regular.

Meanwhile, captain Harry Maguire - who has had a torrid few months on and off the pitch - received praise from Solskjaer after bouncing back from his red card on England duty to score in United's win.

'Harry scored and leads by example,' Solskjaer said of his captain.

'He showed good character, I am happy for him. He had a couple of difficult weeks since he last played for us,' Solskjaer said.

'The boys came together really well. They are looking forward to every game. Today I rested a few and they have come on and done the business for us.'

Goals from Bruno Fernandes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford in the closing stages sealed the late victory for United, who moved up to 14th in the table.

Solskjaer's side face an all-together sterner test on Tuesday as they travel to Paris to take on last season's runners-up PSG in the Champions League.

'Donny should have waited and signed for another club': Holland legend Marco van Basten claims Van de Beek will live to regret his £40m move to Manchester United after midfielder failed to come on against Chelsea

\\Holland legend Marco Van Basten claims Donny van de Beek will come to regret his summer move to Manchester United.

The 23-year-old midfielder has only played 61 minutes in the Premier League for the Old Trafford side after arriving from Ajax for £40million in the summer.

The Holland international was once again left on the bench by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - who has promised van de Beek he will get minutes this season - in United's dour 0-0 draw at home to Chelsea.

'Donny should not have gone to Manchester United,' Van Basten said. 'When you are a good player you want to play every week.

'It is really bad for a player like Donny to play only six or seven games this year. That is shocking for your match rhythm.

'I know he is earning loads and loads more than he used to. But as a top player you have to be critical and look at the chances of playing when you sign for a new club.

Van Basten's comments come after former United left-back Patrice Evra questioned why the club had brought van de Beek to the club.

Speaking after the goalless draw against Chelsea, Evra said: 'We're talking about Van de Beek, nothing against the kid, but why have we bought him?

'He's watching the game from the stand every game. We don't need him, that's the truth.'

Fellow Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville said Van de Beek himself will be questioning why he was signed if he is not part of the manager's immediate plans.

Barely a peek of Donny van de Beek as Manchester United's new £40m man looks forlorn on the fringes at Old Trafford after being a starter at Ajax

* Donny van de Beek signed for Manchester United in the summer for £40m
* The Dutchman has struggled for minutes since his arrival from Ajax last month
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has promised that we'll see more out of the 23-year-old
* There is frustration from fans and people back home over his lack of chances

There was little to admire about Manchester United here at Old Trafford, but the strength of their bench was certainly impressive enough.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brought on Edinson Cavani for his debut, Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood. Not a bad supporting cast. The United manager still had Nemanja Matic, Axel Tuanzebe and goalkeeper Dean Henderson in reserve.

Then there was United's seventh substitute. The blond-haired Dutchman sitting forlornly in the rain waiting for his chance to shine. It has been a peculiar time for Donny van de Beek since swapping a starting spot at Ajax, who enjoyed a 13-0 win on Saturday, for a place on the fringes at United.

Donny van de Beek has struggled to get game-time due to the competition at Old Trafford. He has been limited to substitute appearances and never even made it on against Chelsea

What should have been an exciting new chapter in the 23-year-old's career has turned into a period of frustration bordering on stagnation. United's £40million signing has made just two starts, in the Carabao Cup against Luton Town and Brighton. Four Premier League appearances as a substitute have produced a total of 61 minutes, plus a two-minute cameo in the Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain.

There is little doubt that Van de Beek is a victim of the short pre-season. He has not had as long as many new signings to adapt to his new environment, and there is a feeling at United that he needs to build himself up physically for the demands of English football.

But his lack of involvement has only added weight to the argument that United needed to strengthen in other areas instead of adding to their extensive midfield options.

Solskjaer acknowledged the issue before Saturday's draw, saying: 'Donny's fit enough but it's competition for places. It's a new league and it's giving him time to settle and adjust to his new team-mates. He's eager to play more but it's going to be a long season and you'll see him.'

What followed was another evening on the sidelines. Van de Beek only got on the pitch after the final whistle when he took part in a warm-down session with the other unused subs.

His agent, Sjaak Swart, had voiced exasperation last month, pointing out that Van de Beek scored off the bench on his debut against Crystal Palace and was involved again when United won their next league game with a late penalty at Brighton.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Van de Beek is taking time to adjust to a new league since his move. Van de Beek is desperate to play more but he has so far been kept cold on the sidelines

Danny Blind, the former Holland coach and father of ex-United player Daley, echoed the mood in his country after Van de Beek was again surplus to requirements for his club having played 90 minutes twice for the national side against Mexico and Italy in the last international break.

'What was he signed for?' Blind demanded to know on Dutch TV.

'I listened to Solskjaer and he had nothing but praise for Donny. Yet he didn't even give him a cameo. He bought him to beef up the squad. Why not use that squad depth?'

The games don't get any easier. United face RB Leipzig on Wednesday followed by Arsenal, Istanbul Basaksehir and Everton. Van de Beek is desperate to play a part, but for now the wait goes on.

'Why have we bought him? We don't need him, that's the truth': Patrice Evra questions why Manchester United signed £40m man Donny van de Beek after he was left on the bench AGAIN in bore draw against Chelsea

Manchester United don't need £40million signing Donny van de Beek, former defender Patrice Evra has claimed after the midfielder watched his side's draw with Chelsea from the bench.

Van de Beek was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's big summer signing but is yet to start a Premier League game and has played just 60 minutes of league football since arriving at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer has plenty of options in midfield and opted to start Scott McTominay and Fred in the two defensive roles against Chelsea with Bruno Fernandes playing in front of the them.

Paul Pogba was also left on the bench but, unlike Van de Beek, the Frenchman was introduced in the second half.

He said: 'We're talking about Van de Beek, nothing against the kid, but why have we bought him?' Evra said after the game.

Default Re: Donny van de Beek

Donny van de Beek has played just 61 minutes in the Premier League, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doesn't fancy him and Marco van Basten says he should have waited for Barcelona... so why did Man United splash out £40m on a midfielder the manager isn't using?

* Donny van de Beek was Manchester United's big-money signing for £40million
* But the former Ajax midfielder has barely been used by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
* Van de Beek has played 61 minutes and is yet to make a start in the league
* Ex-players Gary Neville and Patrice Evra have questioned why United signed him
* With tough fixtures upcoming, the 23-year-old looks set to stay on the fringes

After scoring 13 minutes into his debut for Manchester United in the season-opening defeat against Crystal Palace, Donny van de Beek must have thought a starting spot was just around the corner - he was wrong.

The 23-year-old, United's major summer signing from Ajax in a £40million deal, has played just 48 minutes in the Premier League since and is yet to start in the top-flight, despite the Red Devils' poor start which leaves them 15th after five matches.

On Saturday, creativity was bereft in an uninspiring goalless stalemate with Chelsea - a game crying out for the Dutchman's nous, vision and proficiency in the final third.

Donny van de Beek was an unused substitute for Man United against Chelsea on Saturday. The £40m man has been used sparingly by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer so far in the Premier League. Patrice Evra and Gary Neville have both questioned why Man United signed Van de Beek

Images therefore of Van de Beek sitting idly on the substitutes bench, unused as the rain poured down in Manchester, have had an impact with both supporters and ex-players questioning: why have United bought him, if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won't use him?

It is something of a mystery. After his impact against Palace, he played just one minute against Brighton the following week. His only starts have come in Carabao Cup wins against Luton and Brighton while on Saturday, amid a plethora of senior options on the bench, Van de Beek was as fed up as the rest of us.

Solskjaer, speaking before Saturday's draw, maintained that the Holland international will get his regular chance soon: 'Donny's fit enough but it's competition for places.

Quote:
DONNY VAN DE BEEK'S MINUTES SO FAR THIS SEASON

19/9: Crystal Palace, 23 minutes (1 goal)

22/9: Luton, 78 mins (EFL Cup)

26/9: Brighton, 1 minute

30/9: Brighton, 90 mins (EFL Cup)

4/10: Tottenham, 22 mins

17/10: Newcastle, 14 mins

20/10: PSG, 2 mins (CL)

24/10: Chelsea, 0 mins
'It's a new league and it's giving him time to settle and adjust to his new team-mates.

'He's eager to play more but it's going to be a long season and you'll see him.'

However, Patrice Evra could not have been more harsh in his criticism of United's transfer policy, simply questioning after Saturday's bore draw: 'We're talking about Van de Beek, nothing against the kid, but why have we bought him?'

A sentiment that was echoed by Gary Neville, who added: 'He doesn't seem to be at the forefront of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans in every game...

'The more he doesn't start, and the more he doesn't come on, the more you're thinking, "Well £40m player, ordinarily you'd get him in the team". He must be thinking: "What am I doing here?" at this moment in time.'

Well, as Solskjaer himself has repeated, competition for places in the United midfield and forward areas are high - Van De Beek will have to be patient.

At the weekend, Scott McTominay and Fred - following a dominant display against PSG in midweek - retained their deeper roles, with Paul Pogba also confined to a seat on the bench.

Further ahead, Bruno Fernandes is perhaps the only guaranteed central starter at the moment, in the number 10 role. But it is on either wing where Van de Beek may be thinking, with some justification: 'Why not me?'

Juan Mata and Dan James were the occupants on Saturday and both struggled to make an impact, with the Welsh winger in particular lacking in productivity.

Van de Beek's prospects of a start are also not helped if Solskjaer decides to resort to a back-three, as he did with great success against PSG last week. That formation means one less spot available in midfield, which does not bode well for the 23-year-old.

However, in the bigger picture of United's summer transfer window - which aside from Van de Beek, only saw incomings in the final October hours - and their list of priorities, there are questions to answer.

Most pointedly, why did United commit their biggest outlay on a player who - despite his long-term potential - plays in a position which is well-stocked already?

Pogba, after the blossoming of his partnership with Bruno Fernandes at the back-end of last season (another duo which has gone AWOL so far this season), was always going to stay, while Van de Beek is not a player who is at his best from a deeper role, breaking up the play.

He made his name at Ajax for being constantly on the front-foot with his aggressive pressing style and once the ball was at his feet in those little pockets between defence and midfield, his quality shone through.

Last season, he scored 10 goals for Ajax and in the season and the year before, when he made his real breakthrough on the European stage as the Dutch champions reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, he hit the back of the net an impressive 19 times.

But, can Van de Beek play in his favoured role with Fernandes in the starting XI? The answer, should Solskjaer persevere with the Portuguese in an advanced role, is no.

Van de Beek was a massive goal threat for Ajax during his last two seasons at the Dutch club. But Bruno Fernandes playing in the number 10 role is not good news for the 23-year-old

Just six weeks into the new season, Dutch footballing legends are already having their doubts: 'Donny should not have gone to Manchester United,' said Marco van Basten.

'When you are a good player you want to play every week. It is really bad for a player like Donny to play only six or seven games this year. That is shocking for your match rhythm.

'I know he is earning loads and loads more than he used to. But as a top player you have to be critical and look at the chances of playing when you sign for a new club.

'Donny should have waited for better prospects and signed for another club.'

The notion he should have moved elsewhere is perhaps a tad hasty. After all, with his £108,000-a-week wages and his five-year contract, he is not just an investment for the 2020-21 season - in the same way Edinson Cavani is - but one for the future too.

Barcelona were an option in the summer though, as has been publicised, with a fee agreed with Ajax for his signature and a potential reunion with Frenkie de Jong.

And as Van Basten notes, there are only so many matches Van de Beek can take sitting on the bench for United before rustiness creeps in, patience wears thin and he begins to doubt whether he made the right choice.

In the short-term too, United's fixtures only get tougher and thus, it is difficult to see where the 23-year-old's first major start will come from.

Marco van Basten has already questioned if Van de Beek should have moved to another club. How long will Van de Beek retain his place in the Dutch squad without minutes for his club? The £40m man has not kicked on since his debut goal, but opportunities could soon emerge

After RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday, United host Arsenal next Sunday before trips to Istanbul Basaksehir and table-toppers Everton before the November international break.

It's a long season and, no doubt, Van de Beek's involvement as we head into the busy festive period will increase. But, for now, Solskjaer has been resistant to starting the £40m man despite indifferent results.

When will the United boss decides to chance his arm? Only time will tell. And until he does, questions will remain about the smartness to spend such a high summer sum on a player currently on the fringes.

'He will play his minutes. It's normal that you have to adapt when you go to a new league': Holland manager Frank de Boer backs Donny van de Beek to force his way into Manchester United's midfield after slow start to his Old Trafford career

* Van de Beek has only started four games across all competitions this season
* The Dutch international is yet to start a Premier League game this campaign
* Frank de Boer has urged the midfielder to be patient and wait for his chance
* The Dutchman has better stats than Paul Pogba despite playing less minutes

Holland manager Frank de Boer insists he isn't concerned about Donny van de Beek's peripheral role at Manchester United.

The 23-year-old joined the Red Devils from Ajax in the summer for a fee of £35.7million, but has only made four starts this season across all competitions and is yet to start a Premier League game.

De Boer understands the player's frustration but urged him to be patient and wait for his opportunity.

When asked at a press conference if he wanted to give the young star a hug, de Boer replied: 'I can't hug him right now of course! I try to give him as much confidence as possible, which I showed by starting him against Italy.

'I think he did well in the games he played, I saw him a few times at United. He's doing well, but they have a great midfield with (Bruno) Fernandes, (Paul) Pogba, Fred, (Scott) McTominay and (Nemanja) Matic.

'It's difficult, but I'm sure he will play his minutes. I can understand he wants to feature more frequently, but on the other hand, it's always normal that you have to adapt when you go to a new league.

'Let's hope he will get his playing time. I am happy that he's well-rested. We can use him here.'

After the international break, van de Beek will in all likelihood target Paul Pogba's position in Manchester United's midfield.

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has struggled to get game time this season. Holland manager Frank de Boer has urged van de Beek to be patient and wait for his chance

The Frenchman has only created two goal scoring opportunities in the league this season, just one more than van de Beek despite having significantly more game time.

Pogba is also yet to score in the Premier League this season whilst the Dutchman scored on his debut in United's 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace in September.

France manager Didier Deschamps made headlines on Monday when he suggested that Pogba couldn't be happy with his role at Old Trafford.

Deschamps is keen for Pogba to rediscover his form, however his comments have only heightened speculation that the 27-year-old wants a move away from the club.
