Barisan tower bakal menjamu United..

Ferdinand in line for Stoke return
ESPNsoccernet - September 22, 2011

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is hoping to call on Rio Ferdinand for the league leaders' trip to Stoke on Saturday, with the Scot believing the veteran defender's experience will be valuable at the Britannia Stadium.

Ferdinand has only featured in two of United's seven games this season because of injury problems, with the England defender missing last weekend's victory over Chelsea with a calf strain.

But against a Stoke side renowned for their aerial threat and physicality, Ferguson is keen to have Ferdinand back in his starting line-up.

Rio Ferdinand has only played once since being injured against West Brom in August

"I'm hoping Rio will be okay for Saturday," Ferguson told United's official website. "When you go to Stoke you need a bit of experience. Rio came into the team when we played at Bolton and gave us that experience, so we hope he'll be fit for Saturday."

The news on Chris Smalling's chances of playing was not so positive, however, with Ferguson revealing that the defender is a "doubt" for the visit to the Britannia.

United have won all three of their matches at Stoke since Tony Pulis' side were promoted to the Premier League, though they have always been made to work hard for their victories, with Javier Hernandez's late goal securing the three points last time they met.
Pemain Stoke posturnya tinggi tinggi gitu apa gak takut kesamber geledek ya

Stoke v United

United hope to make it four wins from four visits to*the Britannia Stadium...

Form Guide
United are aiming to extend a perfect record in the Barclays Premier League after last weekend's 3-1 triumph against Chelsea. Stoke are in fifth place after a promising start ended with a 4-0 hammering at Sunderland. The fact Tony Pulis' Potters had previously been on a draining trip to Dynamo Kiev (1-1) may at least partly explain that Stadium of Light setback; this week's midweek exertions led to a penalty shoot-out victory over Spurs, at home in the Carling Cup.

Ins and Outs
Danny Welbeck is fit again for United fter a hamstring problem but Javier Hernandez is a doubt. Chris Smalling could miss out with a groin strain and Nemanja Vidic, Rafael and Darron Gibson are still likely to be sidelined. Sir Alex Ferguson has told ManUtd.com that Rio Ferdinand could be set to start. Stoke must wait for an update on forward Ricardo Fuller's fitness after an Achilles injury while defender Danny Higginbotham misses out on the chance to play against his former club. Kenwyne Jones picked up a knock in the Carling Cup tie against Spurs.

Last Meeting
The Reds were pushed all the way by Stoke at Old Trafford on 4 January 2011, but completed*a league*double over them by repeating the 2-1 triumph at the Britannia Stadium. Javier Hernandez made it three goals in two games against the Potters with a cheeky backheel, only for Dean Whitehead to level matters early in the second half. Nani cut in to bury a spectacular left-footed drive to swing things back in United's favour just past the hour mark.

Top Man
Former United trialist Matthew Etherington is a classic example of why the portrayal of Stoke as a long-ball side is unfair. The winger is a class act who always causes problems for opposing full-backs and is maturing into a main player for Pulis' men. With Peter Crouch an obvious target in the middle, the brief will be for Etherington to supply plenty of crosses and put the champions under pressure.

Quote/unquote
"Stoke beat Liverpool and drew with Chelsea. They're making a big impact and are playing European football now. There's always room for teams to progress in this league and I see Stoke becoming quite an important side." - Sir Alex Ferguson.

Any sub-plots?
The Potters' fans will be wound up for the big clash against United and it promises to be a hostile atmosphere at a noisy Britannia Stadium. After quietening another intimidating crowd at Elland Road in midweek, the aim will be to do likewise at Stoke. No doubt a few pressmen will sharpen their pens at the prospect of*a possible aerial bombardment for David De Gea from Rory Delap's famed long throw-ins.

Whistle Blower
Peter Walton is the man in the middle. Previous United matches officiated by the Northamptonshire-based referee include last season's wins at home to Everton (1-0) and the action-packed away trips to Fulham (2-2) and Blackpool (3-2).

Rivals Watch
City kick off the Barclays Premier League weekend with a home game against Everton at lunchtime on Saturday. Chelsea are also in action before United play, entertaining Swansea at 3pm while Liverpool face Wolves and Spurs are at Wigan. Arsenal tackle Bolton as the Gunners look to move up the table.

kangen goalnya Chicha musim lalu nih
heading yg aneh itu

pertandingan terakhirnya kemarin bis dibantai Sunderland 4-0 nih
mereka bakal maen lepas kali ini,gak mau dibantai utk yg ke-2 kali

Jones perlu diwaspadai, duel udaranya manteb, apalagi Smalling cedera sepertinya akan absen

Hernandez fit for Stoke clash

Javier Hernandez escaped serious injury against Chelsea last weekend and could even feature for United against Stoke City on Saturday.

There were grave fears for the Mexican striker's health after an Ashley Cole challenge left Hernandez writhing in agony on the Old Trafford turf.

"At the time it happened, he had no feeling in the leg. There was numbness and and we thought there might have been some nerve damage," Sir Alex told media at his pre-match press conference. But Hernandez resumed training on Thursday and Sir Alex confirmed: "He's available for tomorrow."

The boss also hopes to be able to call on Rio Ferdinand to bolster United's defence against a Stoke side he says has "made phenomenal progress" over the last few years. The England international missed last Sunday's clash with Chelsea with a calf injury but has trained this week and is ready to return.

"Hopefully I’ll have Rio tomorrow," Sir Alex said. His experience away from home in a game like this is always important. We’ve got a slight doubt about Chris Smalling – we’ll see what he’s like this morning. If he’s back we’re covered well for it."

It's not all good news, though. Nemanja Vidic, who suffered a calf injury in United's opening-weekend win at West Bromwich Albion, still
hasn't resumed training. "He's making slow progress. He's still having treatment."

Boss: Stoke are phenomenal

Stoke City may not be the most fashionable team in the Barclays Premier League, but Sir Alex has hailed their recent progress as “phenomenal”.

The Potters, famed for their direct and physical approach to the game, only won promotion to the top flight in 2008 and yet have never looked like relegation candidates. They’ve enjoyed 11th, 12th and 13th place finishes, reached last season’s FA Cup final and are now mixing it with some of Europe’s big boys in the Europa League.

“You can see the progress the team is making,” the boss said. “They’ve signed two or three players, they’re playing European football and they’re having a right go. They got through the League Cup tie the other night [against Tottenham] and every game they play they try to win. They have a great attitude in their team and their support is brilliant.

“I’ve never criticised it [Stoke’s style of play]. I think everyone plays to their strengths and that’s what they do. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.”

Despite the manager’s praise, Stoke City are yet to beat United in the Premier League in six attempts. They have, however, had plenty of success against the other big sides.

“The change in the league now is that middle division teams are taking points off the top teams,” the boss said. “Stoke have beaten Liverpool and drawn with Chelsea [already this season]. They're making a big impact.

“They also travelled to Kiev and got a result [in the Europa League]. I see Stoke becoming quite an important side. The progress Stoke have made over the last few years is phenomenal.”
