He has scored just five goals in 41 appearances for the Old Trafford club who, according to The Sun, are ready to make him available for loan.

It's reported United know they will struggle to sell such a high-earner and hope a loan deal will be more attractive to clubs.

Despite Sunday's defeat by Arsenal, Manchester United have shone since Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho and the interim boss is set to stay.

Sanchez missed that defeat by his former club with injury. He has been out of action after sustaining a serious knee injury against Southampton earlier this month.

The Chilean fears he could miss up to two months with ligament damage suffered on on March 2. He has spent time recovering in Catalonia, where he was spotted at the Nou Camp watching Barcelona beat Rayo Vallecano 3-1 on Saturday.

According to the Sun, the United-boss-in-waiting has been given a transfer kitty framed with a new centre-back in mind following the grievances of former manager Jose Mourinho about the position.

Mourinho lamented a lack of options at centre-half, regularly rotating between Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo and Victor Lindelof during his three-year stay.

Recruiting a new central defender would not come cheap for 20-time top flight winners. Napoli's highly-rated Senegalese stopper Kalidou Koulibaly has previously been linked with the club, but any move for him would likely require smashing the world transfer record for a defender.

United have dramatically improved since Solskjaer took charge at Old Trafford, initially going 12 Premier League matches without loss until Sunday's reverse against Arsenal at the Emirates.

The change in atmosphere at the club has evidently brought the best out of Smalling and in particular Swedish defender Lindelof, who has become a mainstay in the back-four.

Lindelof credited Solskjaer for helping find his rhythm for the first since signing from Benfica in 2017.

The 18-year-old is no closer to signing a deal with Chelsea and his current contract runs out in the summer of 2020, with no further substantial talks having taken place since January.

Hudson-Odoi has yet to start any Premier League games under Maurizio Sarri and before Christmas he received just 274 minutes of competitive game time.

He is now starting in the Europa League but Bayern Munich want him as an integral part of their team rebuild and have offered him Arjen Robben’s No 10 shirt, with the Dutchman leaving in the summer.

Chelsea would be unlikely to sell in the summer, especially to a Premier League rival, though they risk losing Hudson-Odoi, now one of the best-rated teenagers in world football and the leading light of their academy, for a nominal fee in 2020.

But England manager Southgate has said that Chelsea’s transfer ban might afford Hudson-Odoi the opportunities he desires and that his development can progress.

Southgate said: ‘If you look at number of appearances, he has actually been on the field quite a lot and I know how much faith Maurizio has in him.

‘He’s maturing well. His progress is good and, given that Chelsea could have a restriction on signing people, then his opportunities will come.’
