United's Patrice Evra: Manchester City can't play without Carlos Tevez

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has said that rivals Manchester City are nothing without talisman Carlos Tevez .

Frenchman Evra has turned up the heat ahead of Wednesday's derby clash at Eastlands, with Manchester City going into the game on the back of a disappointing run.

Tevez left Manchester United to join City last summer and instantly became a hit at Eastlands, scoring 21 goals last season. The Argentinian's influence on Roberto Mancini's side is underscored by the fact that he has scored a remarkable 28 goals in his last 32 league games.

Now Manchester United defender Evra has said that City are too reliant on Tevez, telling the Sunday Mirror, “City have spent a lot of money, but for me Carlito is easily the best player they have.

“They have other good players, but he attacks and defends.

“They couldn’t afford to lose him. He is a big player, the most important they have - and every single Manchester City player knows that.

“I am still very friendly with Carlos. We speak every day and he still comes to my house and I go to his, we are friends for life.

“Just because he went to City doesn’t mean I cut my relationship with him.

“City have a good team and they love to play Manchester United , so it will be a tough game.

“But I hope we can give our fans a great night because now the derby is very hot with usually a lot of goals.”

Manchester City travel to West Brom today, having lost their last three games. Tevez has been out injured since picking up a leg injury against Arsenal, but will return for the derby on Wednesday.

1. Berba jadi lone striker. Kadang brilian (Everton), kadang mati kutu (Valencia). Berbeda dengan Tevez yang mobilitasnya tinggi, Berba lebih lemah gemulai.
2. Nani yang blom dipastikan fit. Tanpa Nani rasanya kreatifitas United menurun, walau tidak jarang dia egois. Hanya rasanya peran Nani makin vital ditiap serangan United.
3. Pelapis CM/DM tidak ada. Hanya tersisa Gibbo dibangku cadangan klo seandainya 3 CM di atas diturunin semua, padahal performa Gibbo blom begitu bagus dan stabil.

Partai lawan citi rasanya makin vital karena selain terkait klasmen juga harga diri. Moga kita dapet hal yang positif besok.

As they only get one go per week at the big issues in football, the Sunday papers are often eager, some might say over-eager, to get their blows in first.

So it is not surprising that derby fever has been detected early in one of two places – though the symptoms are strangely contradictory.

Take the News of the World for instance where Patrice Evra, via Aidan Magee, tells us that Manchester derbies are not such a big deal.

‘The French defender is relishing Wednesday’s derby clash at Eastlands but doesn’t see it as more important than games against Chelsea or Liverpool,’ the author informs readers before quoting the defender thus:

‘We don’t think about Manchester City because they are not our problem. I can say City have a good team but we will see what they do. They game is no bigger than before.’

Not so says writer Steve Bates and United star Paul Scholes in the People.

‘It takes a lot to get Paul Scholes excited after 16 years at the top,’ declares Bates. ‘But he claims the Manchester derby has now become English football’s biggest game (are you listening Patrice?).

‘Wednesday’s clash at Eastlands is a showdown that will send shockwaves throughout the City and beyond.’

And to prove the point Scholes waxes lyrical to the scribe:

‘The derby still gets me going like no other game. There is no bigger club game than the derby and I would go as far as to say it is the biggest game in English football right now especially with the way City have been spending money to try and break into the top four.’

Amongst United’s players disagreeing over the importance of Wednesday’s sold out meeting of the neighbours there is the usual transfer speculation - both in and out.

Alan Nixon in a People exclusive - a sub-editors’ most overused word on a Sunday – reckons City are hot on the trail of Sporting Lisbon’s teenage winger Bruma. The other usual suspects are also apparently keen.

The Mail on Sunday, meanwhile, claims that Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano is being tracked by the Blues.

Whilst Roque Santa Cruz is widely predicted to be leaving.

Manchester - Bagi Roberto Mancini, krisis yang dialami oleh Manchester City telah lewat. Kini manajer City menyatakan skuadnya siap menghadapi Manchester United guna membidik posisi kedua.

City baru saja meraih kemenangan menyakinkan setelah mengalahkan tuan rumah West Bromwich Albion 2-0 di The Hawthorns, Minggu (7/11/2010. Ini menjadi kebangkitan City setelah sebelumnya menelan tiga kali kekalahan berturut-turut.

Kini rival sekotanya, MU yang akan menjadi tamu di City of Manchester Stadium, Rabu (10/11/2010). Mancini pun berhasrat skuadnya untuk meneruskan hasil positif tersebut guna membuka peluang baik ke peringkat kedua klasemen Liga Inggris.

"Ini sangat penting bisa memenangi pertandingan derby, kami ada di posisi yang sangat baik sekarang. Kami bisa mendapatkan posisi kedua mungkin setelah pertandingan," ujar Mancini seperti dilansir The Sun.

Namun, yang pasti Mancini senang dengan performa pemainnya saat mengatasi Wes Brom. "Kami memainkan pertandingan fantastis. Pemain saya sangat bermain sangat baik dan kami saja mencetak gol lebih banyak dari itu," ujarnya.

"Itu normal ketika Anda mendapatkan dua atau tiga kekalahan atmosfir tidaklah bagus. Namun ini penting bagi kami untuk terus bekerja. Terkadang Anda kalah ketika Anda tidak pantas mendapatkan kekalahan," tukas Mancini.
