Default Juan Guillermo CUADRADO Bello

Juan Guillermo Cuadrado Bello

Juan Guillermo Cuadrado Bello
(locally:*[ˈhwaŋ ɡiˈʝermo kwaˈðɾaðo]; born 26 May 1988), usually referred to as just Cuadrado, is a Colombian footballer who currently plays for the Italian club ACF Fiorentina in Serie A and the Colombian national team.

His pace and dribbling ability has allowed him to contribute greatly to both his club and national teams, while earning the reputation of one of world's most agile players.

Cuadrado is famous for dancing in various styles when celebrating a goal.

Club career

Early career / Independiente Medellin

Born in Necoclí, Cuadrado began his club career in Atlético Uraba. At Uraba, Cuadrado's preferred playing position was as a forward. However, due to the recommendation of club founder, Nelson Gallego, Cuadrado commenced to take on a midfielder role, preferably as a winger. Cuadrado's confidence and effectivity would later grant him ability to also act as a full-back. He later had a brief spell with no appearances at second division club, Rionegro, where he under the command of coach Víctor González Scott, but his potential was recognized by Juan José Peláez, who later proposed the idea of Cuadrado representing the colours of Independiente Medellin. He was eventually signed by Medellin in 2008, handing him the opportunity to play in the first division of Colombia. That same year, Cuadrado made his professional debut against Boyaca Chico, match where he would also score his first goal. Cuadrado lasted until 2009 at Medellin before making a leap into European football, most specifically the Italian Serie A.

Udinese
On 2 July 2009, Cuadrado signed for Italian Serie A side Udinese Calcio on a five-year deal. Nonetheless, the total amount of the transfer fee is unknown. On 1 November 2009, he played his first match for Udinese in a 1–1 draw with Chievo as a right wingback. In this match his countryman Cristián Zapata moved to a central defender and Dušan Basta who had been the primary right back was rested. Due to the fact that Cuadrado wasn't handed many minutes on the pitch, it was confirmed that he would be sent on loan to fellow Serie A team U.S. Lecce.

Loan to Lecce
On 3 August 2011, it was officially confirmed that Cuadrado would join Lecce for the 2011–12 season. He scored his first goal for the club against A.C. Cesena, the sole goal in 1-0 victory. Even though Cuadrado gave impressive performances, even being awarded as the player with most dribbling the whole season, Lecce finished 18th, thus being relegated from the Serie A. He later returned to Udinese to avoid playing in the second-tier of Italy.

Fiorentina
On 23 July 2012, Cuadrado completed a move to Serie A side Fiorentina. On 4 November 2012 he scored his first goal for the Florence club in a 4–1 victory at home to Cagliari. He finished the season with 5 goals and 6 assists, an integral part of a side that finished 4th in Serie A.

On 11 February 2014, Cuadrado scored Fiorentina's second goal of their 2-0 Coppa Italia semi-final second leg victory over his former club, Udinese, securing the Viola a 3-2 aggregate victory and a spot in the final.

On the 16th of June 2014, Fiorentina agreed a deal to purchase full ownership over the sporting rights of Cuadrado's contract from Udinese.

International career

After being transferred to Udinese, Cuadrado received a spot in the Colombian starting XI in a game against Venezuela on 3 September 2010, he was the man of the match and scored the opening goal and his first with the national side. Colombia won 2–0 playing well.

Cuadrado was called up by José Pekerman, for a friendly against Mexico on 29 February 2012 taking place in Miami Gardens, Florida. He started the match and scored the second goal for the Colombian team who won the game 2–0. He scored his goal after receiving a pass from Pablo Armero into an empty goal.

On 2 June 2014, Cuadrado was named in Colombia's 23-man squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. In the third group match, a 4–1 defeat of Japan, he scored the team's opening goal from a penalty kick.

Juan Cuadrado Transfer Rumours: Latest News and Speculation on Fiorentina Star

Louis van Gaal has hinted at a potential move for Fiorentina star Juan Cuadrado, by confessing he is concerned the price will be driven up if Manchester United declare their interest.

The Daily Star's Gary Jones reports:

Quote:
The fallen Premier League giants are understood to have offered a deal worth around £29m for the Colombia international, with Fiorentina now willing to negotiate a deal after becoming resigned to losing the forward.

[...]

Speaking after United's 3-1 Champions Cup victory over Liverpool, Van Gaal admitted he wanted to avoid questions about Cuadrado as it could increase the price needed to secure his services from the Viola.

Talking to journalists he said: "I cannot talk about Cuadrado, because if I say something about him the price will rise."
Juan Cuadrado's transfer away from Fiorentina may be dead in the water despite reported interest in the player.

The Colombian winger, a star during Los Cafeteros' impressive World Cup run, isn't attracting Barcelona enough for the Catalan giants to consider dropping €50 million on his services, as reported by Marca:

Quote:
It won't be easy for Barcelona to sign Juan Guillermo Cuadrado despite him being on Luis Enrique's most wanted list. Fiorentina aren't giving an inch and are asking for 50 million euros for the Colombian, an exorbitant figure that Barca won't be in a hurry to pay.

Nevertheless, the international isn't being ruled out and the club will keep trying till the very last. It mustn't be forgotten that Barca have the distinct advantage of having reached an agreement with the player.
Ben Jefferson of the Express believes Manchester United "are looking to trump Barcelona" while also suggesting Bayern Munich are considering a move. In contrast to Marca's report, Jefferson indicates all three clubs are willing to pay the player's fee, but Cuadrado's personal terms will decide his destination.

With United likely to offer the best set of wages, Jefferson also notes Cuadrado "prefers a move to Spain and has doubts about how his style will translate to the Premier League."

Of course, this problem of choice won't arise until concrete bids are made for the player. Fiorentina appear willing to sell to whoever offers the greatest fee and would be foolish not to cash in on the versatile star.

Cuadrado's main appeal stems from his ability to play on either flank, at right-back or through the centre, making him an extremely attractive prospect to clubs who wish to fill multiple voids.

Both Barca and United need defensive improvements. Cuadrado could easily slot into Luis Enrique's expected back four at the Camp Nou, challenging Dani Alves for a starting role on the right. He may even be used further forward to compensate for the loss of Alexis Sanchez, but Barca's wide roles are well-stacked with talent already.

Louis van Gaal would almost certainly use Cuadrado in the right wing-back position at United. The newly hired Dutchman's 3-5-2 formation has taken shape during the club's preseason tour of the USA, with Antonio Valencia filling the role well.

Cuadrado's pace and willingness to track back would be a major plus for the Red Devils, who could also use the 26-year-old on the wing. As noted by Elko Born of ESPN FC, this positioning could represent a mark of criticism against United's current wingers:

Quote:
LVG has basically said he'd need to buy some wingers to play 4-3-3. That's a pretty damning condemnation of Young, Nani and Valencia.

— Elko Born (@Elko_B) July 29, 2014
Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade previously indicated Cuadrado is due to start training imminently but that the club are continuing to monitor his situation, as reported by Sky Sports 24 (h/t Stefan Coerts of Goal.com):

"We hope that Cuadrado will continue to play for Fiorentina," said Prade. "There has not been an official offer for him. We are in constant contact with the player and his agent. He will return to the club on August 4 or 5. We will then talk with him."

Right now, it seems the lack of movement is, quite frankly, down to no official bids being lodged. The Viola may be forced to lower their price tag if interest continues without anyone meeting Cuadrado's €50 million quotation. Such a sum represents absolute top dollar for the player and would take advantage of his performances at the World Cup.

Cuadrado certainly has room to develop and may be hoping to move away from Serie A to do so. He has plenty to offer a Champions League standard side but would find it difficult to break into the Bayern team.

Both Barca and United represent smart destinations for an individual whose big-money move may be now or never.

Cuadrado to Man United: Red Devils being used to seal big wage at Barca?

Manchester United are involved in two of the summer’s biggest transfer sagas as they look to land Arturo Vidal and Juan Cuadrado.

The Red Devils have a fight on their hands if they want to land Colombian World Cup star Cuadrado, though, as Barcelona contemplate a move for the talented 26-year-old.

So is he leading Louis van Gaal on a merry dance? talkSPORT looks at the latest news…

Wing wonder turns down new deal
Fiorentina flyer Juan Cuadrado is set to turn down a new contract with the Italian club as he looks to land a move away from La Viola to either Manchester United or Barcelona, say the Daily Star.

Dutchman not so courageous
Meanwhile, Louis van Gaal has admitted he is worried about talking up Colombia star Juan Cuadrado as he feels his positive praise could lead to Fiorentina hiking up their asking price for the player.

Red Devils prepare the readies
Sky Sport Italia have reported Manchester United are ready to make a £31.7million bid for Cuadrado, who claimed four assists at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil. But it is believed they will have to hand over at least £39.6million to seal a deal.

Waging a war?
The Red Devils might not have it their own way in this transfer battle as Catalonian football newspaper Sport believe the player has his heart set on a move to Barcelona, where he will replace Dani Alves, and is using the interest of Manchester United to boost his wage packet at the Nou Camp.

Tp overall sih jadi makin bagus menurut ane mainnya, jadi agak greget aja kalo cuadrado masuk.

Tadinya prefer Vidal dibanding Cuadrado, untuk mengakomodir formasi yang diusung oleh LvG saat ini (3-5-2).
Tapi kalopun Vidal ga jadi, Cuadrado pun gapapalah.
Toh LvG fleksibel dengan formasi kok, yang penting prinsip maennya tetap sesuai dengan yang diinstruksikan oleh Sang Meneer.

Juan Cuadrado won't rule out Manchester United move as Fiorentina winger continues to attract interest from Louis van Gaal

* Cuadrado has been a Man U target since impressing in last year's Serie A
* The winger also impressed for Colombia at the World Cup in Brazil
* Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella has insisted Cuadrado won't be sold
* La Viola is said to want more than £30 million for their star player
* Cuadrado said there is still time for a move before the end of the window
* United are poised to sign Angel Di Maria for more than £60 million

Juan Cuadrado has refused to rule out leaving Fiorentina before the close of the transfer window amid interest from Manchester United.

The Colombian winger emerged as a target for Louis van Gaal and Spanish giants Barcelona following a fine season in Serie A and an impressive World Cup campaign.

La Viola boss Vincenzo Montella recently insisted that his star man would not be sold this summer, but the 26-year-old appears to think otherwise.

Not set in stone: Fiorentina's Colombia star Juan Cuadrado could be set for a move to Manchester United

Asked whether a transfer was a possibility, Cuadrado said: 'My future does not depend on me, there is still time until the market closes, no? I don't know...'

It is believed Fiorentina want upwards of £30million for their star man, but Montella is confident that the former Udinese star will remain at Stadio Artemio Franchi.

'He's been here in the past, he is here now and he will be here in the future,' he told La Nazione.

United hope to wrap up a deal for Real Madrid midfielder Angel Di Maria this week for a fee in excess of £60m.

Price tag: However, sources say they want in excess of £30 million for Cuadrado
