London - Lionel Messi mengungkapkan pandangannya mengenai Manchester United. Bintang Barcelona ini menilai MU memiliki permainan yang efisien. Lalu apa yang harus dilakukan Azulgrana untuk mengalahkan The Red Devils?

Dua tahun silam Messi menyumbang satu gol saat mengantarkan Barca mengalahkan MU di final Liga Champions. Kini Messi bersama Blaugrana kembali hadir di laga puncak kompetisi yang sama, juga dengan "Setan Merah" sebagai lawan.

Seperti dikutip dari BBC, peraih FIFA Ballon d'Or 2010 itu mengungkapkan pandangannya mengenai MU. Messi sendiri mengaku pengetahuannya tentang Wayne Rooney dkk. tidak terlalu banyak.

"Jujur saja, saya tidak terlalu banyak menonton pertandingan sepakbola, namun yang saya ketahui bahwa mereka (MU) adalah tim yang sangat kuat dan juara yang pantas untuk kompetisi liga yang sangat sulit," ujar dia.

"Saya sendiri tidak yakin di mana kelemahan mereka karena mereka sangat kuat dalam hal fisik dan tampil sangat efisien di semua lini," lanjut pemain berusia 23 tahun itu.

Messi sendiri tidak berminat untuk terlalu memikirkan lawan. Bagi dia yang terpenting adalah fokus kepada diri sendiri dan tim.

"Saya adalah salah satu pemain yang tidak terlalu memperhatikan lawan dan konsentrasi terhadap hal yang harus kami lakukan. Laga nanti memang merupakan one-off-game, namun kami tetap harus memikirkan diri sendiri."

"Kami semua paham tentang kapabilitas yang kami miliki dan itu telah kami tunjukkan di sepanjang musim ini. Kami hadir di final dalam bentuk terbaik, dan kawan-kawan siap untuk itu."

Gurita Peramal Jagokan United



MALAGA - Setelah Paul, kini muncul kembali gurita peramal anyar yang diberi nama seperti penjaga gawang Real Madrid, Iker. Sang gurita meramalkan kemenangan Manchester United saat melawan Barcelona di final Liga Champions, akhir pekan nanti.

Tepatnya Minggu (29/5/2011) dini hari WIB, United akan menantang Raksasa Catalan di Stadion Wembley, London, Inggris, demi memperebutkan trofi paling bergengsi di Eropa. Iker, seekor gurita dengan bobot 16 kilogram mencoba mengurai prediksinya.

Seperti dilansir Super Sport, Jumat (27/5/2011), gurita asal perairan Pasifik dirangsang untuk memangsa sardine dalam silinder kaca yang dihiasi gambar lambang United dan Barca, bertempat di Sea Life Aquarium di Benalmadena resort, provinsi Malaga. Alhasil, Iker memilih makanan dalam tabung bergambar logo Setan Merah.

Yang artinya, gurita peramal menjagokan United meraih kemenangan di Wembley, sekaligus menyabet gelar tim terbaik Benua Eropa di musim ini. Sejauh mana keakuratan prediksi Iker? Sejatinya, Barca tak perlu menghiraukan, lantaran ramalan Iker meleset saat menunjuk Madrid sebagai salah satu finalis Liga Champions.

Namun, prediksi Iker tepat ketika hasil imbang 1-1 El Clasico antara Madrid melawan Barca di La Liga pada 16 April lalu. Sebelum Iker, seekor gurita yang diberi nama Paul, sempat meramalkan sejumlah pertandingan di Piala Dunia 2010 lalu.

Gurita yang tinggal di Oberhausen, Jerman, tepat memprediksi kemenangan 1-0 Spanyol melawan Belanda di final. Sayang, Paul menghembuskan napas terakhir pada 26 Oktober 2010.

Gerard Pique and Javier Mascherano Must Contain Javier Hernandez


Eric Abidal might have made a recovery from a tumor in his liver, but it is unlikely that he will start in a match of such intensity and it is likely that Guardiola will go with the experienced Carlos Puyol in the left back slot. This means that it will be Javier Mascherano who will partner Gerard Pique at the heart of the Barcelona defense.

Up against them will be United striker Javier Hernandez. With Wayne Rooney dropping deep, it will be Hernandez who plays higher up the pitch for the Red Devils.

After an impressive World Cup, many expected Hernandez to have a positive impact at the club but no one could have braced themselves for the impact and importance he has had at the Red Devils. Partnering him at the heart of the defense is Pique, who under the wing of Puyol has slowly progressed into one of the world’s best centre backs and will be facing his former club on Saturday.

The two of them will have their hands full with the Mexican, whose pace and movement can create plenty of spaces. It will be essential that the two of them maintain their concentration throughout the clash and keep tracks of the constant running of Chicharito.

A single slip-up can be costly against a player of his quality and the two of them will have to work together to stick close to Hernandez and not allow him to stretch the defense.

Carlos Puyol's Experience Will Be Crucial in Handling Antonio Valencia


With Eric Abidal not ready, it will be Carlos Puyol who slots into the left back role. Barcelona’s critics often say that the team is incomplete without Lionel Messi but the reality is that Barcelona are a different team without their defensive leader, Carlos Puyol.

Puyol adds leadership and experience to the Barcelona back line and against Manchester United his experience will once again be called into use as La Blaugrana look to defeat the Red Devils once again.

Ever since making his return from injury this season, Antonio Valencia has been on a roll, as he has showed what a class act he is capable of being. He has not shown any kind of long-lasting effect from his dangerous injury and has been on fire, playing at a high tempo and using his searing pace to great effect.

This was evident when Chelsea took on the Red Devils earlier in the month in the title decider. Valencia went on to destroy Ashley Cole, who is widely considered the best left back in the game right now and left United fans wondering how valuable he could have been had he not been injured.

So on May 28th, United are expected to line up with a four-man midfield with Valencia, Park Ji-Sung, Ryan Giggs and Michael Carrick expected to make the numbers. It will be the experienced Puyol who will be dealing with the explosive Valencia in this match.

Puyol is a fantastic defender and has the quality to keep a tight hold of Valencia. It will be essential that Puyol is successful in keeping control of the winger. United are a team that thrives on the wings and love playing a wide game and giving the freedom for players like Valencia to roam is a recipe for disaster.

Valencia has the brilliant ability to deliver great crosses from the flanks and he manages to do this on a remarkably consistent basis, as he uses his pace to get himself into promising wide positions.

Puyol will have to be at his sharpest to deal with the threat posed by Valencia and does have the quality to come out on top.

But his contributions go further than simply containing the right winger. Puyol’s quality and experience in any position across the pitch means that he adds a certain steel and strength to the back line and as a result, the entire defense is vastly better in his presence than during his absence.

Sergio Busquets Must Contain the Threat Presented by Wayne Rooney


With Javier Hernandez in full flow, we have seen Englishman Wayne Rooney thrive in a deeper role, causing all sorts of trouble and problems with his movement and cross-field balls.

His tendency to drop deep means that it will be Sergio Busquets who will have to stay close to the English striker and prevent him from unleashing his creative skills.

Alex Song demonstrated how to silence Rooney in Arsenal’s triumph over United, as the Cameroonian defensive-midfield player shackled Rooney effectively and kept him silent for the whole match.
