Crystal Palace fan arrested on suspicion of throwing object at Man United star Rooney

A Crystal Palace fan has been arrested after Wayne Rooney had objects thrown at him during Manchester United's 2-0 win at Selhurst Park on Saturday evening.

The England striker was pelted with coins and a glass bottle as he took a corner in front of the Holmesdale Stand, which houses Palace's most vocal supporters.

A spokesman for the Met Police confirmed that a man was taken to a south London police station on suspicion of throwing an item onto the pitch.

The spokesman said: 'We continue to liaise with club officials and the referee over allegations of coin throwing at the match.

'We will continue to make further enquiries over the coming days.'
The Football Association have also launched an investigation to find the culprits and will push for bans for anyone involved.

Rooney handed the items to referee Michael Oliver and the pair had a conversation about what happened.

The FA are now compiling a variety of reports on the incident in order to establish which individuals are responsible.

They will build up a picture of events from the referee’s report, accounts from safety and security staff, steward reports, CCTV footage available and any other eye-witness accounts from staff at the game.

Anyone who is identified will face a football ban, which the FA would push for in any such instance.

Palace will work with the FA and assist them in any way they require, but declined to comment on the incident.

They are confident the stadium has sufficient CCTV coverage to pick up anyone who was involved.

The club are not expected to face any action at this stage, because it is not a repeat offence from their fans that they had failed to control.

The coin-throwing occurred just 24 hours after Rooney signed a £300,000-per-week deal at Manchester United making him the highest paid player in the country.

Rooney did not let the incident faze him and scored a sublime strike to secure victory – his first goal in five matches.

After the match, Manchester United manager David Moyes mocked the supporters who pelted his player, saying: ‘I don’t think it bothered Wayne at all. I don’t think that would be anything that would affect him.

‘I’m sure all those people who were throwing coins at him will be cheering him on in three months’ time at the World Cup.’

Pas menang 4 - 1 lawan Swansea, sebelum Rooney ngasih assist Welbeck terlebih dulu doi ngasih assist buat gol ke 2-nya RVP om Troy..
