[2014/15] League Cup (Capital One Cup) matches
13/08/2014 11:34 - ManUtd.com, James Tuck Reds await League Cup draw Manchester United’s opponents in the second round of the Capital One Cup will be revealed when the draw takes place at approximately 21:45 BST tonight (Wednesday). By virtue of finishing outside the European places in the Barclays Premier League last season, the Reds are involved at this stage for the first time since 1995, when Sir Alex Ferguson’s men were shocked by York City. United are one of 25 seeded teams and are joined in the draw by the other 12 Premier League sides who aren’t in European competition this term, two of the three*sides relegated from the top flight (Fulham and Norwich City) and the 35 winners from round one. Unseeded clubs will be subject to a pre-draw to determine a home or away match with United, number 11 in the pot, facing one of these clubs. Quote:

Re: [2014/15] League Cup (Capital One Cup) matches
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal given trip to Milton Keynes Dons in Capital One Cup second round
* United will travel to Stadium MK to face Karl Robinson's side * Ties will be played across August 26-27 * MK Dons did not exist the last time United faced a second round tie in the League Cup * Brentford host Fulham in a west London derby at Griffin Park * 2014 runners-up Sunderland to play Birmingham City * Southampton travel to Millwall and Newcastle travel to Gillingham * No Premier League sides drawn against each other Manchester United were last out of the hat as they entered the second round draw of the Capital One Cup for the first time in 19 years - and will travel to MK Dons. United have not been in this stage of the draw since 1995 - when they were famously dumped out by York - but are there this season after failing to qualify for Europe last term. Last season's beaten finalists Sunderland will face the 2011 champions as they travel to Birmingham. Settling in: Louis van Gaal will take charge of Manchester United in their first second round League Cup tie in almost 20 years Vital: MK Dons forward Daniel Powell (centre) celebrates scoring the winning goal against AFC Wimbledon in the first round of the Capital One Cup Gus Poyet's men lost 3-1 to Manchester City in last season's Wembley showpiece but will be confident of another cup run after last season's dramatic escape from Barclays Premier League relegation and a summer of recruitment on Wearside. League Two Burton, who created the upset of round one by beating Championship Wigan on Tuesday night, will face even higher opposition as they welcome QPR to the east midlands. Fulham will make the short trip to face west London rivals Brentford while West Ham will host a grudge match against Sheffield United who were relegated by the Carlos Tevez affair in 2007. Stoke will be heavy favourites to beat League Two Portsmouth at the Britannia Stadium although Southampton face a potentially tougher prospect with a trip to face Millwall. West Brom will welcome Oxford to the Hawthorns, Leicester play host to Shrewsbury and Burnley take on Sheffield Wednesday at Turf Moor. Newcastle will face a long midweek trip as they travel to Kent to take on Gillingham while Crystal Palace head north to face off against Walsall and Swansea host Rotherham. Quote:

Re: [2014/15] League Cup (Capital One Cup) matches
Capital One Cup third-round draw: Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all given home ties
* Manchester City begin defence at Etihad against Sheffield Wednesday * Arsenal vs Southampton, Chelsea vs Bolton Wanderers and Liverpool vs Middlesbrough among other home ties for Premier League big four * Crystal Palace vs Newcastle, Sunderland vs Stoke, Swansea vs Everton and West Brom vs Hull see Premier League teams pitted against each other Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool will start their Capital One Cup campaigns at home. City, who beat Sunderland 3-1 in the League Cup final last year, are to host Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday at the Etihad in the week commencing September 22. Eight-time winners Liverpool were given a similar draw as Middlesbrough make the trip to Anfield, while Bolton face a journey to Stamford Bridge to face Jose Mourinho's Chelsea. A tasty Premier League tie has been set up between Southampton and Arsenal, with the latter the home side at the Emirates. Quote:
Manchester United failed to make the cut after Louis van Gaal and Co were humiliated by MK Dons on Tuesday night, losing 4-0 to their League One counterparts. As a result, Karl Robinson's men will welcome fellow upsetters and League Two outfit Bradford to stadium:mk. Four other ties see Premier League opposition pitted against each other. Swansea City and Everton couldn't avoid matching, and will meet at the Liberty Stadium. Crystal Palace's new manager Neil Warnock will look to orchestrate a win over Newcastle United, while Hull City face a trip to West Brom. Gus Poyet admitted he was hungry for more after surviving Premier League relegation and making the League Cup final last year, and the Sunderland manager will have to see off Stoke City at home if he is to do so again. Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur are to face Nottingham Forest at White Hart Lane. Leyton Orient and Burton Albion, having both seen off Premier League opposition in Aston Villa and QPR respectively, earned their own home ties. Orient will meet fellow League One club Sheffield United, while Albion face tougher opposition in Brighton & Hove Albion. Code:
