OLE: OUR TACTICS WORKED

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was delighted with how his Manchester United side performed as the Reds reached the sixth round of the Emirates FA Cup by beating Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Two first-half goals from Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba were enough to advance to the last eight of the competition with the visitors defending well in the second half to keep the fighting Blues at bay.

Speaking to BBC Sport and MUTV after the game, the caretaker manager looked ahead to our upcoming quarter-final fixture away at Wolverhampton Wanderers, how his side set up to deal with Chelsea's defenders and previewed this weekend's mouthwatering Premier League fixture against Liverpool at Old Trafford...

OUR TACTICS WORKED
“The performance was fantastic, the tactics worked. Obviously we asked Ander and Paul, our midfielders, next to Nemanja to go a bit higher up and get into the box more often, with Marcus and Romelu wider. So we worked [on it] and the defending in the second half, when we had to, was fantastic. Chris has been out two months and just played one game and he was brilliant.”

THE BEST SUPPORTERS IN THE WORLD
“It seems like our fans enjoy away games. It was a fantastic performance from them as well tonight. I’ve got to say sometimes you want a home game but when we’re away we’ve got the best support in the world.”

AREAS TO WORK ON
“Chelsea are a good team. They've got their way of playing, which is hard to play against. I thought, defensively, Juan did a fantastic job in between Jorginho and the two centre-backs. Defensively, we were absolutely perfect. With the ball, we could have done better and kept it more in the second half and controlled it but, then again, we kept a clean sheet.”

THE IMPORTANCE TO BOUNCE BACK
“It's massive [the response after PSG]. An absolutely massive result. We had some criticism after the game against PSG as we didn't create a lot. Today was a tough, tough game and I have to say everyone, down to a 't', did everything we asked of them.”

FA CUP SIXTH ROUND OPPOSITION
“An away tie again, you know, we've had Arsenal and Chelsea so we hoped for a home game but that's it. Wolves away and we have to do it the hard way. They're a very tough team to play against.”

LIVERPOOL THIS WEEKEND
“The next game now is Liverpool and we have just got to focus on that one. It's a tough game going to Paris and having to win 2-0 but we did that tonight - we won 2-0. The league will be very important for us, of course, but a trophy is fantastic to end up with. The FA Cup is one of the best trophies you can win. I played in 1999 and we want to finish the season off with a bang.”

Chelsea 0-2 Manchester United PLAYER RATINGS: Paul Pogba showed real quality but shaky Marcos Alonso was caught out again for first goal

* Marcos Alonso has been criticised recently and lost Ander Herrera before goal
* Scoring one goal and making the other, the real Paul Pogba has finally arrived
* Herrera kept things ticking along as United controlled the midfield

Manchester United's Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba struck first-half goals to claim a 2-0 win that dumped FA Cup holders Chelsea out of the competition and secured a place in the quarter-finals.

It was a measure of revenge for United, resurgent under interim coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who lost to Chelsea in last May's Wembley final under their former boss Jose Mourinho.

Here, Sportsmail rates the players who took to the field in the fifth round clash on Monday night...

MAN UTD (4-3-1-2)

Sergio Romero - Double save early on proved pivotal as United went on to romp home. 6.5

Ashley Young - A typically combative display from the veteran. Lead by example at the back. Booked. 7

Chris Smalling - Missed with an early header but stood firm. Perhaps lucky not to concede a penalty in grappling with Rudiger. 6.5

Victor Lindelof - Brilliant block to deny Hazard in the second half. Another robust display from the improving Swede. 7

Luke Shaw - Diligent at the back and offered poise in attack. Slowly but surely fulfilling his potential. 7

Ander Herrera - Set the ball rolling with his free header. Kept things ticking along as United controlled the midfield. 7.5

Nemanja Matic - Held United's midfield together but lucky to escape a red card for two bookable offences. 7

Paul Pogba - Scored one, made one. The REAL Pogba has finally arrived. 8

Juan Mata - Not his most spectacular display, but the way he kept the ball provided United's platform in attack. 6.5

Ander Herrera kept things ticking along as Manchester United controlled the midfield

Marcus Rashford - A constant threat. His delivery for Pogba's goal was sumptuous. 7.5

Romelu Lukaku - Wouldn't give Chelsea's defenders a moments peace but didn't really trouble Kepa. 6.5

Subs: Sanchez (Lukaku 73); Pereira (Mata 76); McTominay (Rashford 90)

Not used: De Gea, Bailly, Fred, Dalot

Manager: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - A brilliant response from his team after defeat to PSG. Seems to have the magic touch. 8

Referee - Kevin Friend: Kept a lid on proceedings when they threaten to boil over. 6.5

MOM: Pogba

'It was a massive result': Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hails 'perfect' Manchester United display as his men bounce back from PSG loss to beat Chelsea and book FA Cup date with Wolves

* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer described the win at Chelsea as a 'massive result'
* Manchester United comfortably won 2-0 to set up quarter-final with Wolves
* Solskjaer was pleased with how his players responded to PSG disappointment
* Paul Pogba, who shined in the win, put it down to the trust he has in Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hailed Manchester United's display in the win at Chelsea and called it a massive result after their defeat in the Champions League last week.

'It was a perfect performance defensively,' said Solskjaer. 'The tactics worked well. I asked the players to defend higher up the pitch and they did.

'It was a massive win after the defeat by Paris Saint-Germain and the criticism we had.' Paul Pogba put United's victory down to the trust he and his team-mates have built up with interim boss Solskjaer.

Pogba added to Ander Herrera's goal with a header on the stroke of half-time and said: 'Ole trusts us and we trust him. We play to win trophies and he has come in to deliver that.

'Tonight was a beautiful win and a great performance by the team.' Former Chelsea striker and BBC pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink slammed his old team, saying: 'These are worrying times for them. There was no hunger off the ball, nothing.'

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer called Manchester United's win at Chelsea a 'massive result'

Ex-England captain Alan Shearer was critical of Chelsea's defending for both goals. 'Chelsea have played right into their hands and Man United have just picked them off.' he said. 'You can't give good players time and space.

'Jorginho is a good passer of the ball, when Chelsea go forward he is a positive but when they don't he is a huge negative because he doesn't smell danger. If Kante was in that position, that goal wouldn't have happened.

'We think the first cross from Pogba was great but this was unbelievable. Marcus Rashford just bided his time and picked out a terrific cross. It's terrible defending all over the pitch from Chelsea and poor goalkeeping as well but again it's a brilliant goal from a Man United perspective.'

next : Liverpool, bring it on, mudah2an anak2 Merseyside gak fokus karena akan berlaga di UCL, apalagi kalo kalah vs Munchen, memberikan tekanan lebih akhir pekan nanti di OT
