Re: Sir Alex Ferguson

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson
Fergie 'happy' with two-match ban
-Independent.ie- ALEX FERGUSON is set to forego an appeal against a two-match touchline ban and £20,000 fine after the English Football Association was accused of 'flunking' the Manchester United manager's punishment for questioning the fitness of referee Alan Wiley. Ferguson was handed a two-match touchline ban -- with two further games suspended until the end of the 2010-11 season -- plus a fine following a two-and-a-half-hour personal hearing in front of an FA regulatory commission in London yesterday. But that punishment has been described as too lenient by Alan Leighton, national secretary of Prospect, the union which represents referees, and of failing to support the FA's 'Respect' campaign. Leighton, a vociferous critic of Ferguson since the Wiley controversy erupted, had called for the United manager to be hit with a Uefa-style touchline ban, which would have also prevented him from accessing the team dressing-room on matchdays. Leighton said: "From our point of view it is disappointing. The Football Association had a chance to make a point and they flunked it. To question the fitness of a referee is to question his ability to do the job and his integrity. We don't think this is sending the right message out to other managers." Sources close to the United manager have described the Scot as "quite happy" with the outcome, despite the FA breaking with precedent by issuing a touchline ban for post-match comments. But while Ferguson has until 6pm today to appeal against the punishment, it is understood that he will accept the sanction and serve his ban during the Premier League games against Everton at Old Trafford on November 21 and the fixture against Portsmouth at Fratton Park the following week. |

Re: FA (Referee) vs United
Wiley could sue Fergie for defamation
-soccernet.espn.go.com- Alan Wiley could yet sue Sir Alex Ferguson for defamation after the referee union revealed it would discuss possible legal action against the Manchester United manager following comments that earned him a two-match touchline ban. FA bans Fergie for two games The FA this week handed Ferguson his ban, plus two further matches suspended and a £20,000 fine for saying Wiley "just wasn't fit enough" to take charge of United's 2-2 draw with Sunderland last month. Alan Leighton, national secretary for referees' union Prospect, said: "One of the things we are saying is, is there a case these comments are defamatory? I intend to talk to Alan Wiley to see if he wants to sue on the issue. "We need to take a few steps back and see what has happened here and I would like to see more about the judgement. We never wanted to get lawyers involved in but if referees don't feel they are being protected by the regulatory bodies and someone says something defamatory sooner or later someone is going to take action over it. "We are going to talk to the relevant authorities to see what it means for the future. I'll also talk to our members. I think there will be a concern this isn't an appropriate way to send a message that these comments were wholly unacceptable.'' Ferguson's ban means he will miss matches at home to Everton and away at Portsmouth. |

Re: FA (Referee) vs United (update: SAF banned)
Evans in referees blast
Defender unhappy with officials Last updated: 13th November 2009 Jonny Evans believes Manchester United have been getting a raw deal off referees this season. The Northern Ireland international feels the reigning Premier League champions have not been getting the benefit of some 50-50 decisions in recent games. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and a number of players were unhappy with a host of decisions given by referee Martin Atkinson during last weekend's defeat at Chelsea. United were aggrieved Atkinson awarded a foul against Darren Fletcher for a challenge on Ashley Cole in the build-up to Chelsea's winning goal, while they felt Didier Drogbapulled Wes Brown's shirt as John Terryscored the winner. Evans believes United are having to beat the officials on some occasions to get results. "We are usually quite good with referees," Evans told Sky Sports News. "I think there are a lot of teams that do a lot of playacting, but I don't think that's the case with Manchester United. "I think we do try and play fair and not many of us would roll around and try and cheat. "Sometimes the 50-50 decisions, that you would hope because of that would go in your way, have not been really going our way lately and I think that's what has maybe been disheartening a few of the lads, but that's football. "Sometimes you have got to beat the referee as well and that is what we are going to try and do." Code:

Preview MU vs Everton Hukuman Ditangguhkan, Ferguson Dampingi MU VIVAnews - Kabar gembira buat Manchester United. Sejak format berubah menjadi Premier League, MU hanya sekali mengalami kekalahan dari The Toffees di Old Trafford. • VIVAnews sumber : http://bola.vivanews.com/news/read/1...on_dampingi_mu ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- nih komisi wasitnya khilaf kayaknya yah...hehehe...baguslah... |
