Re: [Legend] Sir Alex Ferguson
Semoga segera pulih dan bisa hadir mendukung United di Old Trafford lagi
How is Alex Ferguson doing? Latest update on the former Manchester United manager’s health Jessica Lindsay Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is recovering from brain surgery, and many fans are wondering how he’s been getting on. The 76-year-old had a fall at home in Cheshire last month and was rushed to hospital. It is believed he had suffered a bleed on the brain, and was taken into surgery shortly after being admitted. According to his son Darren, aged 46, once he’d come round from the surgery he began to speak immediately. He apparently asked Darren, ‘How did Doncaster get on?’ Darren is the manager of the northern team Doncaster Rovers, and the team played Wigan on the day Alex fell ill. Unfortunately, he had to inform his dad that his team had lost 1-0 to Wigan, but was glad to see him fighting fit. A source told The Sun of the incident, ‘Typical Sir Alex. He can’t stop talking football.’ The source also said that the former Manchester United manager was joking about how upset he was to miss his beloved team face Chelsea at Wembley for the FA Cup final. It was reported this week that Sir Alex has now left hospital, and he is at home with his wife Cathy. He is apparently looking forward to watching the World Cup, and left a note saying thanks to the hospital staff who looked after him during his stay. Sir Alex is one of the most successful football managers ever, bagging United 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups and two Champions League crowns. www.metro.co.uk |

'Without those people who gave me such great care, I would not be sitting here today': Sir Alex Ferguson makes first public appearance since suffering brain haemorrhage to thank hospital staff in video message
* Sir Alex Ferguson made his first appearance since suffering a brain haemorrhage * The legendary boss has issued a statement thanking medics who saved him * Manchester United released a short video of Ferguson addressing the camera * Ferguson has admitted that without the care he received he would not be alive * The 76-year-old was rushed to hospital in May and was fighting for his life Sir Alex Ferguson has made an emotional vow to return to Old Trafford this season after battling back from the brain haemorrhage that threatened his life. Speaking publicly for the first time since he had emergency surgery in May, the 76-year-old former Manchester United manager praised hospital staff and well-wishers, saying: 'Believe me, without those people who gave me such great care, I would not be sitting here today. It's made me feel so humble.' Ferguson, a staunch supporter of the NHS, made his last public appearance on April 29 at Old Trafford when he presented outgoing Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger with a commemorative trophy. It is understood he had been complaining of headaches in the week before collapsing at his home on the morning of May 5. His family called for immediate medical help, with United club doctor Steve McNally playing a significant role in a quick diagnosis. Surgery was deemed a success but, although Sir Alex looks in rude health, his recovery will be a slow process. Ferguson has surprised friends and family with the nature of his recovery. He has been well enough to welcome visitors to his Cheshire home and engaging in conversation confidently on a range of his favourite topics: football, history and politics. Sir Alex Ferguson has issued a statement thanking people after his brain haemorrhage. The legendary boss was speaking publicly for the first time after taking dangerously ill. Ferguson admits that without the help he received, he would unlikely be alive to tell the tale Ferguson has been able to make occasional trips out for dinner with friends under the close watch of his sons, while regular rehab and physiotherapy sessions did not stop him following the World Cup avidly from his home. Voracious reading has helped keep his brilliant mind sharp, while football friends such as Peter Reid have been popping by for cups of tea and conversation. Ever the fighter, Ferguson would love to see United open the season against Leicester City on August 10 at Old Trafford, with a rapturous reception guaranteed. But the reality is that he needs to take steady steps forward on what will be a long road to full recovery. The legendary boss has said he will return later in the season to watch his beloved United. Following his hospital release Ferguson has been recovering at home watching the World Cup 'I want to thank the medical staff at Macclesfield, Salford Royal and Alexandra hospitals,' Ferguson said in a 48-second message posted on United's website. 'Believe me, without those people who gave me such great care, I would not be sitting here today. So thank you from me and my family. Thank you very much.' His former club Rangers and old foes Barcelona were among those to welcome Ferguson's video appearance on Thursday. 'The messages from all over the world, the good wishes do resonate very strongly with me,' he added. 'Thank you for the support you have given me. 'I will be back later in the season to watch the team. In the meantime, all the best to Jose Mourinho and the players.' Code:

SIR ALEX FERGUSON PAYS TRIBUTE TO DAVID MEEK
Sir Alex Ferguson has paid a personal tribute to David Meek, the former Manchester Evening News journalist and friend of the club who has sadly passed away. David covered the Reds for over 50 years and was a long-time United Review columnist, helping to pen the programme notes for every manager from Sir Matt Busby to Sir Alex, before retiring from his ghost-writing duties at the same time as the latter in May 2013. Everyone at the club is thinking of David’s family at this difficult time and Sir Alex has written the following statement: “I’m very sad to hear of the passing of David Meek, a well-respected journalist who served the Manchester Evening News with great loyalty and dignity. “David was an old-fashioned journalist who relied on the accuracy of his reporting and his connection with Manchester United stretched over decades. “His contribution to Manchester United's programme made my job easier as I relied on his ability to make sure that my words were exactly how I wanted them for every home match. My sympathies go out to his wife Liz and his family.” www.manutd.com |
