Manchester United travel to Bristol City while Arsenal host West Ham in Carabao Cup quarter-final draw

* Manchester United travel to Championship side Bristol City in the quarter-final
* Arsenal host London rivals West Ham and Chelsea will welcome Bournemouth
* Premier League leaders Manchester City face Leicester at King Power Stadium
* The draw was delayed by an hour and 45 minutes following a technical glitch

Manchester United will travel to Championship side Bristol City in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.

With all big Premier League clubs avoiding each other, Arsenal host West Ham while Chelsea face Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge. The final tie will see Leicester host Premier League leaders Manchester City.

The quarter-final ties are scheduled to be played on 19-20 December.

Reacting to the draw on his social media account, Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson extended an invitation to United manager Jose Mourinho for a post-match drink.

He wrote: 'Wecome to Bristol City Jose ... "pop in to the office for a drink after aye".

The draw, which was originally scheduled to take place at 4pm BST, was delayed by over an hour and 45 minutes following what was described as a 'minor technical glitch at Twitter HQ'.

A Twitter spokesman said: 'We're sorry for the issues that led to the delay of today's Round Five draw. We would also like to apologise to the thousands of supporters who had been patiently awaiting news of who their team would be playing.'

Manchester United, the defending champions of the trophy, made it into the hat for the quarter-finals after a solid 2-0 win over Swansea with Jesse Lingard scoring goals either side of half-time.

The Carabao Cup quarter-final draw took place at Twitter's HQ in London on Thrusday. The draw was pre-recorded and published on Twitter following a serious technical fault
Their noisy neighbours and Premier League leaders Manchester City had it far from easy as they required a penalty shootout to down a brave Wolves team at the Etihad Stadium.

Similarly, Arsenal looked set to exit the competition to lower league opposition at home as Norwich outplayed a lethargic Gunners before youngster Eddie Nketiah came off the bench to score twice to send them through.

Chelsea needed several stunning saves from Willy Caballero to keep Everton at bay in their fourth round tie while West Ham completed a stunning comeback to knock out Tottenham and possibly save Slaven Bilic from the sack.

Bristol City are now the only non-Premier League club left in the draw after an impressive 4-1 win over Crystal Palace while Leicester and Bournemouth continued their pursuit of silverware with 3-1 wins over Leeds United and Middlesbrough respectively.

* Chelsea have been draw to come up against Arsene Wenger's Arsenal

The semi-final clashes for the 2017/18 Carabao Cup have officially been decided following the draw at Ashton Gate.

Bristol City will go up against Manchester City, while Chelsea will face Arsenal.

The Robins pulled off the shock of the tournament when they defeated Jose Mourinho's Manchester United in the last minute, courtesy of a Korey Smith strike.

Bristol will feature as the away team in the tie, with the first leg at the Etihad Stadium to be played on the week commencing January 8.

The away legs of both fixtures of the draw will take place on week commencing January 22.

Giant killers Bristol City will face Manchester City in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup. Incredible scenes followed Bristol City's win over Manchester United at Ashton Gate. The Robins are now tasked with overcoming United's bitter rivals Manchester City

It wasn't plain sailing for Pep Guardiola's City to progress either, after enduring a nervy penalty shoot-out against Leicester.

It took a goal in stoppage time to get Chelsea over the line and into the pot for the semi-finals, too, with Alvaro Morata coming up with the goods at the death to see Antonio Conte's side put away Bournemouth.

Fresh off the back of his team's incredible win over United, Bristol City boss Lee Johnson was full of praise for the draw, which will task his side with overcoming the country's most in-form side.

‘It’s a brilliant draw,' Johnson said on Sky Sports.

'We've got to get over the overwhelming feeling of pride. They were absolutely outstanding and to beat Manchester United is incredible.

'(I'm) not just proud of the players’ personality but also their professionalism. I'm chuffed to bits.

'It’s a young group full of quality and they got their rewards… they will go down in Bristol City folklore. At times tonight we looked like the Premier League side. I can’t be more proud of the group,' Johnson added.
