Default Re: Dean Henderson

Dean Henderson 'will only sign new Manchester United contract if he's promised No 1 spot' as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer weighs up replacing David De Gea with promising English star

* Dean Henderson wants to be Manchester United's No 1 before signing a new deal
* The stopper has impressed once again on loan at Sheffield United this season
* He is due to return to Old Trafford this summer but doesn't want to play back up
* David De Gea had another bad night at Tottenham and is future is now in doubt

Dean Henderson will hold off signing a new contract at Manchester United unless he is guaranteed to be the No 1 goalkeeper next season, according to reports.

The 23-year-old has been outstanding while on loan at Sheffield United and helped the Blades mount an unlikely challenge for European football during their first season back in the Premier League.

His loan at Bramall Lane is due to expire this summer, with the clubs reportedly close to agreeing an extension so he can play for Chris Wilder until the season concludes, but talk has already turned to how he will feature for Ole Gunner Solskjaer in future.

David De Gea is United's current first-choice goalkeeper but a series of errors this season, including in last week's draw at Tottenham, have given Henderson hope he could usurp him this summer.

And according to Manchester Evening News, Henderson is only willing to put pen to paper on a new contract 'if he is promised the No 1 spot'.

It is claimed Henderson has already received several offers to leave Old Trafford again this summer but he does not expect to quit the club permanently.

However, Henderson is not willing to sit on the bench and play second fiddle to the Spaniard and does not want to be in the position of being sent out on loan every summer until De Gea leaves.

Solskjaer has admitted Henderson will become the club's main goalkeeper one day but United only agreed a new four-year deal with De Gea back in September.

Dean Henderson will only stay at Manchester United if he is guaranteed to be No 1 goalkeeper. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must decided whether or not to replace David De Gea with Henderson. Henderson has once again caught the eye while out on loan at Sheffield United this season

Chelsea and Tottenham have both shown an interest in securing Henderson's services. He has a contract with United until 2022 with the club having the option of extending it by a further 12 months.

Under the terms of his loan, Henderson is ineligible to play against his parent club when the Blades travel to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

Blades boss Wilder revealed on Monday he is confident the club can extend Henderson's loan deal until the delayed Premier League season concludes.

'I believe it's now just administration with the two clubs,' said Wilder. 'I had a chat with Ole and he was fine with extending his loan until the end of the season.

'Hopefully, that will get signed off before the deadline.'

Wilder continued: 'I appreciate Ole's help on that one. Dean has been great for us and we have been great for Dean.'

Bikin Blunder, Henderson Kena Semprot Ferdinand
Putra Rusdi K - detikSport

The Gunners unggul lewat penalti Nicolas Pepe di menit ke-25. Tuan rumah kemudian mampu menyamakan kedudukan melalui David McGoldrick di menit ke-87.

Arsenal kemudian memastikan kemenangan melalui Dani Ceballos di masa injury time.

Nama Henderson beberapa kali mencuat bakal menjadi pengganti David De Gea usai kiper asal Spanyol tersebut beberapa kali membuat blunder fatal.

Dean Henderson to stay at Sheffield United until the end of the season after Blades agree loan extension with Manchester United for goalkeeper

* Dean Henderson's loan deal at Sheffield United was set to expire on June 30
* Sheffield United and Manchester United have spent last two weeks in talks
* Henderson will now stay at Bramall Lane until the end of the 2020/21 season
* The 23-year-old has spent the last two years on loan with the Yorkshire club

Dean Henderson's loan deal at Sheffield United has been extended until the end of the season after the Blades agreed an extension with Manchester United.

Henderson's loan was set to expire at the end of June, which would've seen him return to Old Trafford before the end of the campaign.

But he will now remain at Bramall Lane, where he has spent the last two seasons on loan, and been one of their stand out performers this term.

Dean Henderson's loan deal at Sheffield United has been extended until the end of the season. Henderson was set to return to parent club Manchester United when loan expired on June 30. The 23-year-old has been tipped to replace David de Gea as No 1 at Old Trafford next season

The 23-year-old's form this season has seen him tipped to replace David De Gea at Old Trafford next term but his performances have dipped since football's resumption after the pandemic-enforced break.

Henderson was criticised for his performance in the Blades' FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, after failing to keep out Dani Ceballos' injury-time winner at his near post.

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand was among his critics and felt the youngster should've done better.

'I spoke about this a while ago, as a defender I would be very upset with the keeper there,' Ferdinand told BT Sport. 'I'm saying to the keeper, 'the front post, nothing goes through the front post'.

Henderson was criticised for failing to keep out Arsenal's injury-time winner on Sunday. He retains the backing of United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who has praised his displays

'The goalkeepers' union might suggest something different but when I was playing that was how I used to feel.'

But he retains the support of United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has tipped him to become the club's and England's No 1 in the years to come.

When asked about the prospect of Henderson replacing De Gea, he said: 'It's a different job to be playing for Sheffield United and for Man United, there are different, how do you say, he's got different roles and for me the two years he's had have been fantastic development.

'He's had to play with men, he's had to play against men, he's played in the Championship, and plays in a team that play fantastic football and exciting football.

'And as the stats show he's proved worthy of quite a few points. He's learning all the time, he's a passionate keeper that wants to be the best, he's developing, he's got good coaching there and, I've said it before, one day he'll be England No.1 and Man United No.1 and it's up to him to keep developing.'

Dean Henderson set for talks with Manchester United next week and the Chelsea target is ready to return to Old Trafford if he is assured of being first choice ahead of under-fire Spaniard David de Gea

Manchester United will hold talks with Dean Henderson next week as the pressure grows on under-fire goalkeeper David de Gea.

Henderson is ready to return to Old Trafford next season after two years on loan at Sheffield United if he is assured of being the club's No 1 keeper.

The ambitious 23-year-old has no intention of acting as back-up for De Gea, who is under scrutiny after another calamitous display in United's 3-1 defeat by Chelsea in Sunday's FA Cup semi-final.

Manchester United will hold talks with Dean Henderson next week about a return to the club. The news comes amid growing pressure on current first-choice goalkeeper David de Gea

It has put renewed pressure on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to drop De Gea, and placed a question mark over the 29-year-old Spaniard's long-term future at the club.

That could open the door for highly-rated Henderson, who will play his final game for Sheffield United on Sunday before his representatives meet Old Trafford officials next week.

They will discuss improving the £35,000-a-week contract Henderson signed a year ago to reflect his recent progress amid interest from Chelsea.

The two sides will also look at the England Under 21 keeper's next move because he hopes to challenge for a senior squad place at next summer's Euros.

Sheffield United want Henderson back, but he is keen to play at a higher level as long as he is first choice.

The prospect of replacing De Gea at United hinges on whether Solskjaer continues to support the former Atletico Madrid keeper or calls time on his Old Trafford career after more than 400 appearances.

Another obstacle would be finding a club willing to sign De Gea and match the £375,000-a-week deal he signed last September. That contract still has three years to run.

However, Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder was in no mood to discuss where Henderson would be playing next season after his side's defeat to Everton.

De Gea's error against Chelsea has put renewed pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to drop him. Man United will also discuss an improvement on Henderson's current United deal next week

'I'm not interested in talking about an individual tonight,' Wilder told Sky Sports, having seen Toffees striker Richarlison deliver a massive blow to the Blades' European hopes with the only goal of the game.

Several pundits have however called on De Gea to be dropped after his Wembley clanger.

Alan Shearer was the most vociferous first all, insisting on BBC One that the persistent nature of the mistakes means United must now put the Spaniard out of his misery.

United icon Paul Ince also laid into the 29-year-old for making 'schoolboy errors' and for having lost his hunger, while Kevin Campbell believes his mistake for Mason Mount's goal on Sunday should now open the door for Henderson.

Chelsea 'ready to hand Dean Henderson a £170,000-a-week deal if Manchester United don't guarantee him first-team football'... but goalkeeper will cost £55m as Frank Lampard searches for a new No 1

* Chelsea are keen to swoop for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson
* The Blues are on the search for a new first-choice stopper ahead of next season
* Henderson demanded first-team football at United before penning a new deal
* And Chelsea are now said to be favourites to sign the highly-rated 23-year-old

Chelsea are reportedly poised to offer Dean Henderson a bumper £170,000-a-week deal should Manchester United fail to guarantee the highly-rated goalkeeper regular first-team action.

The 23-year-old, who has enjoyed another successful campaign with Sheffield United, recently returned to Old Trafford and has demanded guaranteed game time before signing a new deal.

According to The Mirror, Henderson tops Frank Lampard's shortlist for a new stopper this summer with a £55million offer believed to be enough to snare him.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to tie down Henderson to a new long-term contract and provide competition for under-fire David de Gea, but is believed to still view the Spain international as his first-choice keeper.

As such, Solskjaer may be unwilling to offer Henderson the assurances he is hoping for despite De Gea enduring a season littered with high-profile errors.

Henderson harbours ambitions of breaking into the England team and is said to have told friends that, while he is 'desperate' to play for United, he is open to looking elsewhere.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still views David de Gea as his first-choice despite his string of mistakes. Henderson has impressed with Sheffield United and has demanded regular Old Trafford action. The ambitious stopper is believed to have told friends he is open to securing a move away

Chelsea would then be favourites to sign Henderson should they table a hefty offer.

Lampard remains unconvinced by current custodian Kepa Arrizabalaga, having dropped the £72m man for the crunch final game of the season against Wolves.

The same outlet suggest Henderson is his first-choice target for a replacement, with Tottenham also holding an interest.

The north London outfit will not be dragged into a bidding war, however, despit

Henderson, who has two years left on his United deal, kept 13 clean sheets from 36 games this campaign. Chris Wilder is understandably keen to flesh out a third consecutive loan spell.

But it is now believed that Henderson is keen to play at a higher level provided he is first choice.

Sportsmail previously reported that Henderson's representatives are set to meet Old Trafford officials over the coming days to reach an agreement over the ambitious player's future.

They will also hold discussions over improving the £35,000-a-week contract Henderson signed a year ago to reflect his progress between the sticks.

Diskusi Kontrak Dean Henderson di MU Masuki Fase Krusial
Kris Fathoni W - detikSport

Jakarta - Bagaimana kelanjutan Dean Henderson di Manchester United kini memasuki masa-masa menentukan. Diskusi kontrak baru disebut memasuki fase krusial.

Dean Henderson 'hands ultimatum to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he demands to become Manchester United's No 1 or be sold' after returning from impressive loan at Sheffield United

* Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson has no plans to be second choice
* The Englishman has reportedly handed an ultimatum to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
* Henderson is said to have demanded to become first choice or be sold
* He has enjoyed a stellar season at Sheffield United with Chelsea reportedly keen
* Meanwhile, David de Gea is under pressure after some high profile mistakes

Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson reportedly has no intention of being second choice at Old Trafford - telling Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to either make him No.1 or find him a new club.

The English shot stopper has returned to his boyhood club on the back of two impressive seasons with Sheffield United, and there have been calls for him to replace the error-prone David de Gea in goal.

The Spaniard has been United's undisputed No.1 goalkeeper for the last nine seasons, but according to the Sun, Henderson does not want to be his understudy and has told Solskjaer to let him leave if he cannot guarantee first team football.

Henderson is said to have admirers at Chelsea, who are having a goalkeeping crisis of their own after Frank Lampard became underwhelmed by the performances of £70million man Kepa Arrizabalaga and benched him for Willy Caballero.

The 23-year-old made 97 saves in goal for the Blades as they made a push for European football under Chris Wilder, as he also contributed with 13 clean sheets to help the team boast one of the best defences in the division.

He began his career at United and has been sent on on five loan spells - coming alive at Bramall Lane as the team won promotion in 2018-19 before gaining further plaudits this season and earning his first England call up in October.

Dean Henderson has reportedly handed an ultimatum to Man United over his future at the club. He is said to have told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make him first choice or find him a new club. There have been calls for him to replace David de Gea after some high profile mistakes

The spotlight was shone on De Gea after his glaring error in the 3-1 FA Cup semi-final loss to Chelsea, with the Spaniard allowing Mason Mount's tame shot to squirm under him.

And in December he was left embarassed after failing to keep a looping shot out of his top corner against Watford as he let in a weak bouncing shot - collapsing to the turf in disbelief.

United fans have been leading the calls for Henderson to be given a chance after becoming concerned at the 29-year-old's decline, but he will be eager to ensure he continues to enjoy regular action with the Euros on the horizon next summer.

The England No.1 jersey is still up for grabs with no obvious stand-out at present and 2018 World Cup starter Jordan Pickford out of form.

Solskjaer is plotting an overhaul at United and is closing in on the signing of Jadon Sancho from Dortmund in a deal that could exceed £100m.

But consistency from his man in the sticks should also be a priority as he bids to turn the team into title challengers next season.
