Re: [UCL] Man Utd 3-2 Bayern Munchen
United v Bayern Munich: Player ratings
MEN, James Robson - April 07, 2010 Van der sar: Virtual bystander for the first 40 minutes and was outstanding again when Bayern started to apply the pressure. But there was nothing he could do stop Robben's stunning and decisive strike late in the second half. 8 Rafael: Picked to cope with Ribery's pace, it was his foul on the Frenchman – his second bookable offence – that earned him a dismissal five minutes after the break. Before that he'd looked a significant attacking threat. 6 Ferdinand: Rarely troubled as United controlled early on, but at put through his paces as Bayern applied the pressure and could do little to keep them at bay. 8 Vidic: Went missing when Olic scored, but in general threw his body in the way of everything to help the cause. Like the rest of the United defence he began to look increasingly harrassed as the match progressed. 7 Evra: Handled Robben almost perfectly in the first half, but that wasn't the case in the second. The Dutchman orchestrated Bayern's fight back and scored a fantastic goal to seal it. 7 Gibson: Darron who? Bayern probably thought. And they will still be asking how the Irishman was able to let fire from the edge of the area after only three minutes to give United a blistering start. 7 Carrick: Seemed to be the scapegoat for the first leg defeat, but was part of a United midfield that totally dominated midfield in the first half. Should've done better to deny Olic his goal before the break and also lost possession in the build-up to Robben's strike. 6 Fletcher: Just like Carrick marshalled midfield in the first half to put United in control, but forced to play more of a defensive role as Bayern went in search of the winner after the break. 7 Valencia: Never more has he looked like Ronaldo's replacement. Gave Badstuber twisted blood with his constant runs down the right – setting up both of Nani's goals and tormenting Bayern's defence until Rafael's red card. 8 Nani: One of his finest days in a United shirt. Ronaldo would have been proud of his countryman's performance, scoring two and tearing holes in Bayern's defence. Less of a threat when forced to play as a lone front man in the second half. 9 Rooney: The stadium had their hearts in their mouths when he went over on his right ankle again. Didn't score, but his very presence lifted the entire United team and how they resonded. 7 SubstituteS: O'Shea: (Roooney 55) Forced to defend as soon as he came on 6 Berbatov: (Carrick 80) Too late to mark Giggs: (Gibson 80) Too late to mark Not used: Kuszczak, Scholes, Evans, Macheda Bayern Munich: Butt, Van Buyten, Demichelis, Lahm, Badstuber, Ribery, Van Bommel, Schweinsteiger, Robben (Altintopp 76), Olic (Pranjic 84), Muller (Gomez 45). Not used: Rensing, Klose, Contento, Tymoshchuk. Battle of the bosses: Fergie definitely won the pre-match mind games, starting with Rooney, but the biggest risk came in naming Gibson in midfield who paid him back. Could do little after Rafael's sending-off though. Referee: Nicola Rizzoli - Rafael sending-off seemed harsh 7. Att: 74482

Re: [EPL] Rovers 0-0 Man Utd
Blackburn 0 United 0: Player ratings
-manchestereveningnews.co.uk- Van der Sar - A virtual spectator. Barely had a save to make, but put the defence at ease, claiming everything in the air. 7 Neville - Recalled after missing Wednesday’s Champions League exit. Rarely troubled and always looking to create in attack. Set Berbatov up with one of United’s best chances. 7 Ferdinand - His broken finger was stomach turning, but he shrugged it off and put in an imperious display at the back. 7 Vidic - Dominant in the air and had to be given Rovers’ aerial threat. Commanding, but it wasn’t enough to inspire the players ahead of him. 7 O’Shea - Good to see the Irishman back, playing on the left of defence in place of Patrice Evra, looked as comfortable as ever. 7 Valencia - Had United’s two best chances in the first half and certainly should have done better when one on one with Robinson just before the break. 6 Scholes - Sprayed the ball around as he always does, but rarely found a way through Blackburn’s defence. 6 Giggs - Surprising choice in central midfield with Scholes, but stood up to the task well with some smart passes before replaced by Gibson. 6 Nani - Had one of those days. Numerous mis-placed crosses infuriated both Berbatov and Macheda. Too often shot when should have looked for the pass. 5 Berbatov - Cut a frustrated figure, bickering with team-mates over lack of service, for which he had a point. Great pass to set up Valencia in the first half. But missed a good chance late on. 7 Macheda - Deserved much better service. Nothing wrong with his runs or positioning, just didn’t get the service he required. 6 Substitutes Gibson (for Giggs 57) - Brought more muscle to the midfield but little else. 6 Park (for Macheda 66) - Gave United some extra spark, but couldn't make any real impact. 6 Evra (for O’Shea 78) - That he was called for when United needed a goal shows how little firepower they have. 5 Not used: Evans, Fletcher, Obertan, Kuszczak Blackburn: Robinson, Samba (Nelson 33), Givet, Emerton (Dunn 46), Grella, Perdersen, Nzonzi, Olsson (Diouff 70), Kalinic, Salgado, Jones Not used: Brown, Roberts, Andrews, Di Santo Referee: Peter Walton (Northants) 7/10 Controlled things well

United 3 Tottenham 1: Player ratings
-manchestereveningnews.co.uk- Van der Sar: Could enjoy the sun because he barely had anything to do 6 Rafael: The double threat of Modric and Bale down his flank was quelled expertly 8 Vidic: Didn't allow any Spurs combo much of a sight of goal 7 Evans: Like his sidekick he dealt with any threat Spurs had 7 Evra: Throwing up on pitch but he ensured it was Spurs who felt sick in end with penalty 7 Valencia: Got the better of in-form Bale only a couple of times and nothing came of it 6 Fletcher: Tottenham's midfield aspirations were constantly broken up by the Scottish workhorse 8 Scholes: A quieter impact after his derby performance but it was solid enough 7 Nani: Saved his only dangerous moments until late but they were killer moments 7 Giggs: Cool as a cucumber from the spot twice. If nothing else it was a good selection 7 Berbatov: Inspired moments against his old club ensured Spurs were on back foot when he was in possession 8 Subs Carrick (sub Valencia 59): Out jumped for equaliser 5 O'Shea (sub Evra 67): Stopped Lennon 6 Macheda (sub Rafael 79): Key touch for third goal 6 Hargreaves, Brown, Gibson, Kuszczak not used Tottenham: Gomes, Bale, Bentley (Lennon 66), Huddlestone, Pavlyuchenko (Crouch 75), Palacios, Modric, Defoe (Gudjohnsen 55), Dawson, King, Assou-Ekotto Goals: United: Giggs 58,86 pens) Nani (81) Tottenham: King (70) Bookings: United: Nani (35) Tottenham: None Battle of the Bosses Redknapp had no killer end product unlike Fergie's selection Referee: Andre Marriner - On the spot when needed Attendance: 75,268
