Default Franck Kessie

Manchester United 'step up their interest in AC Milan's Franck Kessie' with midfielder able to hold talks over a free transfer from January - with the club 'identifying him as a potential Paul Pogba replacement'

* AC Milan star Franck Kessie can line up free transfers to foreign clubs in January
* Kessie's deal runs down next summer, placing several elite clubs on high alert
* Manchester United have once again been linked with a swoop for the midfielder
* With Paul Pogba's future also uncertain, Kessie may be signed as a replacement

Manchester United have ramped up their interest in AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie, according to new reports in Italy.

The in-demand Kessie, 24, is able to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January, with his deal set to run down at the end of the season.

His uncertain future has led to several teams looking to swoop in for him in the hope of sealing a bargain free transfer, with United believed to be one of them.

Bringing in a new player in the middle of the pitch may be a priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer because Paul Pogba might also find himself on the move.

Manchester United have reportedly ramped up their interest in AC Milan star Franck Kessie. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to have identified midfielder Kessie as a potential target. Paul Pogba may leave United on a free transfer, freeing up room for Kessie to make the switch. Kessie's contract at AC Milan runs down next summer and he can discuss free transfers shortly. It was claimed recently that Kessie has his sights set on a stellar switch to the Premier League. But Milan boss Stefano Pioli insisted he wants Kessie to sign a new contract at the Italian club

Pogba, who has enjoyed a superb start to the season, is able to walk away from his club for free next summer, and an extension may be unlikely.

As a result, La Gazzetta dello Sport, via Calciomercato, claim United have set their sights on Kessie, who could be recruited as a replacement for Pogba.

His wage demands may prove a stumbling block for some sides, however, with Kessie said to be demanding an €8million (£6.8m) salary per year.

Milan are only able to stump up €6.5m (£5.6m), well below the expected figure, meaning they are at real risk of losing one of their prized assets.

But this would not be a problem for United, who have a track record of splashing the cash on lucrative contracts in their quest for silverware.

And Kessie could prove to be a worthwhile investment. He has been a regular performer for Milan since joining them from Atalanta in 2017.

With 147 league appearances under his belt, it is little wonder that Kessie is also reportedly being tracked by Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham.

In a boost to each of the clubs, Kessie is thought to be keen on moving to the Premier League when his terms at the San Siro run down.

As reported by 90min, Kessie has snubbed the latest contract offer from Milan, with his heart now seemingly set on a high-profile switch to England.

He sees the style of play in the top-flight as a match for his own game, the same outlet adds, but Kessie would also have suitors elsewhere in the world.

PSG and Bayern Munich are both believed to made enquiries over him in the past.

For now, Milan are refusing to give up hope of keeping Kessie. Last week, head coach Stefano Pioli outlined his desire for the player to stay.

'I would like Kessie to sign,' he told the Italian media. 'The negotiations go on between the club and his agent, and I don't think it's the time to worry.

'With Franck, I only talk about matters relating to the pitch and I always see him as positive and serene, there are no problems.'

Barcelona 'battle with Manchester United to sign AC Milan's Franck Kessie', as cash-strapped giants eye a free transfer with the midfielder's contract expiring next year

* Barcelona have reportedly entered the race to sign AC Milan's Franck Kessie
* The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Man United in recent weeks
* Cash-strapped Barcelona are targeting Kessie as his contract winds down

Barcelona have reportedly entered the race to sign AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester United in recent weeks, with the midfielder no closer to agreeing fresh terms at the San Siro.

Cash-strapped Barcelona are targeting Kessie with the possibility of signing him for free in the summer of 2022, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The central midfielder is able to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January, with his deal set to run down at the end of the season.

The report claims that Kessie would not only meet Barca's requirements economically but also his profile and qualities on the pitch fit the bill to bolster their midfield ranks.

Barcelona missed out on signing midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum from Liverpool last summer, with the Dutchman deciding to join Ligue 1 giants PSG instead.

The Catalan giants find themselves in financial turmoil with the club recording a £409million (€481m) loss for last season.

It's no secret that Barca have been struggling amid the coronavirus pandemic but the full extent of their problems was disclosed last week. Barcelona's salary cap limit was also slashed by £246m to £85m.

Arsenal and Manchester United target Franck Kessie moves closer to AC Milan exit after 'snubbing fresh contract offer and demanding £7.7m to stay at the Italian club'

* Kessie in final year of his current deal and can sign a pre-contract in January
* AC Milan have reportedly offered €6.5m (£5.5m) a year but he wants €9m
* The 24-year-old midfielder has attracted interest from all around Europe

Arsenal and Manchester United target Franck Kessie has reportedly rebuffed a fresh contract offer from AC Milan.

The Serie A club have raised their offer to €6.5million (£5.5m) a year but the Ivory Coast international is holding out for around €9m (£7.7m) per year, according to Sky Sports Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

The 24-year-old has attracted interest from all around Europe including Manchester United, PSG and Barcelona with his contract due to expire next summer.

The central midfielder is free to sign a pre-contract with any European club in January which would set in place a move for the following season.

Kessie has previously attracted interest from Spurs with managing director Fabio Paratici having reportedly met with the player's agent George Atangana back in the summer over a potential move.

Back then reports claimed that Kessie had been offered a five-year-deal worth £128,000-per-week.

Milan though are refusing to give up hope of keeping Kessie, with manager Stefano Pioli outlining his desire for the player to stay recently.
