'They help me out a lot': Mason Greenwood praises Juan Mata, Dan James and Anthony Martial for helping him settle in as he pushes for regular spot in the starting XI

* Mason Greenwood has scored seven goals in all competitions for the first-team
* The Man Utd striker has impressed this season and is pushing for a regular spot
* United team-mates Juan Mata, Dan James and Anthony Martial have helped him

Mason Greenwood has praised the influence of three senior players in helping him settle in at Old Trafford.

The 18-year-old striker played the full 90 minutes in United's 3-0 win against Colchester United on Wednesday, and assisted a goal after scoring United's equaliser at the weekend against Everton.

Greenwood is pushing for a regular spot in the starting XI and after scoring seven goals in all competitions for the first-team this season, he has thanked Juan Mata, Dan James and Anthony Martial for their help and guidance.

Mason Greenwood scored on Sunday in Manchester United's 1-1 draw against Everton

'I sit next to Juan [Mata], Dan James and Anthony Martial in the dressing room so they are the main ones, who help me out a lot. But all the lads are really nice and helpful,' Greenwood told the United Review.

'Obviously, it's tough playing at the top level but it's good to have all the other lads helping you out on the pitch.

'It's like you never feel alone. If you make a mistake, it's okay because everyone makes mistakes. I would say all the other lads help you; before the game, they are geeing you up and everything.'

'Cristiano can score just as many with his left': Ole Gunnar Solskjaer compares Mason Greenwood to Ronaldo after Manchester United forward scores in win over Newcastle

* The 18-year-old forward smashed home his eighth goal of the season
* Greenwood scored in Manchester United's 4-1 win over Newcastle
* Only one teenager has scored more goals in Europe's big five leagues

Mason Greenwood was compared to the Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo as he was hailed as an 'exceptional finisher'.

The 18-year-old forward smashed home his eighth goal of the season with a stunning 36th minute strike from the edge of the area in the 4-1 win for Manchester United over Newcastle.

Only one teenager, Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho with 12, has scored more goals in Europe's big five leagues.

Forward Mason Greenwood smashed home his eighth goal of the season against Newcastle. The teenage forward smashed home a stunning strike from the edge of the area on Boxing Day

After the game United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hailed the youngster.

He told the Sun: 'There is not too many I can remember like him who has every single technique. He's not just 50-50 with both feet but probably 60-60!

'Cristiano can score just as many with his left and they are proper strikes. But Mason can curl the ball with both feet, he is an exceptional finisher.

'He has got the lot. He's young and has got a lot to learn, he knows that. He needs to head the ball like Marcus Rashford can.

'I don't think we are going to see the best of Mason for a couple of years. But I can remember when I was 18 but I was nowhere near the level playing at he was.

'Let the boy settle in now first before we talk about England and the Euros': Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says it is too early to speak about 18-year-old Manchester United starlet Mason Greenwood making Euro 2020

* Tottenham striker Harry Kane is in a race against time to be fit for Euro 2020
* Leicester forward Jamie Vardy is unlikely to come out of international retirement
* Mason Greenwood is being mentioned as a possibility for England this summer
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes he needs more time to realise his potential

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says it is too early to talk about Mason Greenwood as a senior England international amid talk of a surprise call-up for Euro 2020.

With Harry Kane racing to be fit for the tournament after undergoing surgery on a damaged hamstring and Jamie Vardy unlikely to come out of international retirement, Greenwood is being mentioned as a possibility for Gareth Southgate's squad.

The 18-year-old is enjoying a breakthrough season at Old Trafford after scoring nine goals in 26 appearances, and has only recently been called up for England Under 21s.

Mason Greenwood is being mentioned as a possibility for Gareth Southgate's England squad. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says it is too early to talk about forward as a senior England international

But Solskjaer believes Greenwood needs more time to realise his potential, saying: 'I think Mason will have a top and long career.

'Let the boy settle in now first before we talk about England and the Euros.

'His focus has to be on playing more for us, improving and when he plays more for us that'll happen by itself. He's just been picked for the Under 21s so he's focusing on his football.'

Solskjaer believes Greenwood needs more time before being called up by Southgate. He scored for England Under 21s in a 2-1 defeat against Holland in November last year

Solskjaer is happy with the contribution from his young strikers after Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial all scored in last weekend's 4-0 win over Norwich.

'I don't want credit, they're working hard to improve their game,' he added.

'They've all done well. Mason is in his first season, so to have nine goals is fantastic. Marcus is growing and improving all the time and Anthony has missed eight weeks.

'I'm impressed by them. They are working well on finishing patterns. We want consistency and we'll see more and more of them.'

Gareth Southgate set for clash with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as England manager considers Mason Greenwood for Euro 2020... despite Man United boss saying the youngster needs more time to develop before international call-up

* England boss Gareth Southgate is considering Mason Greenwood for Euro 2020
* His admiration for the United star has been made clear to the promising player
* But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes that Greenwood needs more time to settle in
* Southgate faces a dilemma ahead of the Euros with Harry Kane in a race to be fit

Gareth Southgate could be set for a clash with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over Mason Greenwood.

Earlier this week, the Manchester United manager declared that it was too early to talk about the promising 18-year-old as a potential senior England international.

Solskjaer called for Greenwood to be given time to 'settle in first before we talk about England and the Euros'.

However, Sportsmail understands that the young striker is firmly on Southgate's radar, and that the England manager's admiration has been made clear to the United youngster.

Southgate is facing a selection dilemma with his strikers ahead of the tournament, his options looking limited.

Harry Kane faces a race to be fit and Jamie Vardy has retired from international football, while the struggles of Bournemouth's Callum Wilson are causing significant concern. The form of Tammy Abraham is a plus, while Danny Ings and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have impressed for Southampton and Everton respectively.

Ole Gunnar Solskajer has urged calm over Mason Greenwood and believes he needs more time. But England boss Gareth Southgate is considering the star for Euro 2020 after his displays. Youngster Greenwood has excelled this season, scoring nine times for Manchester United

Greenwood has already scored nine goals for United this season — and a source believes that should he continue to gain first-team experience between now and the end of the campaign, he will be in the England squad.

'Gareth likes Mason and has made his feelings clear,' they said. 'He is a strong candidate to make the squad.

'Callum Hudson-Odoi was selected before he had even played a Premier League match for Chelsea — Mason has already played 20 times. They like everything about him, his technique, the lack of backlift when he strikes the ball.

'They are very keen and if he continues to get games and goals, it is hard to see him not making the cut.'

Speaking ahead of Wedneday night's FA Cup clash with Wolves, Solskjaer urged caution over the homegrown youngster, who has played for England Under-21s.

'His focus has to be on playing more for us, improving and when he plays more for us that'll happen by itself,' Solskjaer said. 'He's just been picked for the Under-21s, so he's focusing on his football.'

Default Re: Mason Will John Greenwood

Semoga Greenwood bisa tampil di Piala Dunia U-20 tahun 2021 nanti, masih cukup gak yach umurnya ?

Dear MU, Jaga Greenwood dengan Baik, Jangan Sampai Seperti Owen
Adhi Prasetya - detikSport

Manchester - Mason Greenwood tampil oke bersama Manchester United musim ini. Namun The Red Devils diingatkan untuk menjaga pemuda 18 tahun itu dengan baik agar tak bernasib sama seperti Michael Owen.
Greenwood sedang menjalani musim penuh perdananya bersama tim utama MU.

Level kebugarannya jadi menurun. Cedera berulang kali menghampirinya.

"Lihatlah Michael Owen dulu. Dia muncul sebagai wonderkid, ekspektasi publik pun besar, dan dia bermain terlalu sering sejak muda. Saya pikir itulah faktor utama mengapa ia akhirnya mengalami cedera parah yang membuat penampilannya menurun."

"Hal tersebut merupakan contoh yang baik agar kesalahan serupa tak terulang pada Mason. Jadi jagalah ia dengan baik," tutup Ferdinand.

Mason Greenwood keeps business in the family as Manchester United starlet opts to be represented by his father after snubbing advances from top agencies

* Mason Greenwood has rejected approaches to be represented by top agencies
* The Manchester United youngster will remain with his father going forward
* Agencies had come forward long before he broke through in the first team
* Greenwood Snr negotiated his son's first professional contract and Nike deal

Mason Greenwood has rebuffed approaches from the country’s top agencies to remain represented by his father.

Sportsmail understands a host of stellar names had enquired about taking on the Manchester United striker’s interests long before he shot to prominence last year.

The teenager’s 10 goals in his first full season at senior level have done nothing to suppress the excitement about his burgeoning career but Greenwood has so far kept business matters within his family.

Mason Greenwood has snubbed top agencies and will be represented by his father. The youngster has attracted interest since bursting onto the scene under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Greenwood Snr negotiated his son’s first professional contract in 2018 as well as the improved terms of a new four-year agreement last October and a boot deal with Nike.

Should his status at United continue to rise and the 18-year-old keeps scoring, United would likely sit down to discuss a fresh deal long before the current contract ends in 2023. The Greenwood family are believed to have a strong relationship with the club.

Greenwood is beginning to establish himself within the England set-up, scoring his first Under 21 goal during a friendly defeat in Holland in November.

For now, he looks set to remain looked after by his father, with family representation becoming more common in the Premier League.

At United, both Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard are two who list family members as their agents.

United summer transfer target Jude Bellingham, the 16-year-old Birmingham City midfielder, has his affairs taken care of by family. At Manchester City, both academy products Tosin Adarabioyo and Tommy Doyle operate under similar arrangements.

'Oh yeah… can it be 6x100m?': Mason Greenwood FORGETS to include Manchester United speedster Daniel James when asked to name his Old Trafford 4x100m sprint team

* Mason Grenwood has burst onto the scene at Manchester United this season
* The 18-year-old forward has notched 10 goals in 32 appearances this campaign
* But he humourously forgot to include Daniel James as one of their fast players
* United are on their winter break in Marbella before facing Chelsea next Monday

Mason Greenwood has given his verdict on the four fastest players at Manchester United - but forgot to include speedster Daniel James among the contenders.

The 18-year-old Manchester United forward has burst onto the first-team scene at Old Trafford this season, scoring 10 goals in 32 appearances.

Greenwood's rise has been relentless given Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez's departures from United in the summer, while Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have suffered with injuries at various points of the campaign.

Mason Greenwood comically forgot to include Daniel James among the club's fastest players. The 18-year-old Manchester United forward has scored 10 goals in 32 appearances this season

However, now as a key member of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad, he was asked who he would choose to compete in a 4x100 sprint race, and he told Soccer Bible: 'That's hard because we've got some really fast players.

'I've got to have Marcus Rashford on the last bit, Brandon Williams too, he's rapid, Anthony Martial, and probably Diogo Dalot, because he's very fast as well.'

When prompted that he had forgotten quick teammate James, Greenwood quipped: 'Oh yeah… can it be 6 x 100m?'

James joined United in the summer from Swansea City for £17million and made a great start to life at Old Trafford, scoring in three of his opening four Premier League games.

But he failed to name the speedy James in his hypothetical sprint team from his teammates

However, the Wales international has failed to find the net since late August in his 32 appearances for United this campaign.

United's stars are currently in Marbella for warm weather training during their winter break.

Premier League action will then resume for Solskjaer's men against Frank Lampard's Chelsea next Monday at Stamford Bridge.

And the Norwegian could be boosted by the return of midfielder Scott McTominay, who has not played for the Red Devils since damaging his knee ligaments against Newcastle on Boxing Day.

'I want to be like him one day': Mason Greenwood reveals he wants to emulate Robin van Persie after former Manchester United striker joked that he was 'copying' him

* Mason Greenwood has enjoyed breakthrough season with Manchester United
* He is gaining experience and game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
* 18-year-old's play has drawn comparisons with former striker Robin van Persie
* He said: 'I'd like to be like him one day,' regarding the retired Dutch forward

Mason Greewood aspires to be at the same level as Robin van Persie one day at Manchester United.

The youngster has had a breakthrough season, playing more minutes than ever under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the first team.

Some have compared his style of play to Van Persie, with the Dutchman himself adding: 'I think he will be very good because during every game he tries to copy me.

'My style, my technique, my left foot, my way of finishing... so, I'm sure he will end up there [like me].'

Van Persie famously left Arsenal to join United and won the Premier League under Sir Alex Ferguson in the 2012-13 season.

And 18-year-old Greenwood has been flattered by the comparisons.

He told the Premier League: 'I like taking people on, doing skills. Obviously people think that I'm similar to Van Persie, so I want to be like him one day.'

Mason Greenwood has spoken of his desire to emulate Robin van Persie in his career. The former Manchester United striker thinks the youngster copies his style of play. The 18-year-old has scored 10 goals for Manchester United in all competitions this season

Greenwood has scored 10 goals in 32 appearances for United this season and his development is being carefully nurtured.

Cup competitions have been his primary outlet and the England Under-21 international has started just two Premier League games.

And rather than throw Greenwood into the deep end after Marcus Rashford's double stress fracture, the Old Trafford club added Odion Ighalo on loan.

He'll be fighting for a place in the side in United's crucial next game as they take on top four rivals Chelsea on Monday.

Default Re: Mason Will John Greenwood

GREENWOOD WANTS TO BUILD ON A 'MIND-BLOWING' YEAR

Mason Greenwood is hungry to score more goals for Manchester United this season, having already reached the tally he would have accepted in his maiden senior campaign.

The 18-year-old's cool penalty conversion against Tranmere Rovers, in last month's Emirates FA Cup victory, was his 10th strike so far in 2019/20.

He got off the mark for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men in the Europa League, in September's win over Astana at Old Trafford, and has also netted in the Premier League and Carabao Cup, as well as notching goals for England's Under-21s and for United's Under-23s in Premier League 2 and the Leasing.com Trophy. In other words, he has scored in every competition he has played in this season.

Greenwood reflected on all of the above in a conversation with MUTV's Mark Sullivan, when the pair strolled around the Academy building at the Aon Training Complex, and he explained how things have “happened really quickly” since his debut in the Champions League tie at Paris Saint-Germain almost a year ago.

“Everything has been quick and I've had to take everything on board really and to listen to what the manager and the other players have to say,” Greenwood told us.

“It's been a hard journey and I'm nowhere near where I want to be yet. I'll carry on working hard and keep going.

“But if someone said to me at the start of the season, you'll score 10 goals for Manchester United in your first season, I would have taken it straight away. I've done that now and I want more.”

When asked which area of his game he most needs to work on, the teenager replied: “Headed goals. I only scored three or four in the youth team.

“I've not scored one in the first team and it'd be nice to get one this season.

“If I work on my heading, it would probably get me two or three extra goals a season so, if I work on that, I can get more goals really.”

Mason feels his first-team manager is the perfect role model to learn from, when it comes to hitting the back of the net.

“Ole is a major part,” added Greenwood. “He has done it himself and knows what is he is talking about. Everyone listens to him. He helps me a lot. Obviously, Kieran [McKenna] as well. I was with him in my first season in the youth team and now he's with the first team.”

The youngster is clearly living the dream, representing the club he has always supported and parading his talents on the big stage.

“It's mind-blowing really,“ he said. “Being in the Manchester United first-team dressing room and stepping out at Old Trafford.

“I can't explain it really. It's just amazing. You see me smile when I score. It's out of this world.

“I want to make my mark at the club and score as many goals as I possibly can. I want to win trophies at United, every young boy coming up from the Academy does, so it would be amazing to get one of them soon.”

OLE: GREENWOOD WILL BE THE COMPLETE NO.9

Mason Greenwood can grow into one of Manchester United’s most complete hitmen.

That was the opinion of Reds' boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, after the teenager scored his 11th goal of the season in United’s 3-0 Premier League win against Watford at Old Trafford.

Greenwood's 75th-minute piledriver was his fifth league strike of the campaign, and no United player has reached that landmark at a younger age.

“He’s the best finisher we have and he’s one of the best I’ve seen,” Ole enthused in his post-match press conference.

“Right foot, left foot, it doesn’t matter. He’s just so sharp in and around the goal. He’ll never lose that goalscoring knack.”

The 18-year-old made a handful of appearances towards the end of the 2018/19 campaign, but has really made his breakthrough in the first team this season, playing 33 times.

Mason did come off shortly after scoring, apparently with cramp, and Ole believes it's worth reminding people that the youngster is still growing into his body.

“The whole season he’s had says a lot for him. He’s just going to get better and better,” Solskjaer added.

“He’s only 18, we’ve got to remember that. He’s still not fully grown in his body, he’s not like Wayne Rooney at 18. He still has a young body and in a few years' time he’ll be more or less the complete No.9.

“He’ll still fill out more but it will take a couple of years. Give him time because it’ll be natural. He’s 18 now and he’ll still fill out more: his upper body, his legs.

“He’s now starting to get a man’s body but it will take a couple of years because you can’t do that too early.”
