Paul Pogba can go: Jose Mourinho to let £89m star leave Manchester United ... with Anthony Martial, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian also set to be sold

* Jose Mourinho is ready to let Paul Pogba leave Manchester United this summer
* The United manager has run out of patience with the club's record signing
* Pogba is on a list of players who can be sold alongside likes of Anthony Martial
* Pep Guardiola revealed 11 days ago that the player was offered to City in January

Jose Mourinho is ready to let Paul Pogba leave Manchester United in a sensational move this summer.

Mourinho has run out of patience with the club's record signing and has included Pogba on a list of players who can be sold as he attempts to close the gap on new champions Manchester City.

The prospect of Pogba leaving Old Trafford two years after returning to the club for £89million has moved a step closer since Pep Guardiola revealed 11 days ago that the player was offered to City in January.

Pogba's relationship with Mourinho has deteriorated rapidly this season and the 25-year-old was substituted again in Sunday's home defeat by West Brom.

The Frenchman has been left on the bench or taken off in seven of his last 11 games.

It is not what United envisaged after re-signing their former academy player from Juventus in the summer of 2016, and Old Trafford chief Ed Woodward will be reluctant to part with such a marquee figure so quickly.

But Pogba has struggled to fit into Mourinho's system at United and has not produced enough performances like his man-of-the-match display in the Manchester derby.

It's uncertain whether he will be in the team for Wednesday's trip to Bournemouth or, more importantly, what is now United's biggest game of the season against Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.

Mourinho warned that he will not allow reputations or price tags to cloud his thinking for Wembley after admitting that some players had blown their chance by the dismal showing against West Brom.

'What is the criteria for a manager to choose a team?' said the United manager, who put Pogba on the bench for both legs of the Champions League tie against Sevilla.

Anthony Martial could also leave after growing frustrated with lack of first-team opportunities

'I only know one criteria. It's the way they play. It's the only way I can select players.

'Or do you want me to go for the price they cost, or their salary, or their beautiful face? The only way is to go with performance.

'If I play a player against Bournemouth and the player is phenomenal, he plays the semi-final. It's an opportunity for people to play and to try to get a place in the team for Spurs.

'Some of the guys that played today (against West Brom) don't have a place in that team.'

Pogba is by far the biggest name on a list that also includes Anthony Martial, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind.

kalo Pogba mau cabut mungkin dikasih, tapi kalo disuruh Mou pilih melepas Martial atau Pogba, mungkin Mou lebih memilih menjual Martial & memberi Pogba kesempatan lagi. 'kekurangan' Pogba cuma satu, tidak konsisten doank. kalo performanya kayak lawan City pas derby pasti akan jadi starter terus.

Mou bilang klo musim depan nggak beli pemain menyerang.

Anthony Martial and Marcos Rojo face uncertain future at Manchester United after being left out of squad to face Bayern Munich as Jose Mourinho stresses need to improve squad

* Anthony Martial and Marcos Rojo left out of squad to face Bayern Munich
* Both players could leave Manchester United before the transfer window closes
* Jose Mourinho is eager to bring in a new defender before Thursday's deadline

Anthony Martial and Marcos Rojo face an increasingly uncertain future at Manchester United after both players were left at home when Jose Mourinho's side travelled to Germany for their final pre-season game against Bayern Munich.

Martial has fallen foul of manager Jose Mourinho after leaving United's pre-season tour of the US to be at the birth of his baby boy in Paris and going AWOL for a week. The Frenchman returned to training at Carrington on Friday but was not included in the squad that flew to Munich on Sunday morning.

Mourinho wants to sell Martial and there has been talk of a swap deal for his old Chelsea winger Willian. But the Old Trafford hierarchy are keen to hold onto the 22-year-old former Monaco player, wary that he could embarrass the club by realising his potential at a rival club.

Defender Marcos Rojo is another candidate to depart United before the transfer window closes

Rojo has been identified as the odd man out among United's five centre-backs to make way for the new defender Mourinho wants before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

The Argentina defender returned to England after enjoying a post World Cup holiday, and has been in talks over his future. Everton are known to be interested in Rojo, who would cost in the region of £30million.

Time is against United, however, and it is feasible that both players could remain at the club. Mourinho has been linked with a number of defensive targets including Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld, Yerry Mina and Jerome Boateng.

A new centre-half remains the priority and Mourinho is banking on United chief Ed Woodward delivering one.

Jerome Boateng — a half-time substitute for Bayern here — has emerged as a serious alternative to Harry Maguire who is being priced out of a move by Leicester.

Talks are understood to have taken place between United and their German hosts on Sunday night over Boateng, who is valued at £45million even though he turns 30 next month. United would want to reduce that fee to nearer £40m.

Asked about Boateng, Mourinho emphasised the need for United chief Woodward to make a new signing.

'The other clubs that compete with us are really strong or they have already fantastic squads like Chelsea, Spurs, City, or they are investing massively like for example Liverpool buying everything and everybody,' said Mourinho.

'If we don't make our team better it will be a difficult season for us.

'My CEO knows what I want for quite a long time, I know he tries to do the best for me and I still have a few days to wait to see what happens.

Mass exodus: Manchester United are in danger of losing star players such as Paul Pogba should Jose Mourinho remain as manager at Old Trafford

* Manchester United's stars are waiting to move on should Jose Mourinho survive
* Mourinho has been under severe pressure after a terrible start to the season
* His side responded on Saturday as they came from behind to beat Newcastle
* But it is still understood that some aren't happy with how he has treated them

Manchester United risk losing their best players if Jose Mourinho survives for the rest of the season and the mood around the club does not improve dramatically.

The 3-2 comeback win over Newcastle on Saturday has raised hopes that Mourinho can turn a corner and keep his job at Old Trafford following a weekend of intense scrutiny over his future.

Another school of thought is it merely papered over the cracks at United that have been apparent for some time between Mourinho and some of his players.

Paul Pogba remains the biggest concern, with United’s record £89million record signing desperate to leave the club and join Barcelona as early as January despite being told he is not for sale.

The Frenchman has fallen out with Mourinho and been stripped of the vice-captaincy, although Pogba could still push for a move to Spain even if the manager is axed.

Luke Shaw is out of contract at the end of the season and it is understood the England defender has no intention of signing a new one if Mourinho is still in charge.

Paul Pogba remains the biggest concern, with the Frenchman desperate to leave for Barcelona

United have tried to instigate talks but Shaw has not forgiven the manager’s brutal criticism over the last two years despite reclaiming a first-team place this season.

Anthony Martial’s willingness to discuss a new contract in recent weeks is thought to be on the basis that he believes the Portuguese coach will not be at United much longer.

Martial has been at odds with Mourinho and was fined for going AWOL from the tour of the US in July. Both player and manager were open to a move this summer but the club’s hierarchy would not consider it. Martial’s contract runs out at the end of this season although United will trigger a 12-month extension if the 22-year-old does not agree new terms.

Quote:
10 WHO COULD LEAVE

Paul Pogba

Luke Shaw

Anthony Martial

David de Gea

Eric Bailly

Antonio Valencia

Juan Mata

Ander Herrera

Ashley Young

Phil Jones

Luke Shaw is out of contract in the summer and has no intention of staying if Mourinho does

David de Gea is in the same situation and there are growing concerns over his reluctance to sign a new deal. United chief Ed Woodward met with De Gea’s agent Jorge Mendes, who also represents Mourinho, in London on Friday with the club believed to be offering a long-term deal worth approximately £275,000-a-week for a goalkeeper widely regarded as the best in the world.

But De Gea is understood to have concerns over United’s ability to challenge for major honours under Mourinho and is reticent about committing the best years of his career to the club. Despite the stirring win over Newcastle, United remain seven points adrift of the Premier League leaders having lost three of their opening eight games.

The club will also exercise the one-year option on De Gea’s contract to keep him until June 2020 if the two sides cannot reach agreement. However, they face being forced to sell both De Gea and Martial before then to prevent them leaving on free transfers.

Goalkeeper David De Gea also remains reluctant to sign a new deal with Mourinho at the helm

Eric Bailly is another player facing an uncertain future after he suffered the humiliation of being substituted 18 minutes into the Newcastle game with United trailing 2-0. It was a huge setback for the Ivory Coast centre back, who has only just started to work his way back into Mourinho’s plans following a fall-out towards the end of last season.

Meanwhile, captain Antonio Valencia was axed from the squad after endorsing a social media post calling for Mourinho to be axed and will consider his future in January.

Code:

Other players out of contract at United this summer and unsure over their futures include Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Ashley Young and Phil Jones.

Herrera would prefer to stay and sign a new deal but the club’s current terms have fallen short of his expectations and he has been offered a return to Athletic Bilbao in January.

Ander Herrera is eyeing a move away from Manchester United, David de Gea still hasn't signed... what's happening with Marcus Rashford? The 15 players with expiring contracts at Old Trafford

* Ander Herrera could leave Manchester United for Paris Saint-Germain
* The Spaniard's contract runs out this summer and has not signed a new deal
* Players such as David de Gea are using Alexis Sanchez's deal to improve wages
* There are some star names who need their contracts sorted out very soon

Ander Herrera has been left infuriated by his contract contract situation at Manchester United and it could see him leave Old Trafford for Paris Saint-Germain for free this summer.

The Spaniard is believed to to be looking for a significant increase on his current £80,000-a-week deal, demanding closer to £150,000 — some reports claim that number is nearer £200,000 — but United insist the deal must be fair to both sides.

The midfielder has just two months left on his current deal and talks have reached an impasse – and it is a trend which is becoming an ever-growing concern at Old Trafford.

Ander Herrera could leave Manchester United this summer on a free transfer to PSG

David de Gea is another seeking improved terms with just over a year left on his deal

In essence, this is a domino effect which began when United signed Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal last January. His hefty £500,000-a-week salary has pricked the ears of many United stars – David de Gea, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba all included.

One of the criticisms of executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been his inability to tie players down to satisfactory deals in good time, meaning the club are subsequently forced to fork out hugely inflated sums.

Woodward, for example, handed Marouane Fellaini a deal worth more than £10million a year to stop him leaving Old Trafford on a free last summer. It means players are now leveraging their contracts against the club to pocket higher salaries.

De Gea is another prime example. He is lauded as one of the greatest goalkeepers in the world and has been United's prized asset in recent years. He will enter the final year of his contract when next season begins after the club elected to activate his option year.

Should they want to keep hold of the No 1, however, he will have to be remunerated with a huge pay packet – he is pushing to become the highest-paid player at the club.

United have bought themselves more time, however, by triggering that 12-month option to, but that appears to be nothing more than a stopgap until the Spaniard comes back with demands of massively improved terms on a new deal.

Quote:
THE CLOCK IS TICKING FOR THESE UTD STARS

David de Gea, 2020

Lee Grant, 2020

Dean Henderson, 2020

Eric Bailly, 2020

Ashley Young, 2020

Axel Tuanzebe, 2020

Timothy Fosu-Mensah, 2020

Nemanja Matic, 2020

Andreas Pereira, 2020

Marcus Rashford, 2020

Juan Mata, 2019

Ander Herrera, 2019

Antonio Valencia, 2019

Matteo Darmian, 2019

James Wilson, 2019

Signing Alexis Sanchez on £500,000 a week has prompted others to demand higher wages

Striker Marcus Rashford sees his deal expire next year and will undoubtedly ask for a pay rise

With De Gea currently sitting on a £200,000 weekly salary, United will have to part with a further £300,000 every week should he demand parity with Sanchez's pay.

United striker Rashford's contract also runs out next June but, crucially, the club have the option to extend for a further year.

He will then undoubtedly feel in a position whereby he, along with Pogba whose contract is up in 2021, can push for a big improvement on his comparatively miserly £75,000-a-week deal.

He is reportedly already looking to double that number but should he continue on his upward trajectory, his reputation as one of England's finest emerging talents will only grow in the next 12 months – as will his demands.

Juan Mata is in a similar situation to Herrera as talks continue over renewing a contract that also expires in the summer.

Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian will both see their deals finish at the season's end and, given the emergence of Diogo Dalot and Ashley Young having a further season left on his own deal, it would not be a surprise to see either, if not both, of them leave on frees this summer.

James Wilson, currently on loan at Aberdeen, has no future at United and is expected to leave in the summer window, while fellow academy graduates Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Dean Henderson, Axel Tuanzebe and Andreas Pereira have just one more year remaining.

Some academy graduates like Andreas Pereira have just a year left on their current contracts
