Sampdoria's former Southampton striker Manolo Gabbiadini becomes second Serie A player to test positive for coronavirus

* Manolo Gabbiadini has contracted coronavirus, Sampdoria announced
* The striker becomes the second Serie A player to test positive for COVID-19
* All Serie A games have been suspended until April 3 due to the outbreak in Italy

Sampdoria striker Manolo Gabbiadini has become the second Serie A player to test positive for coronavirus.

Juventus defender Daniele Rugani was the first Serie A player to contract the pandemic, announced last night by his club.

But now 28-year-old Gabbiadini, who used to play for Southampton in the Premier League, has contracted COVID-19 and is in isolation - all Serie A matches have been suspended until at least April 3.

Manolo Gabbiadini has become the second Serie A player to test positive for coronavirus

A Sampdoria statement read: 'UC Sampdoria announce that player Manolo Gabbiadini has tested positive for Coronavirus-COVID-19.

'He has a slight fever, but is doing well. The club is activating all the procedures of isolation laid out in the rules.'

Gabbidaini, who is an Italy international, has also played for Napoli and Bologna.

Rugani, meanwhile, tweeted last night: 'You will have read the news and that's why I want to reassure all those who are worrying about me, I'm fine.

'I urge everyone to respect the rules, because this virus makes no distinctions! Let's do it for ourselves, for our loved ones and for those around us.'

Following the news, Juventus revealed they will implement the necessary isolation procedures, while Inter Milan confirmed they have suspended all competitive activities until further notice.

Bertambah lagi nih..

Terungkap! Ada Lagi 5 Pemain Serie A Positif Virus Corona
Mohammad Resha Pratama - detikSport

Genoa - Teror virus corona di Serie A belum berhenti. Kini muncul lima kasus baru pemain terpapar COVID-19, empat dari Sampdoria dan satu dari Fiorentina. Siapa saja?

Serie A akhirnya dihentikan sementara waktu setidaknya sampai 3 April sebagai imbas virus corona.

SEVEN Serie A players now test positive for coronavirus including Juventus, Sampdoria and Fiorentina stars as illness continues to spread throughout Italy's top flight

* Players from Juventus, Fiorentina and Sampdoria have contracted coronavirus
* Serie A has been suspended since last Tuesday in a bid to stop virus spreading
* Daniele Rugani of Juventus was the first Serie A player to test positive for virus

Seven Serie A players have now tested positive for coronavirus as the illness continues to spread throughout Italy's top flight.

Five Sampdoria players, as well as a player apiece from Juventus and Fiorentina have succumbed to the virus and must now spend time in quarantine.

Juve's Daniele Rugani was the first Serie A player to test positive and since then Omar Colley, Albin Ekdal, Antonio La Gumina, Manolo Gabbiadini, Morten Thorsby and Dusan Vlahovic have also been affected.

Manolo Gabbiadini is one of seven Serie A players who have succumbed to the illness

The severity of the outbreak in Italy saw football suspended on March 11 by the Italian government and it appears unlikely that the game will resume in the foreseeable future.

Games had been played behind closed doors but pressure from players and the huge number of cases across the country forced the government to intervene.

At present, all staff and players from Juventus, totalling 121 people, are in isolation, including star man Cristiano Ronaldo, who is self-isolating in his homeland Madeira, where his mum is recovering from a stroke.

Ronaldo released a statement on his Twitter account on Friday urging his followers to take the necessary precautions to combat the global pandemic.

He said: 'The world is going through a difficult time and demands the utmost care and attention from everyone. Today I am not speaking to you as a footballer, but as a son, as a father, as a human being aware of the latest events that are affecting the world' Cristiano wrote this Friday on his Twitter account.

'It is important that we follow the recommendations of the WHO (World Health Organization) and those of governments on how to manage this situation. Protecting human lives is above any other interest,' he added.

'I want to send all my support to all those who have lost a loved one. My solidarity for those who are fighting the virus, such as my partner Daniele Rugani, and all my support for the incredible work that medical professionals are doing by putting his life at risk to save those of others, 'he concluded.

Serie A season could finish in mid-July as club executives outline May 9 return amid coronavirus outbreak

* Serie A clubs have devised a plan to resume the domestic season on May 9
* The integration of postponed fixtures would lead to the campaign ending in July
* 12,000 people have been infected in Italy over the last four days

Serie A executives have outlined a plan to resume the 2019-20 season by May 9, with all 20 clubs open to finishing the season in the middle of July.

It is understood all Italian top tier clubs spoke via video conference on Monday to put together a contingency plan.

Fixtures have been suspended until April 3 at present, but with the number of coronavirus cases rising throughout the country it looks increasingly likely that play will not be able to resume until a later date.

Serie A executives have outlined a plan to resume the 2019-20 season by May 9

However, reports from Italy suggest a Serie A return date of May 9 has been agreed in principle.

Clubs from the country's top flight are in constant communication and intent to speak again in the coming days.

Italy now has 27,980 COVID-19 infections, compared to 15,113 four days ago, and there have been over 2,000 deaths.

Ashley Young becomes SIXTH Inter Milan player to test positive for coronavirus with next weekend's derby now in doubt

* Ashley Young has tested positive at the Inter Milan's training headquarters
* The 35-year-old has featured in all three of the club's league games this season
* But now he has gone into quarantine after contracting coronavirus recently
* He joins team-mates Milan Skriniar and Radja Nainggolan in testing positive

Inter Milan have confirmed winger Ashley Young has tested positive for coronavirus.

The Serie A side confirmed the former Manchester United star is already in quarantine following Covid-19 tests carried out on Saturday at the club's Appiano Gentile training ground.

Young has played a part in all three Italian top-flight games so far this season for Antonio Conte's men and becomes the sixth player from the club to have contracted the virus in recent weeks.

There is now growing fear in Italy that the derby with AC Milan - that is scheduled for Saturday October 17 - may now not be played.

Conte's men are also scheduled to begin their Champions League campaign against Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach a week on Wednesday.

Young's team-mate Alessandro Bastoni tested positive for Covid-19 earlier in the week amid growing fear of rising cases in Serie A.

Bastoni was then joined by Milan Skriniar - a target for Tottenham in the summer transfer window - after the Slovakian Football Association confirmed his positive test on the eve of their victory on penalties against the Republic of Ireland in their Euro 2020 play-off semi-final on Thursday.

Inter Milan have confirmed winger Ashley Young has returned a positive test for coronavirus. The Serie A side confirmed the former Manchester United star is already in quarantine. Young has played in all three Serie A games for Antonio Conte's side in the 2020-21 season. Inter Milan team-mates Milan Skriniar and Radja Nainggolan are also positive. Italy's Roberto Gagliardini and Alessandro Bastoni have also contracted the virus. Goalkeeper Ionut Radu completed the list of Inter first-team members to have tested positive

A day later, the club confirmed Belgium midfielder Radja Nainggolan, goalkeeper Ionut Radu and Italy midfielder Roberto Gagliardini had also contracted coronavirus.

And should the Milan derby not go ahead it will cause further chaos to a league that is already dealing with cancelled matches.

Juventus' game against rivals Napoli did not go ahead after Gennaro Gattuso's men were prevented from travelling to Turin after first-team members Elif Elmas and Piotr Zielinski tested positive.

Meanwhile, Andrea Pirlo's men arrived at the stadium and even announced a starting XI before being informed that their visitors would not be arriving.

A decision on whether the game will be rescheduled is due from the Italian courts next week.

Last week the entire Juventus squad were forced to isolate after two non-playing staff members picked up the virus.

There are now genuine fears Inter's derby against Stefano Pioli's AC Milan will not go ahead. No Milan derby would be a blow to a league already dealing with Napoli's no show at Juventus

The news regarding Young comes just a couple of days after he stated he would be willing to walk from Italy if he had the chance to represent former club Watford.

'If I could go back and play [at Watford] again, I would walk from Italy right now because it's what I know, it's where I come from and it's what allowed me to be who I am and get where I am,' he told Watford's official podcast Golden Tales.

'It gave me a humble beginning.'

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku fined for a combined sum of £7,000 for 'unsportsmanlike behaviour with provocative phrases' during their Milan Derby bust-up in January's fiery Coppa Italia quarter-final clash

* Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku have been fined for their January bust-up
* The pair clashed in the Coppa Italia quarter-final between the two Milan rivals
* Both AC and Inter Milan have also been fined for failing to control their players
* Lukaku and Ibrahimovic were team-mates at Manchester United a few years ago

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku have been fined for unsportsmanlike conduct after the pair clashed during January's Milan Derby at the San Siro.

The pair of strikers, who play for AC Milan and Inter respectively, squared up to each other as tensions arose during the Coppa Italia quarter-final, which Inter won 2-1 after Ibrahimovic was later sent off.

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) said on Monday that Ibrahimovic had been fined 4,000 euros (£3,477), Lukaku 3,000 euros (£2,608), AC Milan 2,000 euros (£1,738) and Inter 1,250 euros (£1,086).

Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have been fined for the Coppa Italia bust-up in January

The pair had to be restrained the Milan Derby quarter-final clash on January 26 at the San Siro

The two former Manchester United team-mates exchanged insults during the match and Lukaku had to be restrained at the end of the first half after being left incensed by Ibrahimovic's comments.

Lukaku appeared to call the Swedish veteran a 'son of a b****' as well as shouting 'f*** your wife' while Ibrahimovic reportedly said 'Go do your voodoo s***, you little donkey' during the exchange.

Both players were fined for unsportsmanlike behaviour with provocative phrases, while the clubs were punished due to their responsibility for the conduct of their players. Lukaku and Ibrahimovic were also handed one-match bans in January.

The fight was typical of the close battle between the two Milan sides in Italian domestic football this season with a mural of the tussle painted outside the iconic San Siro ground after the match.

A mural of the fiery exchange between the two strikers later showed up outside San Siro. The pair of strikers were team-mates together at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho

Swedish striker Ibrahimovic insisted back in January that there was no problems with him and the Belgian forward, who both used to play in the Premier League for Manchester United.

The 39-year-old told reporters: 'If Lukaku came to Sanremo I would welcome him. There is no personal problem. What you do on the pitch stays on the pitch. If you want to come, you are welcome.'

There is no love lost between the pair, with the 39-year-old revealing that Lukaku did not take him up on a bet when they played together for the Red Devils.

'I will say this on Romelu: don't expect good technique from Lukaku', Zlatan told Gazzetta dello Sport. 'His best strength is sheer power. If only he'd listened to me...

'At Manchester United, we made a bet: "I'll give you £50 for every decent first touch you make." He replied: "What do I win if I get them all right?"

'I told him nothing, he would simply become a better player. For the record, he never accepted the bet! Perhaps he was afraid of losing.

'Joking aside, Lukaku has this mad hunger to prove himself to the world and I'm sure he will do well at Inter too.'

Serie A side Spezia Calcio given RECORD TWO-YEAR transfer ban by FIFA for breaking rules on signing underage players from Nigeria

* Spezia Calcio were found guilty of breaking FIFA's rules on the transfer of minors
* The club illegally signed 13 players from Nigeria, according to a BBC report
* The move disrupts new coach Thiago Motta's plans for the coming season
* Spezia's American owners say they had nothing to do with the transfers

Serie A side Spezia Calcio have been slapped with a two-year transfer ban by FIFA for illegally signing underage players from Nigeria.

Spezia were promoted to the top-flight last year for the first time ever and finished a creditable 15th but their bid to retain their new-found status has been made far harder by them being unable to register new signings.

However, they will be able to sign new players this summer, with the ban due to kick in from January 2022.

The two-year suspension is the longest transfer ban FIFA have ever handed out while the international governing body also fined Spezia 500,000 Swiss Francs (£393,000).

'The FIFA Disciplinary Committee found that Spezia Calcio had breached article 19 of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP) by bringing several Nigerian minors into Italy using a scheme aimed at circumventing the aforesaid RSTP article as well as national immigration law,' FIFA said in a statement.

'The protection of minors is a key objective of the regulatory framework governing the football transfer system.'

BBC Sport Africa reported that the club illegally brought in 13 players from Nigeria between 2013-2017.

The ban comes as a big blow to former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta, who was appointed as Spezia's new coach last week.

The club, which is based in the north of Italy and was bought by U.S investors earlier this year, said they would appeal the ban.

Spezia Calcio, who made their Serie A debut last season, were found guilty of signing minors. The transfer ban is a big blow to new Spezia coach Thiago Motta, who was appointed last week. Spezia's owners will appeal the ban and said the transfers happened before they took over

Spezia's American president Philip Raymond Platek said in a statement the club was 'surprised' by the ban and would launch an appeal.

'The new ownership had no role in the alleged transgressions,' he added.

'We will appeal and take appropriate measures to ensure that our team remains competitive in the years to come.'

Chelsea were handed a transfer ban in 2019 for signing underage players while Atletico Madrid received the same punishment in 2017.

Barcelona were the first major club to fall foul of the regulations and were given a transfer ban in 2014 although they managed to delay the ban, allowing them to make a number of key signings including Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic and Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Juventus 'could be RELEGATED to Serie B and STRIPPED of their last Serie A title' in an investigation for false accounting on transfer fees, says Italy's consumer rights watchdog

* Juventus could be relegated to Serie B as part of a false accounting investigation
* The Old Lady could get their 2020 Serie A title stripped from them as well
* Consumer rights watchdog group CODACONS said Juventus are being probed
* Juventus' offices were raided last week amid a probe into their transfer dealings
* The Old Lady were relegated to Serie B due to the Calciopoli scandal in 2006

Juventus could be relegated to Serie B and have their 2020 top-flight title stripped off them due to their investigation into capital gains, a consumer rights watchdog in Italy has claimed.

Over the weekend, the Italian giants' club offices were raided amid a probe into their transfer dealings and the club's profits from deals and agents fees between 2019 and 2021.

The Serie A giants have been accused of false accounting and CODACONS group president Marco Donzelli, who runs the Italian association for the protection of consumer rights, has spoken about the impact it could have on Juventus if they are found to have stolen an unfair advantage.

Donzelli was quoted by TMW: 'The accusatory system is very serious and throws a sinister light on the last football championships, also because there has been a real Juventus dominance in recent years, which ended in the past year.

Juventus could be relegated to Serie B if they are found guilty of false accounting, an Italian consumer rights watchdog has announced. CODACONS also claims Juventus could have their 2020 Serie A trophy taken away from them

'If Juventus were to have illegitimately gained an advantage over rival clubs with operations of this type, then the regularity of the last football championships would fail and, as a consequence, the Federation and the Authority for market competition will have to intervene and sanction those responsible.

'Beyond individual responsibilities, the club will not be exempt from punishment. For this reason and to protect thousands of fans, we will present a complaint to the Antitrust and the Federal Prosecutor's Office asking for the relegation to Serie B for Juventus and the revocation of the last league titles won in the shadow of these potentially illegal operations.'

Italian authorities took documents relating to transfers, invoices and financial statements from Juventus' offices in Turin and Milan, with six Juventus officials - including club president Andrea Agnelli and vice-president Pavel Nedved under investigation, as well as Juventus itself.

Pavel Nedved (right), Andrea Agnelli (centre) and Fabio Paratici are under investigation. Italian reports suggest that 42 transfers - including ones involving Arthur and Joao Cancelo are subject to investigation

Fabio Paratici, who was Juve's sporting director before taking up a similar role with Tottenham last summer, is also under investigation. A probe by Italy's football watchdog COVISOC and finance regulator Consob has already been opened.

Reports suggest that police are investigating profits grossing €50million (£42m) acquired in a 24-month spell.

A statement released by the Turin Public Prosecutor's Office read last week: 'Since (Friday) afternoon, on the orders of this Public Prosecutor's Office, soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza have been carrying out local searches at the Turin and Milan offices of Juventus Football Club Spa.

'The financiers of the Turin Economic-Financial Police Unit, delegated to the investigations, were instructed to find documentation and other useful elements relating to the company financial statements approved in the years from 2019 to 2021, with reference to both the purchase and sale of rights to the sports performance of the players, and the regular formation of financial statements.

'At present, the activities are aimed at ascertaining the crime of false communications from listed companies and issuing invoices for non-existent transactions, towards the top management and the managers of the business, financial and sports management areas.

'Under consideration there are various transfer operations of professional players and the services rendered by some agents involved in the relative intermediaries.'

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport claims that 42 transfers - including transfers involving Joao Cancelo, Arthur, Danilo and Miralem Pjanic, - are being scrutinised by authorities.

If Juventus were relegated to Serie B and stripped of their Scudetto title, it would be the second time the Old Lady have been sanctioned in this manner during the 21st century.

The Italian giants were demoted to Italy's second devision saw their Serie A trophies in 2005 and 2006 taken away from them in the Calciopoli match fixing scandal, after a phone hacking scandal exposed direct relationships between club officials and referee organisations.

The 2005 title was left unassigned while the 2006 trophy was given to Inter Milan as Juventus were automatically put in last place.

The Calciopoli scandal also saw AC Milan, Fiorentina, Lazio and Reggina caught up in the scandal but those clubs avoided relegation and only suffered from points deductions.

Fiorentina and Lazio were also kicked out of the Champions League and UEFA Cup respectively, while AC Milan successfully appealed their expulsion from the 2006-07 Champions League which they went on to win.
