Rooney scores in England draw


Wayne Rooney scored his 39th international goal as England drew 2-2 with Ecuador in Miami with Antonio Valencia being sent off in the 78th minute.

Enner Valencia planted a bullet header past ex-Red Ben Foster after Walter Ayovi was allowed too much time to produce a measured cross over Chris Smalling with only eight minutes gone. Roy Hodgson's men responded well with Rooney firing across goal following a neat backheel by Ross Barkley and then heading wide from a corner.

The United star did get on the scoresheet when netting from close range after Rickie Lambert hit a post and could only get a touch to the rebound from an Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain centre. Rooney punched the air in delight after being harshly criticised by sections of the media this week.

Rooney almost grabbed his second but he put Luke Shaw's disguised cross wide on the stretch and he also tested Maximo Banguera with a venomous drive. It was Lambert who did give England the lead with a powerful finish after a fine run by Barkley but Ecuador deserved a draw for their efforts.

Enner Valencia hit a post when it seemed easier to score, with Phil Jones clearing the loose ball for a corner, but a fabulous strike by substitute Michael Arroyo from outside the box levelled the scores. There was a flashpoint when Ecuador skipper Antonio Valencia had to hurdle a poor tackle by Raheem Sterling and the United winger responded angrily by grabbing the throat of the Liverpool youngster.*Both players were sent off by American referee Jair Marrufo despite the game's friendly status.

Rooney had departed to make way for Sterling on 64 minutes with*Jones and Chris Smalling growing in stature as the game wore on at the heart of the defence.*Danny Welbeck*came on for Lambert in the closing stages.

England's final warm-up friendly before the World Cup takes place against Honduras on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Tom Lawrence was left waiting for his senior Wales debut as he sat on the bench throughout the Netherlands' 2-0 win in Amsterdam. Chris Coleman made six substitutions but the 20-year-old was not afforded a chance to impress new United boss Louis van Gaal.

The hosts ran out 2-0 victors with Robin van Persie playing the first 45 minutes. The Dutch skipper forced two saves out of Wayne Hennessey and went close with a shot that whistled off target. Arjen Robben opened the scoring and set up van Persie's replacement, Jeremain Lens, for the clincher.

Itu berita baiknya, berita kurang baik Robin van Persie malah kena cedera paha.

Ada berita menuju baik ditengah keadaan gak baiknya Ox yang kena cedera, Carrick/ Cleverley bisa gantikan doi kalau benar ia cedera lutut parah. Keadaan Wilshere juga masih tanda tanya, 1 atau 2 pemain bisa menyusul 14 rekan yang sudah aman lebih dulu.

Reds set for final rehearsals


No fewer than 11 Manchester United players could be in action over the weekend as a host of nations complete their final preparations ahead of next Thursday's World Cup kick-off.

Shinji Kagawa and Japan will face Zambia at Florida’s Raymond James Stadium on Friday night (00:30 Saturday UK time). Alberto Zaccheroni’s men are unbeaten in five games, having drawn against the Netherlands and beaten Belgium, New Zealand, Cyprus and Costa Rica since qualifying for this summer’s tournament.

Javier Hernandez is set to meet his United team-mate Nani as Mexico take on Portugal at the Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts, where former Reds forward Cristiano Ronaldo is unlikely to feature through injury.

On Saturday evening, Marouane Fellaini and Adnan Januzaj should both play for Belgium when they face Tunisia in Brussels. The latter hopes to make his debut – again – after FIFA deleted last month’s 5-1 win over Luxembourg because manager Marc Wilmots made too many substitutions.

David De Gea and Juan Mata have travelled to Washington DC, where Spain will face El Salvador on Saturday for their final warm-up match before flying out to South America to defend their world title. Neither player is expected to start for Vicente del Bosque’s side, but they could make cameo appearances.

Also on Saturday, England will face Honduras in Miami with manager Roy Hodgson set to name his strongest team ahead of the Three Lions’ World Cup opener against Italy. Wayne Rooney*should start while Danny Welbeck,*Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are tipped for places on the bench.

On Sunday, Patrice Evra hopes to nail down his starting berth at left-back as France tackle Jamaica on home soil in Lille. The Reds veteran faces stiff competition from Paris St-Germain full-back Lucas Digne.
