West Bromwich - Wayne Rooney sampai saat ini memang belum menunjukkan performa terbaiknya. Namun bukan berarti Rooney akan "dilupakan" begitu saja karena ia seperti binatang kelaparan yang siap memangsa lawannya termasuk West Bromwich Albion.

Sejak cedera engkel yang menderanya April lalu, Rooney praktis tak bisa tampil seperti biasanya. Terpuruk di Piala Dunia, Rooney pun mengalami nasib serupa di Manchester United musim ini. Deraan cedera membuatnya sempat menepi lama dan akhirnya hanya bisa tampil 13 kali dan menyumbang dua gol.

Meski begitu performa MU sampai saat ini masih stabil di mana mereka berada di puncak klasemen Liga Inggris. Namun tetap saja ketajaman Rooney tetap diharapkan bakal kembali oleh para fans setia 'Setan Merah'.

Laga melawan WBA akhir pekan ini di Howthorne Stadium bisa jadi waktu yang tepat bagi Rooney untuk membobol gawang lawan kembali. Sebab WBA akan tampil tanpa dua bek andalannya, Gabriel Tamas dan Gonzalo Jara.

Kewaspadaan tinggi pun langsung dipasang oleh Steven Reid yang menilai Rooney tetaplah sosok berbahaya di lini depan MU dan tinggal menunggu waktu saja bagi penyerang 25 tahun itu untuk menemukan ketajamannya kembali.

"Rooney mungkin tidak dalam performanya seperti musim lalu namun ia adalah bintang yang berbahaya," sahut Reid di The Sun.

"Cuma persoalan waktu dia akan mencetak gol dari open play. Dia tetap salah satu pemain terbaik di dunia," lugasnya.

WBA sendiri bukan lawan yang mudah bagi MU sebab pada pertemuan pertama di Old Trafford akhir Oktober lalu, tim asuhan Roberto Di Matteo itu menahan imbang 2-2. Saat ini mereka ada di peringkat ke-14 dengan 22 poin.
