Re: [FA Cup] Man Utd vs Crawley
Yoi.... kalah ya tersingkir...
Line Up nya @bishop boleh juga tuh... full of brondong Carrick sebagai mami nya wkwkwkwk secara teori sih lawan Crawley cukup dengan skuad muda, tapi harus juga di-back up ama senior di bench..

Re: [FA Cup] Man Utd vs Crawley
United must beware the minnows
MEN, Stuart Mathieson - February 16, 2011 A shiver must have gone down the spine of a few players in United’s dressing room when non-League Crawley Town were paired with the Reds in the FA Cup fifth round. TV captured shots of the Blue Square Premier side’s delirious fans celebrating when their ball followed United’s out of the hat. It is the kind of David and Goliath clash the FA Cup feeds off, but the images from Broadfield Stadium probably weren’t replicated at Old Trafford. FA Cup scares against non-League opposition ahead of the Saturday tea-time clash with the West Sussex side at Old Trafford are fresh in the memory. The war of words is a one-way affair with Crawley’s vocal Glaswegian boss Steve Evans the first to fire off his shots. He warned that Crawley are out to “cause the biggest shock the world has ever seen”. Any riposte from United will be kept for the pitch – not surprisingly, because in these kind of situations the giants are on a hiding to nothing against the minnows. As banana skins go this may as well be spread liberally with grease. Six years ago Sir Alex Ferguson had his first taste of the ‘romance of the FA Cup’ that the big boys dread when Conference side Exeter City were drawn against United in the third round. The match was sandwiched between a Premier League match with Spurs and a Carling Cup semi-final first-leg tie at Chelsea. That meant Fergie leaned heavily on his youngsters and fringe players. In the end he had to say sorry to the Reds support as his XI put over 58,000 United fans in the 67,551 Old Trafford audience through the mill as they dabbled with total humiliation. “I apologise to the fans. They did not deserve that,” said a humbled Fergie after the part-timers had drawn 0-0. “In my 18 years at this club that was the worst performance ever in the FA Cup.” It damaged the career prospects of David Bellion, Eric Djemba-Djemba, Liam Miller, Jonathan Spector, Chris Eagles and David Jones. And it was sobering too for Gerard Pique, but at least he eventually became a Champions League winner with Barcelona! Not even the late introduction of Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Scholes and Alan Smith could spare United a lengthy journey to the south coast and a replay at St James Park. Fergie beefed up his selection with more famous names for the return and an early Ronaldo goal was countered by a forceful answer from the Grecians but a late Wayne Rooney goal saw United escape a cup shock. Twelve months later and United’s stomachs must have turned when another Conference side was drawn against them. In a classic FA Cup pairing, Nigel Clough’s part-timers took on United at their Pirelli Stadium. The Reds were glad to scrape a replay after another heart-stopping 0-0 stalemate as, once again, Sir Alex’s selection incorporated youngsters with the tie bang in the middle of a visit to Arsenal in the Premier League and another Carling Cup semi first-leg at Blackburn. The Old Trafford replay proved to be a cakewalk as the Reds stormed though 5-0. At least on Saturday Fergie will have had the luxury of no midweek game prior to the tie to consider but the Champions League is back on the agenda next week when the Reds travel to Marseille. So, despite dicing with disaster against Exeter and Burton, the United line-up won’t be a first-choice XI. But having bemoaned his inability to get Michael Owen much match-time this season the one-time European Player of the Year can expect to face Crawley. And Chicharito, Darron Gibson, Gabriel Obertan, Fabio and Jonny Evans could be asked to help usher United through to the quarter-finals. The Reds will hope for an afternoon akin to the one in 1949 when non-league Yeovil were thumped 8-0 or, a year later, when Weymouth were dispatched 4-0. Though the 1-1 home draw with Walthamstow Avenue, that Matt Busby’s mix of elder statesmen and emerging Babes experienced in 1953, is one the current squad would want to avoid.

Re: [FA Cup] Man Utd vs Crawley
17/02/2011 20:11 - ManUtd.com, Mark Froggatt
Match Pack: Crawley Town Non-league Crawley Town stand between United and a last-eight place in the FA Cup... Form guide This season, the much-fabled romance of the FA Cup has been well and truly restored by Crawley Town, whose series of upsets and giant-killings have seen them become the first non-league side since Kidderminster Harriers in 1994 to reach the fifth round. United also want to make some history by winning the competition for a record 12th time - and for the first time since 2004. A home draw bodes well: following last weekend's derby success, the Reds are unbeaten in 22 matches in all competitions at Old Trafford, a run which includes the third-round victory over arch-rivals Liverpool in January. Ins and outs Sir Alex Ferguson may shuffle his pack and rest key players ahead of next Wednesday's Champions League last-16 trip to Marseille. In the previous round at Southampton, he made eight team changes from the preceding league game - these alterations included a debut for Anders Lindegaard and the Dane could make his second start on Saturday. Ji-Sung Park (hamstring) and Rio Ferdinand (calf) are both unavailable. Star player Since signing for Crawley Town last summer, Matt Tubbs has blossomed into one of the most exciting talents in non-league football. With 25 goals from 27 Blue Square Premier League games, the former Bolton trainee is reportedly attracting the attention of Football League big-boys Peterborough, Southampton and Leeds United. The 26-year old has netted three times on Crawley's FA Cup run, including the winner against Torquay United in the fourth round. Manager Self-confessed United fan Steve Evans is not short of confidence - in fact the Crawley boss has predicted his side will cause the “biggest shock the world has ever seen” at Old Trafford on Saturday. The former Boston United manager has guided non-league Crawley through six FA Cup rounds this season, knocking out league clubs Derby County and Torquay United along the way. Evans, who was once managed by Martin Ferguson (brother of Sir Alex) at Albion Rovers, had to cut short his playing career at 28 due to a serious knee injury. Referee Lee Probert was last on duty for a United game on Saturday 27 November 2010 - the day when Dimitar Berbatov bagged five goals in the Reds' 7-1 rout of Blackburn Rovers. Rivals watch In fourth-round replays, Chelsea take on Everton at Stamford Bridge and Man City face Notts County at Eastlands. In the fifth round, Arsenal make the short journey across London for a tie with Leyton Orient.

Crawley boss jittery over meeting Fergie
" Friday, 18th February 2011 CRAWLEY TOWN boss Steve Evans admits he will be wracked with nerves when they take on Manchester United in the FA Cup fifth round tomorrow. He said: “I’ll be meeting Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford in front of 75,000 Manchester United fans. Of course I’m nervous.” http://www.cityam.com/sport/crawley-...meeting-fergie === Crawley Town enjoy tour of Old Trafford before Manchester United tie • Non-league side play league leaders in FA Cup on Saturday • 'We know it will be tough, but we can dream of winning' The Crawley Town manager, Steve Evans, has somewhat undermined his insistence that his team will go into their FA Cup fifth-round tie against Manchester United on Saturday with the serious intention of winning by taking them on a visitors' tour of Old Trafford. Players and staff took in the sights and sounds of United's stadium on Thursday, shortly after arriving in Manchester. That Crawley, who sit second in the Blue Square Premier League, should prepare for their first game against Sir Alex Ferguson's men with a tourist excursion will only strengthen the belief that they are not genuinely geared up to cause what would arguably be the greatest FA Cup shock of all time. However, Evans was adamant that the Sussex-based club are focused on testing the 11-times winners of the competition. "We are one of the teams that could go and get a positive result [against Manchester United]," said Evans, who took over at Crawley in May 2007. "We know it's going to be a tough afternoon, but we can dream of winning." Crawley, who are 35-1 to overcome United, beat Derby County and Torquay United en route to becoming only the sixth non-league side to reach the FA Cup fifth round since the second world war. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2...chester-united

Re: [FA Cup] Man Utd vs Crawley
Ferguson hopes for Rooney 'burst'
Published on Fri Feb 18 13:19:12 GMT 2011 Clubcall Sir Alex Ferguson is crossing his fingers Wayne Rooney's wonder goal in last week's derby will trigger a scoring burst for the Manchester United striker. Rooney has still only scored six times this season, although his ratio has improved since his first goal from open play, at West Brom on New Year's Day. However, given his magnificent overhead kick at Old Trafford has been labelled by some as the best goal ever at the stadium, Rooney's confidence is clearly going to be soaring. Ferguson is expecting big things from the 25-year-old, saying: "Up until last season Wayne used to go on these scoring bursts. He used to do it in five or six games in a row and then go missing in terms of goals for a few games and then come back again." He added: "I would be quite happy for him to go on a burst now because we have some really important games coming up." That list of fixtures includes visits to Wigan and Liverpool, which will be split by a trip to Chelsea should Carlo Ancelotti's men fail against Everton at Stamford Bridge. It is one of the reasons why Ferguson is giving such careful consideration to his line-up, with Rooney highly unlikely to start. Instead, Javier Hernandez is expected to get another chance to further his education after scoring the winner at Southampton in the previous round. The Mexican has enjoyed a brilliant first season at United, hitting the net on 11 occasions but Ferguson concedes Hernandez is a better substitute at present as he gets used to the sheer pace of the English game. "That is possibly true at this moment in time," said Ferguson. "Javier's training performances have improved tremendously in the last couple of months. He is a great impact player."

Re: [FA Cup] Man Utd vs Crawley
Strong side for Crawley clash
18/02/2011 10:30, Report by Gemma Thompson Sir Alex Ferguson won't be taking anything for granted against non-league Crawley Town on Saturday with the United boss set to field a number of the players who helped see off Southampton in the last round. The manager confirmed that a host of senior players including John O'Shea, Wes Brown and Michael Carrick will all be involved, while the likes of Bebe, Chicharito and the da Silva brothers will also feature in the FA Cup fifth round tie. The Reds, however, will be without the injured Michael Owen after the striker picked a knock in training earlier in the week, while Ji-sung Park is also missing. "It's disappointing because I was keen to play Michael," the boss told reporters at his pre-match press conference. "We could risk him but there's no point. He should be okay for Wednesday [against Marseille]. "Ji picked up a hamstring injury in the last few minutes of training last Friday. It's a blow because we've missed him [while he's been away on international duty]. He won't be available until March now. "Rio [Ferdinand] and Jonny [Evans] are also still injured. "We'll play all the players who were involved at Southampton in the last round," added the boss. "Bebe will play, so will the two da Silvas, Brown, O'Shea, Chicharito. We're strong in midfield with Anderson, Gibson and Carrick all available." United may be overriding favourites to make it through to the quarter-finals, but Sir Alex insists his players still need to produce the goods to get http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Fe...r-Cup-tie.aspx
