Everton v MAN UTD: Nemanja Vidic set to feature with Rio Ferdinand suspended



Vidic has yet to play in 2010 after suffering a nerve problem in a leg, but after expressing some exasperation about the situation earlier this week, Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed the Serbian will be available at Goodison Park.

Anderson is also in the squad following a reserve team appearance last night, but Ryan Giggs is out with a broken arm, while Rio Ferdinand and Nani are both suspended.

Barclays Premier League title hopefuls Manchester United travel to Everton looking for a victory that will see them over take Chelsea at the top of the table for a few hours at least.

Everton have suffered a fresh injury blow with the loss of key midfielder Tim Cahill for up to three weeks.

The Australian was forced off with a calf injury during the Toffees' Europa League victory over Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday.

Everton learned earlier this week that another influential midfielder, Marouane Fellaini, will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

John Heitinga is available after missing the Sporting tie through ineligibility and Steven Pienaar returns to Barclays Premier League duty after suspension.

Tony Hibbert (groin), Victor Anichebe (back) and loan signing Philippe Senderos (back) are still out but progressing and long-term absentee Phil Jagielka (knee) is also back in training.

MANCHESTER - Manchester United akan bertandang ke markas Everton, Goodison Park, akhir pekan ini. Pelatih Sir Alex Ferguson menyampaikan kabar gembira bahwa Nemanja Vidic siap diturunkan.

Sejak awal 2010, Vidic absen merumput karena mengalami cedera urat saraf kaki cukup serius. Bahkan, bek asal Serbia, yang gencar dikabarkan segera hengkang dari Old Trafford, ini terpaksa tidak membela United dalam partai krusial melawan AC Milan di San Siro, tengah pekan lalu.

Namun, dalam lanjutan Premier League kontra Everton malam ini, bek kelahiran 28 tahun silam dipastikan kembali dalam Starting XI skuad Si Setan Merah.

“Ini adalah berita gembira sekaligus ucapan selamat datang atas kembalinya Vidic dalam skuad. Dia berlatih sangat baik sepanjang dua pekan terakhir dan siap diturunkan hari ini,” ungkap Ferguson, dikutip dari Goal, Sabtu (20/2/2010).

Selain Vidic, pelatih berkebangsaan Skotlandia juga menjanjikan winger Antonio Valencia akan kembali sebagai starter, setelah dibangkucadangkan beberapa pekan.

“Dia bermain cukup bagus musim ini. Tapi, kami belum mengerti benar kemampuannya dan kami sempat memutuskan memberinya waktu istirahat. Beruntung, waktu itu Nani sudah pulih dan memberi kami kesempatan untuk menggantikan Valencia,” jelas sang pelatih.

Valencia adalah pemain anyar yang didatangkan United pada awal musim dari Wigan Athletic. Sepanjang 24 kali tampil, winger asal Ekuador ini sudah mengemas lima gol.
