Ashley Fletcher kept up his fantastic scoring run for the season as he fired United’s Under-18s to a 2-1 win over Southampton at the Aon Training Complex.

Fletcher made it seven goals in seven games after a first- half double which sealed victory against a spirited Saints side.

Both sides started the game positively with United having the best chance on 20 minutes when Joe Riley headed Josh

Harrop’s free-kick over the bar. Paul McGuinness’ men got the breakthrough six minutes later through the in-form Fletcher after a flurry of action in the area. A cross from the right was only half cleared by Saints’ stopper Harry Isted and after Harrop had clipped the post with a lovely curling effort, Riley saw his shot cleared off the line before Fletcher followed up to score from close-range.

Riley had a shot well saved soon, while Southampton striker Sam Gallagher sent a flying header just wide after rising to meet Dan Demkiv’s right-wing cross.

The Reds doubled the advantage on 37 minutes after a sweeping move. Harrop fired the ball out wide after great play in his own half. Having collected possession again and skipped into the area, his pin-point cross found Fletcher who couldn’t miss from three yards.

The visitors went close to pulling one back on the stroke of half-time when Gallagher took a pass on the run before evading two defenders and dragging the ball just wide, with Dean Henderson well beaten in the United goal.

Saints came out strongly after the restart with Jake Hesketh looping a shot just wide.

There were opportunities at both ends thereafter with Reds’ substitute Sean Goss seeing an effort well saved by Isted, at the second attempt, while Gallagher fired wide after being presented with possession by United. Fletcher was denied a hat-trick when his header, from a brilliant Harrop cross from the right, was well saved by Isted. Saints grabbed a lifeline on 67 minutes when substitute Barnes slipped the ball past Willock and drilled a low drive past Henderson from 25 yards.

Mitchell and Barnes had good efforts thereafter for United and Saints respectively, before Gallagher missed a great opportunity to level proceedings on 76 minutes after failing to divert Nehemie’s cross goalwards from five yards out.

Despite further late pressure from the visitors, the Reds held out for the win, their sixth on the trot.

Fletcher semakin menjanjikan, kalau Will Keane gak kembali ke performa awal bisa di lewati oleh Fletcher nih. Belum lagi ada Wilson, setidaknya ada 3 striker potensial akademi/ reserve yang menjanjikan, Fletcher, Wilson & Keane. Keterlaluan banget kalau 1 dari 3 pemain tsb gak diakomodir di tim utama.

stop beli striker jadi, karena waiting listnya berpotensi. RvP, Rooney, Hernandez lagi masa emas. Kemudian ada Welbeck (Henriquez & Macheda) serta Lingard ditambah 3 yang tadi jadi siklus nunggunya sudah tepat, tinggal tunggu waktu saja ini.

U18s: A.Villa 3 United 1

Manchester United's winning streak in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League came to an end as Aston Villa recorded a 3-1 victory in the Midlands.

Villa were on top in the first half and deservedly went ahead after 26 minutes but, to their credit, the Reds responded well after the break and Devonte Redmond supplied an instant equaliser.

Despite a bright spell for Paul McGuinness' side, Villa regained the lead six minutes later and a third strike ensured there was no route back into the game for the visitors.

United's Under-18s returned to winning ways on
Saturday morning after an Ashley Fletcher brace,
allied to two super strikes from Sean Goss and
Matthew Willock, proved enough to earn the Reds a
4-2 over West Bromwich Albion.

Despite the blustery conditions, the 90 minutes yielded a
game played at frenetic pace. United darted out of the
traps and the early pressure reaped instant dividends as the
Reds took the lead within four minutes.

Callum Evans was brought down illegally on the right and from
the resultant free-kick Sean Goss curled in beautifully for
striker Ashley Fletcher to stab home. The in-form frontman,
who brought his goal tally for the season up to eight, peeled
away gleefully as the young charges celebrated the early
lead.

However, the set-back seemed to barely trouble West Brom
who responded extremely well. The Baggies maintained
possession in midfield and forced the likes of Goss, who
impressed throughout, and Willock to provide extra support
for United's back four.

It seemed the United rearguard had stemmed the tide, but on
25 minutes West Brom caught United on the break by
launching a long ball deep into their opponents' half. Reds
skipper Evans misjudged the bounce, allowing Reece
Greenridge to play in McKenzie for the equaliser.

United were not to be deterred and within only five minutes
the lead was restored. After excellent work from Thompson
on the left, the Reds' no.10 swept a ball back to Goss who
was perched on the edge of the area.

Expertly controlling the ball, Goss then played an exquisite
one two with Ashley Fletcher before ruthlessly smashing
home United's second goal of the game. Having regained the
advantage, the home side found renewed impetus, finishing
the half
strongly as the midfield three of Willock, Goss and Harrop stamped authority on proceedings. This control almost gave way to a third United goal as ever-involved Goss clipped the crossbar after an opportunistic shot from the edge of the area.

The Reds started the second period with similar purpose, switching the ball relentlessly and stretching the Baggies defence. With only two minutes gone a third goal arrived. After a United attack appeared to have fizzled out, Matty Willock pounced on an errant West Brom header to unleash a punishing drive to put the Reds 3-1 up. It was a goal thoroughly deserved as United's no.8 proved to be an important conduit between defence and attack throughout the game.

An excellent shot from Harrop was then tipped around the post by Baggies stopper Palmer before Goss and Willock again combined to set up Fletcher to nod home his second of the game. 4-1 United.

After the Reds' cut and thrust start to the second half it was somewhat understandable that the pace of the game dropped following the home team's fourth goal. This lull gave West Brom the opportunity to get a foot on the ball once again and after Donnelly's excellent drive was tipped on to the bar by United's substitute keeper Pereira, the Baggies caused momentary worry after Nabi fired home to make it 4-2.

Thankfully, the strike was to prove nothing more than a consolation effort as United saw the game out to notch an important three points and keep Paul McGuinness' side top of Group 2 in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League.

Manchester United's Under-18s claimed a dramatic win on Saturday - despite allowing visitors Sunderland to come back from 2-0 down.

The Reds struck first after eight minutes. Redmond's neat footwork made space on the left flank and when he laid the ball back to Sean Goss, the latter curled in a shot from the edge of the area. Sunderland responded well to going behind and United goalkeeper Kieran O'Hara was at full stretch to deny Rees Greenwood before the Black Cats were undone by a swift Reds counter-attack. Ashley Fletcher dispossessed Ross Colquhoun and fed James Wilson to clip home right-footed.

Wilson almost made it 3-0 in the second half when Callum Evans swapped passes with Joshua Harrop and his low cross picked out the in-form striker, only for the resulting close-range shot to rebound off the crossbar. It looked as if that moment could prove costly as the Black Cats hit back with Lynden Gooch grabbing two goals in four minutes - the first was an unstoppable drive into the top corner, the second a neat shot on the turn.

For a time it looked as if the visitors might even snatch an unlikely win, with substitute James Stinson lashing a good chance over and Martin Smith forcing a smart stop from O'Hara. But then, ten minutes from time, United got the winner. Fletcher's volley was well saved but from the resulting corner Demi Mitchell picked out Redmond in the six- yard area and he sidefooted home to secure three more points and maintain a fine start to the season for Paul McGuinness's side.

Tom hails Youth League

Tom Cleverley says the introduction of the UEFA Youth League will help United's Under-19s gain invaluable European experience.

Nicky Butt's side take on Real Sociedad at the AJ Bell Stadium at 14:00 BST on Wednesday afternoon with fans urged to go along and support the club's up and coming stars.

Cleverley insists he would love to have been involved in these types of games when he was younger and believes the players will learn a lot from them.

"The young lads have got a set-up now that's exactly like the first team - they're playing in the league, the UEFA Youth League and the Youth Cup which is like our FA Cup," explained Tom in an interview with MUTV. "It's almost an exact copy of what we do in the first team and it's great for them to get experience against different nationalities and travel like we do. I wish I'd had this experience when I was younger.

"Sociedad will be a good, technical side and will pass the ball well like all Spanish teams do. It's good for our lads to be
presented with different challenges against Shakhtar [Donetsk], [Bayer] Leverkusen and Sociedad in this group." Cleverley hopes supporters will get behind the Reds at the game, before heading to Old Trafford to see the first team in action: "It's an ideal opportunity [for fans] to see the future," added the midfielder. "It's a good standard of football and hopefully the lads can do well."

Manchester United’s Under-18s replaced Everton
at the top of the Barclays U18 Premier League
North Group table after Sean Goss’ late goal
secured a 2-1 win over the Toffees at the Aon
Training Complex on Saturday afternoon.

The midfielder pounced in stoppage-time to give Paul
McGuinness’ men the points and retain United’s 100% home
record, just as it looked like Everton had snatched a late
draw.

Andreas Pereira’s first-half penalty put United ahead in a
keenly-contested encounter, but George Green equalised
from the spot with five minutes to go and Everton had
further chances to win themselves before Goss’ dramatic
intervention.

Everton enjoyed the better of the game before the interval
as the Reds found their feet in their first action for nearly a
month.

Jordan Thorniley’s header landed on the roof of the net
after Reds goalkeeper Joel Pereira failed to collect a cross
and, a minute later, Ben Barber was forced to clear a
Toffees shot off his goalline.

But it was United who made the breakthrough in the 25th
minute after Curtis Langton mistimed a tackle on Pereira in
the box. Pereira picked himself up to score the penalty off
the legs of keeper Russell Griffiths.

Early in the second half Everton were perhaps given a let-
off when James Wilson appeared to be impeded by Langton
as he charged through towards goal.

Josh Harrop and Saidy Janko, on his Under-18s debut, both
went close with shots as United looked set to make the
game safe.

But Everton got back on level terms when Green converted a
penalty after Courtney Duffus had been felled by keeper
Pereira, and the visitors nearly won it when Duffus flashed
a half-volley inches wide.

Moments later, substitute Ashley Fletcher crossed from the
left to Harrop, whose point-blank shot was well saved, but Goss showed superb technique to arrow in the rebound for his third goal in as many games.

Paul McGuinness’ Under-18s slipped to only their third defeat of the season against a hard-working and stubborn Middlesbrough side at Rockcliffe Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds fell to a goal early in the second half and made a barnstorming finish to try and claim something from the game, but the home side hung on to record a keenly-fought 1-0 victory.

Middlesbrough looked determined from the start and were bright and lively during the early exchanges. The visitors rarely appeared threatened although it was the home side who were asking most of the questions with United’s Dean Henderson the busier of the two keepers. He made several important first-half saves that required him to be alert and agile, the first of which came in the ninth minute when he kept a Dael Fry header out.

Boro could have gone in with a half-time lead but Henderson did well to foil further efforts from Tom Molson and Priestley Griffiths. United had their moments at the other end with Sean Goss and Ashley Fletcher both having opportunities to open the scoring.

The pattern of play continued after the break and four minutes into the second half the hosts finally found a way past Henderson when substitute Matty Wyke fired a low shot past the United stopper who was unable to keep it out despite getting a glove to it.

Minutes later and United looked certain to draw level when Demitri Mitchell was sent clear with just keeper Joe Fryer to beat, but the Boro stopper came out on top in the one-on-one. Fletcher was then presented with a great chance following a defensive lapse, but with the goal at his mercy Fryer dived at the striker’s feet to send the ball out for a corner. Fletcher appealed to the referee claiming he should have pointed to the penalty spot but the official was not about to change his mind.

The Reds pulled out all the stops in the closing stages with Mitchell and Fletcher going close to grabbing an equaliser, while Goss thought he should have been awarded a penalty after a challenge from Fryer, but the appeal was waved away.

United finished the stronger of the two sides but despite the late spell of pressure they were unable to break the home defence down.

Babak pertama skema permain mereka bisa dibaca Burnley, namun dibabak kedua mereka berubah total. Berani passing & terobosan, pressing lebih baik, ahh keren deh pokoknya cara mereka main. Sang pengatur serangan Sean Goss uda mirip Carrick saja.
