LARSSON LOOKING FORWARD TO UNITED'S VISIT

Former Manchester United striker Henrik Larsson is keen to see more of Jose Mourinho's new-look side, starting with Saturday's match in Gothenburg against Galatasaray.

The Reds face the Turkish giants in Sweden on the concluding leg of Tour 2016, presented by Aon, and Larsson will keep abreast of the action despite his commitments as manager of Helsingborgs.

"United are big here, as they've always been," he told ManUtd.com. "It’s in Gothenburg and I was at the game when United played Barcelona there a few years back. There were a lot of spectators then and I expect it’s going to be the same again this time around.

"I still try to watch United as much as I can, whenever it doesn’t clash with one of my own games here. I definitely try to watch as much as I can."

Marcus Rashford is likely to be involved in Sweden after his substitute appearance against Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai and Larsson, who played 13 games on loan for United in 2006/07, is keen to see how the young forward develops following his fairytale breakthrough season.

"I’ve seen a little bit of Marcus Rashford and he looks exciting," enthused the former Red. "It is just a question of bringing him from talented prospect to a fully-fledged star."

Larsson's son Jordan is a few months older than Rashford and the 19-year-old Helsingborgs prospect is another forward who appears to have a bright future.

"I think he's doing okay," explained Larsson Snr. "He's been scoring some goals for us and is developing in the right direction so that's good.

"I enjoy what I’m working with at Helsingborgs. It’s challenging, it’s fun and it’s frustrating sometimes because you want to win as much as possible. We haven’t been able to win that much at the moment but we’re looking to bounce back and make all of the Helsingborgs supporters proud."

Setting the scene: United travel to Scandinavia with Jose Mourinho keen for the Reds to hone match sharpness ahead of the new season, particularly after Monday’s Manchester derby in Beijing was disappointingly cancelled at late notice due to extreme weather conditions in the Chinese capital.

Team news: The squad could be boosted by a number of international players who were rested following their participation at Euro 2016. That includes Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as well as Anthony Martial, Morgan Schneiderlin, Marouane Fellaini, Matteo Darmian and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Story of their season: The 2015/16 campaign was something of a mixed bag for Galatasaray after the Turkish giants disappointingly finished sixth in the Super Lig and exiting the Champions League at the group stage, finishing third behind eventual finalists Atletico Madrid as well as Benfica. He’s now their biggest name, along with Lukas Podolski, and the 33-year-old will likely face off against his former Inter Milan manager Mourinho in this friendly.

Opposition manager: Jan Olde Riekerink was born in Hengelo, Holland, and played professionally for Sparta Rotterdam, FC Dordrecht and Telstar. He coached at Ajax between 1995 and 2002, but took the leap into management with Belgian club Gent and then FC Emmen. The Dutchman has also been employed in a series of background roles, as an assistant manager at Porto and Metalurh Donetsk, and head of youth development at Ajax. He was interestingly involved with China’s Under-16 and Under-19 teams before pitching up at Galatasaray in March 2016, to save their season.

Previous meetings: United and Galatasaray have played six competitive matches, beginning with an entertaining 3-3 draw at Old Trafford in the 1993 European Cup second round. A 0-0 draw in Istanbul (the infamous ‘Welcome to Hell’ match) knocked Ferguson’s Reds out of Europe on the away goals rule, before another goalless stalemate the year after. A 4-0 home win followed with Simon Davies, David Beckham and Roy Keane among the goals, and a fifth meeting took place some eight years later at Old Trafford. Michael Carrick hit the only goal that night, ahead of the Reds losing 1-0 at the Turk Telecom Arena a few weeks later.

UNITED SQUAD TO FACE GALATASARAY

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has named a 23-man squad for Saturday’s friendly against Galatasaray in Gothenburg, where Zlatan Ibrahimovic could make his unofficial debut.

The 34-year-old striker and Swedish icon, who retired from international football following his participation at Euro 2016 earlier this summer, looks set to register his first Reds appearance in his homeland after he was pictured training with his new team-mates on Thursday.

Ibrahimovic is joined in the squad by four other players who did not travel to China for the first leg of Tour 2016, presented by Aon - Matteo Darmian, Marouane Fellaini, Morgan Schneiderlin and Anthony Martial - following their participation in the latter stages of the European Championship in France.

New signings Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan could make their third appearances for United since their own transfers to the club, while captain Wayne Rooney is presumably in line to feature for the first time under Mourinho after sitting out the match against Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai.

Jose Mourinho has named the same 23-man squad that trained at Carrington on Thursday, omitting the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Andreas Pereira and Adnan Januzaj.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Chris Smalling are notable absences.

Fosu-Mensah deleted a tweet on Thursday saying he was 'recovering', amid reports he had been told he was not in Mourinho's plans for the forthcoming season.

Centre-back Smalling, it is assumed, is injured.

The Galatasaray game is a chance for a number of players to make their first appearances in pre-season. Wayne Rooney and David de Gea travelled to China but did not feature, while Anthony Martial, Morgan Schneiderlin, Marouane Fellaini and Matteo Darmian are available after their Euro 2016 commitments.

Dan hanya Rashford yang dibawa dari pemain muda yang ikut ke China. Apakah Rojo juga dinilai sebagai CB? Apa nggak kapok lihat lawan Dortmund. Klo nggak kapok silahkan lihat musim lalu. Sebagai LB mungkin masih bisa tapi sebagai CB? Mending Tuanzebe atau TFM.

Gol spektakuler Ibra dibalas 2 gol Galatasaray. Gol kedua nggak banget. Herrera cuma iseng nyenggol si Bruma dan kayak sama sekali nggak nyangka bakal ada kerjasama one two gitu.
