[2020-2021] Manchester United ~ Transfer Rumors

Manchester United 'interested in move for Douglas Costa' after missing Dortmund's deadline for Jadon Sancho... but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer faces battle with other Premier League clubs to sign Juventus winger

* Manchester United are interested in a move for Juventus star Douglas Costa
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs alternatives after missing Jadon Sancho deadline
* Andrea Pirlo's arrival as Juventus manager means several players will be sold
* The Serie A champions are set to let go five star players including Douglas Costa

Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Juventus winger Douglas Costa as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks for alternatives after missing Borussia Dortmund's deadline to sign Jadon Sancho on Monday Morning.

United were given until Dortmund departed for their pre-season training camp in Switzerland to wrap up a sensational £108million move for the England star. But the German side departed on Monday morning with Sancho on the plane.

Solskjaer must now look elsewhere for wingers if United chiefs cannot convince Dortmund to do a deal for Sancho in the coming weeks.

Manchester United are interested in signing Juventus' Douglas Costa, say reports in Italy. United are looking for alternatives to Jadon Sancho after missing Dortmund's deadline

Costa is believed to be one of those with the Serie A champions preparing for an exodus of first-team stars this summer, according to reports.

The Brazilian winger failed to make an impression on former Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri, starting just six league games all season as the Old Lady retained their Scudetto title.

The Turin side confirmed the appointment of Andrea Pirlo as the club's new manager last weekend following Sarri's sacking and Juventus are preparing wide-scale exits as a result.

And according to Tuttosport, Costa is one of five players set to be sold by the Turin side this summer with Manchester United having a strong interest in the 29-year-old's signature.

The report also says that midfield duo Blaise Matuidi and Sami Khedira are also set to be moved on this summer as Pirlo plans a rejuvenation of the Juventus squad.

Reports in Italy state that Khedira's contract could be terminated by mutual consent, while World Cup winner Matuidi has been linked with a move to David Beckham's MLS franchise Inter Miami.

Meanwhile, one or two full-backs could end up leaving the Serie A champions, with Brazilian defender Alex Sandro and Mattia De Sciglio most likely to leave.

Costa joined Juventus from Bayern Munich in 2017 on an initial loan deal, before completing a £32million move from the German side a year later.

However, since making the move to Turin permanent in 2018, the Brazilian has scored just two Serie A goals and registered six assists since then.

He fared slightly better in Germany, scoring 14 goals in 77 matches for the Bayern Munich after completing a £22million from Ukranian side Shakhtar Donetsk.

Meanwhile, Alex Sandro and Khedira have both been at Juventus for five years and played instrumental roles in Massimilano Allegri's title-winning squads.

Matuidi and De Sciglio also joined at the same time in 2017 and while the Frenchman was a first-team regular, the latter was used sparingly by both Allegri and Sarri.

Re: [2020-2021] Manchester United ~ Transfer Rumors

Chris Smalling could become the FOURTH Manchester United player in 12 months to swap Old Trafford for the San Siro as Inter Milan 'join rivals Roma in race for £23m outcast'

* Inter Milan joined the race to sign Manchester United defender Chris Smalling
* The 30-year-old centre back impressed on loan with Roma in Serie A this season
* United have reportedly demanded a £23million fee to sell Smalling permanently
* Inter have taken Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Ashley Young from United

Inter Milan are targeting another Manchester United raid this summer with the Serie A club having joined the race to sign Chris Smalling, according to reports.

The 30-year-old defender was shipped out on loan to Italy this season and impressed during his stint with Roma despite having fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

And now Sportmediaset believe that Smalling has caught the eye of title challengers Inter ahead of a potential £23million summer move.

Smalling, a 31-cap England international, failed to impress Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after his arrival in the United hotseat.

With the centre back once again placed on the transfer list, Inter may be tempted to swoop and bring in another United player for a fourth time.

United have been able to bump up Smalling's value after his successful spell with Roma.

Inter Milan may raid Manchester United again to sign defender Chris Smalling this summer. Antonio Conte reportedly believes the 30-year-old's experience will help his title challengers. Roma were keen to sign Smalling permanently after his loan but baulked at United's £23m fee

The Serie A outfit decided that they wanted to sign the former Fulham man permanently, but Smalling's parent club were reportedly unwilling to broker a deal for a cut price.

The £23m fee has seen other clubs show their interest, with Inter among them, after Roma were put off.

It is believed boss Antonio Conte believes Smalling's experience and desire will be integral to his team's title challenge next season.

Smalling made 30 league appearances this campaign, and even scored three goals and recorded two assists despite operating along the backline.

Roma were desperate to keep the defender for the rest of their Europa League journey but failed to reach an agreement with United to extend the loan deal.

Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez both left Old Trafford for Inter last summer, and the duo were soon joined by fellow team-mate Ashley Young in January.

Manchester United 'ready to trump Chelsea in race for Leicester defender Ben Chilwell' by meeting huge £80m asking price for England left back

* Ben Chilwell has been linked to both Chelsea and Manchester City this summer
* Frank Lampard's Blues are deemed to be favourites for the 23-year-old talent
* But reports say Manchester United could stump up £80million for Chilwell
* Chilwell's move to United would see him follow in Harry Maguire's footsteps

Manchester United are preparing to enter the race for Leicester City full back Ben Chilwell, according to reports.

The 23-year-old defender has been identified by both Manchester City and Chelsea as ideal options to improve their left back options for next season.

Chilwell has been valued by Pep Guardiola's City side at £80million, a similar fee which United paid for ex-Leicester man Harry Maguire just over a year ago.

And according to The Mirror, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be prepared to raid Leicester for another key defensive option by paying the Foxes' asking price for the player.

https://i.postimg.cc/nzB2PVLL/319059...7321219543.jpg
Leicester City star Ben Chilwell could move to Manchester United this summer, say reports. United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could bring in competition for Luke Shaw

Chelsea are believed to be the front-runners for the Englishman's signature this summer but the same report claims the Blues have put forward a much lower offer for the 23-year-old.

Frank Lampard is desperate to bring in a first-choice option on the left side of defence, with current options Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri lacking in consistency in recent seasons.

https://i.postimg.cc/8cG4Q8Fm/319059...7321356405.jpg
Chelsea are favourites to sign Chilwell but Frank Lampard's side could be priced out of a deal. Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers could invest the £80million for Chilwell in other areas

The Blues do have other options to look at, with Ajax man Nicolas Tagliafico, Atalanta's Robin Gosens and Sevilla's Sergio Reguilon reportedly deemed left back targets this summer.

United, meanwhile, currently have Luke Shaw as their first-choice option at left back, while the Red Devils extended the contract of young back-up talent Brandon Williams last week.

Manchester City have question marks over the long-term fitness of Benjamin Mendy, though Guardiola has already brought in left-footed defender Nathan Ake to the Etihad Stadium, who could be used in that position.

Joao Cancelo and Oleksandr Zinchenko can also play there, but they are not natural left back options.

While the 23-year-old's departure would damage Leicester's top-four challenge for next season, head coach Brendan Rodgers could use the large fee to invest in other areas of the squad.

Burnley duo James Tarkowski and Dwight McNeil have both been linked with a move to the King Power Stadium this summer.

Chilwell came through the Foxes' youth academy, before breaking into the first-team in 2015.

He has since made 123 appearances in all competitions for Leicester and quickly installed himself as the first names on the team-sheet under Rodgers.

Chilwell has also been capped 11 times by England and is expected to be in Gareth Southgate's squad for next summer's European Championships.

B]Manchester United 'make fresh enquiry for Barcelona teen sensation Ansu Fati as alternative to Jadon Sancho' but Catalan side are determined to keep hold of wonderkid[/B]

* Manchester United have set their sights on Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati
* The Red Devils are struggling in Jadon Sancho negotiations and Fati is a back-up
* Barca are determined to keep hold of the 17-year-old highly-rated starlet

Manchester United have reportedly renewed their interest in Barcelona star Ansu Fati as a potential alternative to Jadon Sancho following their continued deadlock in negotiations with Borussia Dortmund.

The 17-year-old is known previously to have been of interest to United after scoring eight goals in his first professional season, but the Catalan club are desperate to keep hold of the wonderkid.

United have had their eyes set on Sancho for much of the transfer window but continue to be frustrated by Dortmund's £108million valuation of the England international.

After continued difficulty in negotiations boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been forced to look elsewhere and the Red Devils have made a fresh enquiry for Fati, according to Spanish publication Sport.

The same publication reported last month that the players agent Jorge Mendes revealed United were in pole position to bring the player to Old Trafford.

The report from Sport suggests that Fati would end up as a cheaper alternative to Sancho due to the starlet's lower wage demands at this stage.

The player only negotiated a new three-year deal with Barca in December which included a release clause of £144m, but the club could look to raise that to a staggering £360m as they look to send a message that Fati is not for sale, according to Marca.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is lining up alternatives if the Sancho deal is not completed. The teenager has enjoyed an impressive debut season for Barca and has scored eight goals

United remain determined to secure the signature of Sancho despite a number of issues surfacing this week in talks with the German club.

Last week, the deal appeared to be heading in the right direction but talks have stalled with United balking at Sancho's wage demands and Dortmund's valuation of the winger.

Dortmund chief Michael Zorc declared on Monday that Sancho will remain with them next season and the 20-year-old has now underlined his happiness at the club.

Speaking to BVB-TV on Wednesday, Sancho said: 'I love playing with this lot. It is a special bunch.

'We've got some special young players coming up. I am really happy to share the pitch with them and guide them.

'I was once in their shoes, playing with the seniors. I am happy for them.'

Sancho played 45 minutes in Dortmund's pre-season friendly win over Rheindorf Altach in Austria on Wednesday.

PSG 'make contact with Odion Ighalo as they search for Edinson Cavani's replacement' with the striker catching their eye during his loan spell with Manchester United

* PSG have expressed concrete interest in Man United loan star Odion Ighalo
* The French champions want to sign a forward to fill void left by Edinson Cavani
* PSG want an experienced player and have been impressed by Ighalo at United

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly lining up a shock move for Manchester United's on-loan star Odion Ighalo.

The 31-year-old striker has caught the eye during his loan spell at United from Shanghai Shenhua, scoring five times for the club.

The Nigerian signed a deal to stay at United until January but PSG are considering him as an option as they look to replace Edinson Cavani.

PSG Sporting Director Leonardo has drawn up a shortlist of possible targets and will even explore the possibility of signing Cristiano Ronaldo amid rumours Juventus are looking to get him off their wage bill.

However, French publication Foot Mercato claim that PSG have also made contact with Ighalo's representatives about a possible transfer.

The French champions splashed out £52million to sign Mauro Icardi on a permanent basis earlier this summer but are looking for another attacking player to provide competition.

Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Manchester United loan star Odion Ighalo. The French champions want to sign a striker to replace the departed Edinson Cavani. Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with PSG, though Ighalo would be a much cheaper option

19-year-old Arnaud Kalimuendo has been integrated into the first-team squad ahead of next season but PSG want to bring in a more experienced and reliable player.

Ighalo fits that mould and would be a much cheaper option than some of PSG's other targets.

Cavani, meanwhile, is still searching for a new club after seven-year spell at the club came to an end last month.

Newly-promoted Leeds were in the race to sign the 33-year-old Uruguayan but now face an uphill task to get a deal over the line with Bayern Munich and Benfica the current favourites to land his signature.

Manchester United 'willing to splurge £153m on Barcelona's 17-year-old wonderkid Ansu Fati BEFORE he signs new deal with staggering £360m buyout clause'... despite refusing to meet Borussia Dortmund's £108m asking price for Jadon Sancho

* Man United are said to have offered £60-70million up front for Jadon Sancho
* But Mundo Deportivo claim they are willing to pay £153m for Spaniard Ansu Fati
* Fati, 17, scored eight goals in his breakout season at Barcelona in 2019-20
* But Barcelona want him to sign a new deal with a whopping £360m release fee

Manchester United are willing to pay a whopping £153million (€170m) to sign Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati, according to reports in Spain.

The Old Trafford club have so far refused to meet Borussia Dortmund's £108m valuation for winger Jadon Sancho.

United chiefs are instead believed to have offered between £60m and £70m up front for the 20-year-old England international, while the rest would be paid in instalments.

https://i.postimg.cc/L8ZY9G1Y/323356...8308456794.jpg
Man United are 'willing to pay a whopping £153m' to sign Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati. United have so far refused to meet Borussia Dortmund's £108m valuation for Jadon Sancho

However, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claim United are willing to pay an additional £45m to bring in 17-year-old Fati before he commits to a new contract at the Nou Camp which includes a £360m buyout clause.

Fati played 33 times in all competitions for Barcelona last season, scoring eight times in his breakout season with the Catalan giants.

The winger - who was named in Luis Enrique's Spain squad for the first time last week for their opening two games of their 2020-21 UEFA Nations League campaign - has been placed on the list of names Barcelona consider unavailable for transfer this summer.

He is therefore being lined up alongside fellow youngster Riqui Puig to become the club's shining light in the long-term with the future of star man Lionel Messi increasingly uncertain.

https://i.postimg.cc/MHPMHS5R/323358...8308599780.jpg
And now reports in Spain suggest Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has turned his attention to Fati, 17. However, Barcelona want Fati to sign a new deal which includes a £360m release clause

Moreover, the report adds the club are set to make his release fee a staggering £360m - nearly double the world-record transfer fee which is currently the £198m Paris Saint-Germain spent on Neymar in 2017.

Meanwhile, Sancho is seen as a short-term talent by Bundesliga side Dortmund - who will happily cash in on him as soon as their £108m valuation is met.

The Sun however claim it is now likely Sancho will stay for one more season and will be sold next summer after Manchester United missed the August 10 deadline set by the German outfit to get a deal done.

The news comes a day after The Mirror reported that United have given up on Sancho after conceding that his £300,000-a-week wage demands would shatter their pay structure.

Manchester United 'launch late effort to gazump Inter Milan to £31m Brescia starlet Sandro Tonali' with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to strengthen midfield options ahead of next season

* Manchester United have made a late attempt to sign Bresica's Sandro Tonali
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to bolster United's options in midfield
* However, United look to set to miss out on the prospect to Inter Milan

Manchester United have reportedly made a late approach for Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, United are eager to sign the 20-year-old but are likely to miss out as he is poised to join Inter Milan instead.

Inter have reportedly agreed to sign Tonali on loan with an obligation to sign him next summer for £31.3million.

United held talks with Brescia over Tonali, who is seen as a hugely exciting prospect.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to bolster his midfield options and believes that Tonali could work perfectly with Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba.

Manchester United 'join Liverpool in weighing up a move for RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka' after Zambia hotshot scored twice for the Austrian side in their friendly against Jurgen Klopp's team last week

* Patson Daka scored twice for RB Salzburg in a friendly against Liverpool
* He also netted 24 goals in 31 league games as Salzburg won the Austrian title
* Reports now state Man United have joined the Reds in eyeing a move for Daka
* He could cost more than £20m having last year signed a new deal until 2024

Manchester United have joined Liverpool in lining up a move for RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka, according to reports.

The 21-year-old Zambian scored twice for the Austrian side in their 2-2 draw with Jurgen Klopp's team in a friendly on Tuesday.

And now The Sun claim United have joined the Reds and several other big clubs in tracking him.

Man United have joined Liverpool in lining up a move for RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka

Daka scored 24 goals in 31 league games as Salzburg won the Austrian Bundesliga title for the seventh year in a row in 2019-20.

That title came despite selling star striker Erling Haaland to Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund in January, at the expense of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

The Zambia international is the latest player off the Salzburg production line, with the club already having produced current Anfield stars Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino.

https://i.postimg.cc/YCXnqRRz/325572...8766904000.jpg
Daka scored 24 goals in 31 league games as Salzburg won the Austrian Bundesliga title

He also faced Liverpool in the Champions League last season, after which the Reds decided to purchase Minamino.

The report adds United would offer serious competition to their rivals if Daka is sold, but they would have to fork out a fee of more than £20m after the forward signed a new deal until 2024 last year.

United do have other targets, with Sportsmail revealing on Saturday that talks have been held with Aston Villa regarding Jack Grealish while they are also monitoring Ajax star Donny van de Beek.

However, the club also know the cost of not swooping for young talent soon enough after missing out on signing Norwegian star Haaland from Molde for an initial fee of £2.7m in July 2018, some 18 months before he turned them down to join Dortmund for £18m.

Lyon striker Moussa Dembele was also a reported prime target for United in 2016, but the Frenchman instead moved to Celtic before joining Lyon two years ago.

The 24-year-old is once again a target this summer, but is now expected to cost at least £60m.

Manchester United reignite interest in RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano but will have to pay Bundesliga outfit a hefty transfer fee as there is NO release clause in the defender's contract

* Man United have reignited their interest in RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano
* The 21-year-old recently starred for the German side in the Champions League
* Sources say United will have to make Leipzig an offer that is too good to refuse
* Upamecano signed a new three-year deal at Julian Nagelsmann's side this year

Manchester United have reignited their long-standing interest in Dayot Upamecano as they attempt to follow up the imminent capture of Donny van de Beek.

United are ready to try and prise centre back Upamecano away from RB Leipzig. The 21-year-old is viewed as one of the best young defenders in Europe.

He helped Leipzig finish third in the Bundesliga and impressed in the Champions League knockout stages in Portugal as they reached the semi-finals.

Upamecano's form was recognised last week when he was named in France's senior squad for the first time. United have tried to sign him before.

Manchester United are looking to secure a deal for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano. United are ready to try and prise centre back Upamecano away from RB Leipzig. Sources say United will have to make Leipzig an offer that is too good to refuse to secure him

He visited Old Trafford for a tour of the club in 2015 before moving from Valenciennes to Red Bull Salzburg aged 16 for about £2million. He then joined RB Leipzig in 2017 for a fee in the region of £9m.

Sources say United will have to make Leipzig an offer that is too good to refuse to secure Upamecano as he does not have an active release clause for this window in his contract.

Upamecano did have a buyout clause of around £54m in his previous deal. Manchester City were weighing up a summer move but cooled their interest following the season's restart.

Upamecano signed a new deal in July which runs until 2023. It includes a release clause of about £38m that cannot be triggered until next summer.
