Dengan tersingkirnya United di piala FA, pasti Mourinho bakal all out di ajang ini.
Harus tetap fokus dan waspada, semoga lolos ke babak berikutnya. #GGMU

Re: [EL] Manchester United vs FC Rostov

PREVIEW: MANCHESTER UNITED V FC ROSTOV

What happened in the first leg? Well, on a much-maligned pitch at the Olimp-2 stadium, United produced a professional display in difficult conditions in Rostov-on-Don to gain an important away goal. Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored for the third successive European away game to put the Reds in the ascendancy at the break but Aleksandr Bukharov equalised early in the second half to leave the tie finely balanced.

How have Rostov been faring recently? The Russian Premier League side, under the stewardship of former Moldova coach Ivan Daniliants, are in decent form as they prepare for their first-ever away tie in the knockout stages of a European competition. Rostov won 6-0 at bottom-club Tom Tomsk in their first league game after a three-month winter break but were held to a goalless draw last weekend at home by Terek Grozny, who are directly above them in the table in sixth place and level on 29 points from 19 games.

Any early team news? Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney are out through injury. Eric Bailly will return from a one-match European suspension after sitting out the first leg following his red card against Saint-Etienne in the previous round while Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ander Herrera will be available as their current bans only apply to domestic competitions. Rostov will be without suspended duo Aleksandr Gatskan and Timofei Kalachev, who were booked last week, while Vladimir Granat is expected to be sidelined after breaking his collarbone in the early exchanges against the Reds last time out. First-choice goalkeeper Soslan Dzhanaev could make a comeback after missing the first leg through injury.

Any trivia for me? The last occasion the Reds drew 1-1 away from home in the first leg of a knockout tie in Europe was in 2012/13 when United went out of the Champions League at the Round of 16 stage in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season as manager, after a 2-1 home defeat in the second leg by Real Madrid, who were managed by current Reds boss Jose Mourinho.

Anything else interesting to note? Two United players are familiar with members of Rostov’s squad as Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marko Devic were team-mates at Shakhtar Donetsk in 2012/13 and Antonio Valencia plays with Christian Noboa for Ecuador. Paul Pogba, who made the 50th European appearance of his career last week, will hope for a late birthday present as he turns 24 on the eve of Thursday’s game.

Re: [EL] Manchester United vs FC Rostov

UNITED TEAM NEWS FOR FC ROSTOV ENCOUNTER

Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney have been ruled out of Manchester United's Europa League Round of 16 second-leg clash with FC Rostov but Zlatan Ibrahimovic is back in the squad.

United approach the Old Trafford encounter with an away goal in the bag following the 1-1 draw last week, and will hope to finish the job against the respected Russian opponents. Martial and Rooney are again sidelined, as they were for the Emirates FA Cup defeat at Chelsea on Monday, with Jose Mourinho revealing he will select his line-up from the same squad, with leading scorer Zlatan being the only addition.

Ibrahimovic is, of course, available for the Europa League action as his suspension only applies to domestic matches, and Ander Herrera can also play for the same reason, despite his red card at Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile, Eric Bailly has completed his European ban and will hope to regain a place in United's defence.

"Martial was injured for the Chelsea match," confirmed Mourinho. "He couldn't be selected for the Chelsea match and, if you are injured for the Monday night game, you're injured for the Tuesday morning training session. And if you are injured for the Tuesday morning training session, it's not because of today that you can be able to play on Thursday. So he's out of my mind. I don't think about him, we have the same players we had in the last match plus Ibrahimovic returning for the Europa League.

"Rooney is injured. He had some kick in his knee area, so he can't even come out to the pitch. He stays inside the medical department."

Aleksandr Gatskan and Timofei Kalachev will be missing for FC Rostov following their yellow cards last week, and there is mixed news on the injury front. Soslan Dzhanaev could return in goal but Vladimir Granat is unlikely to be available.

"It's a very important competition for us," added Mourinho. "We always talk about that from the beginning - that's why, in every match since day one, we play with good teams, with strong teams, trying to progress in the competition - which we did in the group phase, which we did in the last 32 and we're going to try tomorrow.

"I think the fans will give us this little bit of extra energy so we believe that, tomorrow, we can cope with the situation and we can fight to be in the quarter-final."

WHY THE OMENS FAVOUR UNITED AGAINST ROSTOV

It is generally regarded that 1-1 is a good first-leg result on the road in Europe and the evidence relating to Manchester United supports that view.

The Reds welcome FC Rostov to Old Trafford on Thursday after securing that scoreline in Russia, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan grabbing the all-important away goal.

Historically, United have progressed on four of the five occasions a home tie was approached with the tie delicately balanced at 1-1. Some big scorelines have also been recorded with Willem II and Djurgardens hit for six in the 1960s. Denis Law scored hat-tricks in both games, after David Herd had grabbed the away goal.

Saint-Etienne, who met Jose Mourinho's men in the previous round of this season's Europa League, succumbed 2-0 in United's 'home' match at Plymouth's Home Park in 1977, following Gordon Hill's strike in France. More recently, Carlos Tevez popped up with a late equaliser in Lyon, to cancel out Karim Benzema's opener, and Cristiano Ronaldo finished the job in the second leg at Old Trafford as the Reds went on to win the Champions League in 2008.

The exception preventing a clean sweep came four years ago, when United looked in a promising position after Danny Welbeck notched an away goal at Real Madrid. The Spanish giants edged the second leg 2-1 at Old Trafford, following Nani's controversial red card, in Sir Alex Ferguson's last-ever European tie. The manager in the opposing dug-out that night? A certain Mr Mourinho, of course.

UNITED'S SECOND-LEG SCORES AFTER 1-1 AWAY DRAWS IN EUROPE

European Cup/Champions League:
2008 v Lyon, won 1-0 (2-1)
2013 v Real Madrid, lost 1-2 (2-3)

European Cup-Winners' Cup:

1963 v Willem II, won 6-1 (7-2)
1977 v Saint-Etienne, won 2-0 (3-1)

UEFA Cup/Europa League:
1964 v Djurgardens, won 6-1 (7-2)

Aggregate scores in brackets.

Re: [EL] Manchester United vs FC Rostov

Rostov want to make history against Manchester United in Europa League, claims coach Ivan Daniliants

* Russian side Rostov face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Thursday night
* There are 8-1 odds on Rostov reaching the next stage of the Europa League
* Ivan Daniliants thinks Rostov can benefit from the quality of the pitch

Rostov arrive at Old Trafford as unfancied Europa League fodder for Manchester United, but coach Ivan Daniliants is confident of confounding the doubters and making history.

A week on from a hard-fought 1-1 draw in Russia, the Zholto-Sinie arrive in England looking to cause an upset against Jose Mourinho's side in the second leg of this last-16 clash.

Odds of 8-1 on Rostov progressing underline what a steep challenge lies in wait, yet there is an underlying confidence of reaching the quarter-finals - little surprise given they have beaten Bayern Munich, Ajax and Anderlecht this term.

The players from the Rostov squad do laps of the Old Trafford pitch ahead of the second-leg

'Both clubs have their own history, but we are here to make history tomorrow,' the Russian side's coach Daniliants said.

'We want to unite tomorrow and to show a decent performance. We trust in our team, we believe in every single player and I am sure that if we do our best the outcome will be positive.'

Rostov are team without star names, built around collective quality.

The togetherness is highlighted by the fact that key players Aleksandr Gatskan, Timofei Kalachev, Soslan Dzhanaev and Vladimir Granat have travelled to Manchester, despite being ruled out through suspension or injury.

The latter was the only injury sustained by either side during last week's first leg, despite concerns over the rock-hard, sandy surface.

Jose Mourinho's desire to have the match called off fell on deaf ears at UEFA, but the Russian Premier League announced on the eve of the second leg that the Olimp-2 surface is unplayable.

'I think every single player of both teams will benefit from using a pitch of the higher quality,' Rostov coach Daniliants said of playing on the plush grass of Old Trafford.

'This is why I would not like to comment specifically on our style of play when we're using this high quality pitch, just to say everyone will enjoy it.'
