Gerrard's BPL career in numbers for Liverpool
With the announcement of his impending exit from Anfield we break down his career so far

With the announcement that Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will call time on his Barclays Premier League career at the end of the season, here is a chance to check out the number 8's numbers so far in his time at Anfield in the competition.

Gerrard's total of 116 goals for Liverpool in the Barclays Premier League is the second highest by a midfielder in the competition after Frank Lampard's 176. Coincidentally both were on the scoresheet in yesterday's New Year's Day fixtures.

The two penalties Gerrard converted against Leicester City on New Year's Day took his total from the spot to 31 in the BPL. Alan Shearer (56) and Lampard (43) are the only players with more.

His goals from outside the box are famous in all competitions, with his strikes against Olympiakos in a UEFA Champions League group-stage match and West Ham United in the FA Cup final the two standout ones. In total Gerrard has scored 36 goals from outside the penalty area in the league. Only three players, Lampard (44), Shearer (39) and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (38) have scored more.

The Liverpool midfielder has not just starred through his goals, but also the number of chances he has created for team-mates. In total, Gerrard has made 92 assists in the Barclays Premier League. Only Ryan Giggs (162), Lampard (102) and Dennis Bergkamp (94) have made more and no Barclays Premier League player has created more chances than the 34-year-old's (835) since Opta started recording such data in 2003.

Manchester United and Everton fans might be particularly relieved to see Gerrard leave Liverpool because he has been a thorn in the two clubs' sides. Gerrard's five Barclays Premier League goals at Old Trafford is a feat that no away player has matches, while he is also the top scorer in BPL Merseyside derbies with nine goals.

Much has been made of the importance of Gerrard's goals in cup competition's and that remains true in the Barclays Premier League, too, with his goals. Of his 116 goals in the competition, almost a third (36) of Gerrard's strikes have won Liverpool the match, while a further 28 earned a point for the Reds. Almost half (53) gave Liverpool the lead while a further 16 drew Liverpool level with their opponents.

Gerrard also has won the most monthly awards in the history of the Barclays Premier League, with six awards (March 2001, March 2003, December 2004, April 2006, March 2009, March 2014). However, he could be caught by Manchester United's Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, who both have won five each.

BPL debut: v Blackburn Rovers, 29 November 1998.
Debut BPL goal: v Sheffield Wednesday, 5 December 1999

Steven Gerrard: Leaving Anfield

Best five Gerrard moments

Following confirmation that Steven Gerrard is to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, Adam Bate reflects on his remarkable Anfield career.

We look back at five of his greatest ever moments for his beloved club. What was your personal favourite?

United piledriver (March 2001)

Gerrard has scored nine goals against Manchester United in his career, continuing to haunt them as recently as March when his two penalties helped Liverpool to a 3-0 win at Old Trafford. But the pick of his goals against United was surely the long-range effort that beat Fabien Barthez at Anfield in March 2001. The win completed the first double that Liverpool had achieved over their great rivals in 22 years with Gerrard's opener setting them on their way to a 2-0 victory. There was a memorable celebration too as the midfielder dived towards to the corner flag and it was to go on to be a successful year for the club as they won no fewer than five trophies in that calendar year.

Olympiakos beauty (December 2004)

With Liverpool seemingly set for a group-stage exit from the Champions League at the hands of Rivaldo's Olympiakos in December 2004, Neil Mellor's late goal put Liverpool within a solitary strike of progressing to the knockout stages. Enter Gerrard with a sweetly-struck shot from distance that sent the Kop into wild celebrations. It was a wonderful Anfield moment in itself but one that will go into folklore given the significance of what was to come as Liverpool went on to become champions of Europe for a fifth time later that season.

Istanbul heroics (May 2005)

The performance with which he will forever be associated, Gerrard's greatest moment in a Liverpool shirt is also arguably the most famous night in the club's history. With the Reds 3-0 down to the mighty AC Milan at half time, Gerrard helped orchestrate a comeback for the ages - reducing the deficit with a header before winning a penalty that led to Xabi Alonso levelling things up. Gerrard went on to lift the trophy - describing it as the "best feeling ever" - following a remarkable shootout to complete a miraculous night under the lights in Istanbul.

FA Cup hero (May 2006)

Twelve months on from one famous 3-3, there was another to enjoy as Gerrard added another chapter to his own legend with a sensational solo performance to drag Liverpool over the line in the FA Cup final against West Ham in Cardiff. The Hammers were 2-0 up when Gerrard set up Djibril Cisse before equalising himself only for Alan Pardew's side to take the lead once more. West Ham were seconds away from a sensational win when a tiring Gerrard fired home from long range to beat Shaka Hislop. Liverpool's hero later netted his penalty in the shootout as the Reds won the trophy in typically dramatic circumstances.

Derby day hat-trick (March 2012)

On the tenth anniversary of David Moyes' time in charge of Everton, it was Anfield's hero who stole the show. Gerrard went into the game having not scored in seven games for club and country, but Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish had him fired up for the Merseyside derby and the captain scored all the goals in a 3-0 home win. The first was a smart finish to lift the ball over goalkeeper Tim Howard, the second was thumped in to the delight of the Kop and a hat-trick goal was found in the dying moments to cap a virtuoso performance.

Loyalitasnya keren, andai saja bukan pemain Liverpool mungkin saya bakalan ngefans sama pemain satu ini.

Saya suka liga inggris, bukan berarti saya suka Liverpool..
Saya 'benci' Liverpool, bukan berarti saya 'benci' Gerrard..
#respect :):)
