July 15th 1962: Denis Law
Denis Law relaxes watches Club Secretary Les Olive complete his new contract following his complicated transfer from Italian club Torino.

May 8th 2003: Quinton Fortune
Four years in to his time at United, Fortune signs a three year extension deal. He was released on a free at the end of this deal.

July 15th 2003: Tim Howard
Howard poses with David Gill and Peter Kenyon after joining the club from MetroStars and two years later signs a contract extension. However, not long after Edwin Van der Sar signs and the usually mild Howard fumes about how he would not have signed the extension if he’d known he wasn’t going to be number 1.

October 2nd 2003: Darren Fletcher
A 20-year-old Fletcher signs a 4 year deal with the club.

January 23rd 2004: Louis Saha
Saha joins United from Fulham after scoring 15 goals between August and January that season.

January 29th 2004: Ruud van Nistelrooy
Ruud signs an extension three and a half years in to his time at the club.

June 11th 2004: Gabriel Heinze
Heinze joins United from PSG and is named Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year in his first season.

May 16th 2005: John Obi Mikel
Mikel joins United but a few days later goes missing and claims he was forced to sign. He then misses a year of his career trying to resolve this issue as he pushes through a deal to join Chelsea. He then watches United win three consecutive league titles after he comes to the Premiership and loses to United in the European Cup final in 2008.

Scholes signs a new 4 year deal, before going on to sign a further two contract extensions.

August 12th 2005: Rio Ferdinand
After being booed by the fans for taking so long to sign a contract extension, despite picking up a wage for 8 months during his ban, Rio finally puts pen to paper on a deal which makes him the best paid United player.

Fletch signs another 4 year deal with the club a fortnight before scoring the winning goal against Chelsea to end their 30 game unbeaten run.

October 14th 2005: John O’Shea
O’Shea signs another 4 year deal with the club.

October 21st 2005: Kieran Richardson
Richardson signs a new 4 year deal a few months after scoring two goals on his England début.

November 18th 2005: Cristiano Ronaldo
With three years remaining on his current deal, Ronaldo signs a new contract to extend it by a further two years.

January 4th 2006: Nemanja Vidic
Vidic joins United from Red Star Belgrade for a bargain price of £7m.

March 31st 2006: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
After returning from a long spell out injured, Solskjaer signs a new contract ahead of a season where he scores a total of 11 goals in the league, FA Cup and Champions League, as United win the title.

July 4th 2006: Giuseppe Rossi
Rossi signs a new contract with United before going out on loan at Newcastle, then Parma. He leaves the club for Villarreal the following summer.

January 16th 2007: Dong Fangzhuo
Fangzhuo became the first Chinese player at United and made a total of 3 appearances, one of which at Stamford Bridge when he received a Guard of Honour from the Chelsea players.

June 6th 2007: Nani
Nani follows in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo from Sporting Lisbon and scores a penalty to help United win the European Cup final at the end of his first season.

June 27th 2007: Owen Hargreaves
After being linked with the club for a couple of years, Hargreaves finally joins from Bayern Munich and goes on to score a penalty to help United win the European Cup final at the end of his first season.

October 16th 2007: Ryan Giggs
Giggs signs one of many one year extensions with the club.

May 18th 2008: Rio Ferdinand
After captaining United to European Cup victory, Rio

February 20th 2009: Gary Neville

Nev signs a one year extension.

April 27th 2009: Rafael da Silva
Rafael signs a new contract with the club after making plenty of first team appearances. His brother, Fabio, doesn’t.

March 26th 2010: Nani
Nani signs a 4-year extension.

April 1st 2010: Fabio da Silva
A year after his brother, Fabio gets a new deal.

August 20th 2010: Nemanja Vidic

After being heavily linked with a move away from the club, Vida signs an extension and is then named captain.

February 21st 2011: Patrice Evra

After being heavily linked with a move away from the club, Evra signs a new 3-year extension.

March 3rd 2011: Michael Carrick
Carrick signs an extension.
