Default Re: [2022-2023] Manchester United ~ Transfer Rumors

Manchester United 'are still keeping tabs on Villarreal's Arnaut Danjuma' one year after the Red Devils chose to splash out £73m on Jadon Sancho instead of signing the in-demand winger from Bournemouth

* Manchester United use this summer to rebuild their squad under Erik ten Hag
* The Villarreal winger impressed in the Champions League this season
* A move for the Dutchman is thought to be unlikely, however, given Man Utd's array of options on the left

Manchester United are still interested in Arnaut Danjuma, it has been reported.

The club will look to rebuild their squad under Erik ten Hag this summer as they look to reverse the astonishing decline seen in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson years.

Danjuma, who moved to Villarreal from Bournemouth last summer, is said to have been considered by Manchester United last year as an alternative to Jadon Sancho. The club reportedly held reservations over the playing owing to him playing his football in the Championship at the time.

With the Dutchman having enjoyed a stellar first season in Spain under Unai Emery, helping guide Villarreal to their first Champions League semi-final since 2006, he is still said to be of interest to the Manchester club.

However, report the Manchester Evening News, owing to their plethora of options on the left the club is unlikely to make a move for the player this summer.

In addition to Sancho, Manchester United have the likes of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial, Anthony Elanga and the young Alejandro Garnacho who can all be deployed on the left-hand side.

Arnaut Danjuma has enjoyed an impressive first campaign at Villarreal under Unai Emery. The Dutchman's performances in the Champions League have particularly impressed. Manchester United are said to have chosen Jadon Sancho over Arnaut Danjuma last summer

Reports suggest Manchester United are keen to sign a forward this summer, with Antony and Christopher Nkunku both being touted for a potential move to the north-west.

Antony's obvious connection to Ten Hag seemingly makes that a transfer to watch out for while Nkunku is one of the most sought after players in all of Europe after a impressive season for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.

It has been reported that Nkunku was recommended by Ralf Rangnick. The news that he will not be taking up his consultancy role with Manchester United as previously planned was announced over the weekend. It is unclear what repercussions this might have for the club's summer plans.

Manchester United's most pressing necessity appears to be in central midfield, where they are set to lose Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba this summer.

Targets are said to include Ruben Neves and Frenkie de Jong, with the latter's club Barcelona said to be open to selling the Dutchman for the right price.

Reports emerged on Monday suggesting that Barcelona, owing to their astronomical debts and generally dire financial state, are currently unable to register free signings Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie.

Whether or not that opens the door for Manchester United to chase De Jong remains to be seen.
